This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel and would pretty much always stay in this hotel when in Chiang Mai. It does not have an elevator so you may have to walk up two or three flights of stairs. Rooms are impeccably clean and neat and staff cheerful and helpful. I would describe the hotel and area as 'Bohemian' ... and that's a compliment. I didn't arrange any tours through the hotel so can't comment on that. Suggest you familiarize yourself with using GRAB if you haven't already.
This place was great! We stayed here for 1 night before flying south, The staff were really helpful and the whole place was really clean Excellent facilities, there were computers and printers which we used to print boarding passes, also self service laundry machines right outside and the reception sells laundry detergent Lots of cats (not strays) which were all friendly which is a definite bonus!
the women who owns this place will just rip you off put items on your bill that you never had,she will rip you off on tours, taxis etc you name it she will take from you,and the noise is bad, from the security guard with his tv on to the maids shouting in mornings, and the noise from bars the traffic,do not even go through the front doors,,
Stayed for 1 night as I was too late to check in to my monthly apartment nearby. I normally avoid hostels in SE Asia (with a notable exception of Singapore and one very special place in KL), as I feel it's mostly of poor value (and is oriented on either young newbie travelers or die-hard fans of the hostels), as the private rooms do not cost much more if at all. In this case, the convenience of not going far from the apartments just to come back there next morning, as well as the reasonable price for a seemingly nice hostel, caused me to try it. I wasn't disappointed! First of all, I was lucky to have the entire room (3 bunk beds) for myself. But even not considering that, the room was very nice, new and clean. The room size is reasonable also, won't feel too crowded even if all 6 people were present, and the curtains on the beds would help in that case. Wi-Fi was good too. Check in/check out was easy and fast, you can have a free coffee near the reception too. Didn't check the private rooms, as the dorm was just enough (and the price just right) for my 14 hours stay. The area itself is of "expat" type and IS where I stay in Chiang Mai for a month or two once in a while during last 3 years, as there's almost everything nearby: food (from local to Western-oriented restaurants to a nicer but beautiful Huen Muan Jai restaurant), shopping (Kad Suan Kaew mall in 5 minutes walk), drinks (a few bars nearby, a beer garden opposite Kad Suan Kaew), public transportation (new city buses and songthaews to the city center and the nicest in the city Nimman/Maya mall - and at night the Grab ride costs just 60 baht from/to the center/bar areas, much less than the greedy tuk tuks ask). In short, the hostel is highly recommended for those backpackers who got bored of endless "Khao San" around with little of "local" flavor and lots of overpricing.…
