I could imagine the hotel would've had a grand opening and had it's grandeur admired once upon a time, but to be honest, the hotel is dated, and the decor, smell and facilities reflect this - so does the price. This is a great option for a small price that puts you in walking distance of the moat surrounded area...

Worst hotel ever. Do not stay here! The hotel has not been maintained for many years. The manager should be ashamed to let people stay in such bad rooms. We had mould everywhere. There are so many other choices in Changmai.

I have been using the Orchid for many years and am treated like one of the family by the manager so that could possible colour my views. I originally chose the Orchid in 2009 because it had a pool and a gym. I have continued using it because the service is good and the rooms are big. Being a voluntary...

This hotel is by far the worst hotel I've stayed in within Thailand. The room I stayed in was really run down, large chips out of the wall, mouldy fridge, outdated decor and unclean bathroom with mould all over the shower curtain. I asked to change rooms and was shown a room just as run down, if not in a...

This big and old hotel has a proud history of accommodating members of the royal family of Thailand. These glory days was a long time ago but there is still a great atmosphere here. The hotel with it's big lobby with nightly entertainment is used mainly by asian tourists and the breakfast buffet is mostly asian style withrice, soups and...

The hotel was evidently built on a grand scale in its day. Its faded charm appeals still. The 1980's style bedrooms are of a good size offering comfortable amenities; bathrooms remain functional but have seen better days. But it is the lobby lounge, spacious and beautifully constructed from local wood, that remains the hotel's finest feature. Excellent for loafing around,...

I have stayed at the Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel maybe four times over the past twenty years. It is, like I am, showing age around the edges. Facts remains that the location is great, the lobby is beautifully arrayed in Northern Thai style, the staff is helpful and the price won't break spoil the budget. It is clean but the...

The only bad thing I have to mention here is the receptionist as she was very rude to us and had no interest in helping us when we tried to explain to her that we had to make an urgent phone call to our bank (my card had been frauded). We offered to give money to use the hotel phone....

I popped into the Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel to use their pool and gym facilities for half a day. I couldn't find the (correct) price anywhere online, so here it is: 400 baht for unlimited use of the pool and gym facilities. A real luxury if you've been using a bucket shower for a couple of weeks! The gym is...

This was an good place to stay in the middle of the city. The location was really nice, beside an active mall with a fun Thursday to Sunday market out front. That market was my favorite thing about the hotel as it had great street food. The hotel itself has had better days, Otis a bit faded. But for a...
