This hotel is a boutique hotel - it's set in a 130 year old traditional northern Thai house. But don't let the age fool you to thinking that amenities and facilities are "traditional" or outdated as well. On the contrary, great water pressure and hot water on demand in the bathrooms with toothbrush, Colgate toothpaste, earbuds provided. A safe in... More

Club 17 in Chiang Mai is based in a beautiful old teak house with half a dozen or so very stylish rooms overlooking the Ping River. There is an excellent restaurant and terrace by the river as well as a gym and a small swimming pool. Connected to the hotel is a sauna and steam room complex which features theme... More

Why "very good"? Because for what it is ... old, wood structure in traditional style .... it is a nice place with friendly helpful staff. It is NOT a Hilton/Sheraton or whatever and has charm because of that. It IS clean, quaint and welcoming. A/c, wi-fi, comfortable bed, adequate bathroom. Nice terrace to have good free breakfast or drinks in... More

The staff were really great. Couldn't do enough for us. The sauna on site was a real bonus. A great breakfast was included in the price. Some of the rooms are bit small so choose one of the larger ones.

Friendly staff, very clean facilities, spotless rooms. Gym was also really good for a hotel. Decent food on-site too, really couldn't ask for much more. Stayed in a superior room which was nice, didn't see others. Use the mosquito net provided! Slightly out of town but tuk tuks available all day for between 100-200 baht.

It was disappointing and not for the more elderly customer. It is very dark and rooms small with old furniture and not modern in any way. It is a younger back packers paradise being old Thai building near the river. Our room was unsuitable and we moved but the room was to say very basic and we had a cockroach... More

Thank you for sharing your review with us. We apologize that our place is not what you were looking for. Our guesthouse is over 130 years old with antique furniture. It is not for everyone however it is a unique experience for those who want to experience a traditional Thai accommodation. I believe you were looking for a modern hotel... More

The complex is a small group of traditional Thai timber [Lana style] buildings on the edge of the Ping river. The garden planting, water features, pool and bar terrace overlooking the river provide a wonderful relaxed feel. There is a fairly extensive bar food menu and the food is of impressive quality - great breakfasts too. Try the banana pancake... More

This is my second visit to Club One Seven, the first more than one year ago. Sometimes you come across a place that has a uniqueness and a quality somewhat difficult to define. A combination of the experience of staying in a 130 year old teak mansion on the river in combined with an informal and dedicated staff. Enchanting, I... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built circa 1880, Club One Seven Chiang Mai, with its peaked roof and wide veranda porches, are a perfect example of an old-fashioned Thai style teak wood house that sits in a lush tropical garden. There's a real friendly ambiance that makes guests content to just spend time relaxing around the place particularly at one of the favored spots - overlooking the serene Ping River. For those just looking to unwind, read a book and use up as little energy as possible, this is certainly a place to consider. Club One Seven is a full service facility not just a guesthouse. Additional to the guesthouse there is a gym, swimming pool with jacuzzi jets, steam room, sauna, massage salon, internet tv room and cafe. Regular monthly party events are held on the 1st, 7th, 17th and 27th of the month as well as special holidays. Club One Seven Chiang Mai, is one of the more unusual places you will find designed for the gay male community. ... more   less
