We spent 10 days at Chiangmai and have stayed 9 nights at Ping Nakara for Xmas vacation. Each room here has a unique name signifying a flower, our room is at 2nd floor overlooking a quiet side. The room is cosy with colonial style, and every evening we are served with northern Thai tasty snacks. We definitely have good sleep every night and u will notice the staff has tried their very best to clean up the room and has looked into every details to make us feel like home.
The breakfast is also a highlight to our stay and we enjoy very much starting our day under warm winter sunlight facing the gorgeous pool. The only disappointment is that the water is so cold that we can’t take a dip in this season. But the pool is meticulously maintained and hopefully we will be back in summer time.
Very convenient location and parking available for us.
The dinner here at hotel restaurant is very good serving fresh and tasty Thai food. We enjoyed their massage during our last night which gave us a memorable and relaxing night to end our trip.
Everything here is perfect, staff is always helpful and available. We had nice talk with the welcoming manager Joseph too!!
A perfect getaway trip to Chiangmai and Ping Nakara is definitely the highlight of our trip.

Ping Nakara is set in one of those building that would be the perfect setting for a millionaires luxury retreat. The location is excellent and despite the street running past there is little noise.. The rooms range from large to huge and thy all have great views of the private pool area.

The airport pickup service in their "old timer" Mercedes is an interesting touch and check in and reception services are efficient and helpful.

Since our last visit we thought the food offerings had improved. Breakfast offerings are not extensive but very adequate and the lunch time/evening menu, in our view, has improved. Wine list is fine albeit not quite sure about an average wine from USA in Thailand - an odd choice in your view.

Our only gripe has to be that after coming back from some heavyweight market bargaining at 22:00 we found it disappointing to be told the bar and all service was finished. Rather early for a hotel in this category.

We will continue to use this lovely hotel during our Chiang Mai visits, it's a real gem.

We had a five star experience at this beautiful boutique hotel. Even during pandemic times, its clear they have maintained a very high level of service and cleanliness, we were very impressed. The rooms are classic, large, well appointed with many small features and extra ammedinites that surprised and delighted my girlfriend. The courtyard and pool provided wonderful ambience for morning and afternoon swims. The breakfast was substantial and an abundance of western and thai options, we enjoyed both equally. The location is within a short walking distance to the night bazaar with plenty to see and do. We had a handwritten note awaiting us in our room and were presented with a lovely parting gift on the way out. It seems like I might be working for the hotel with such a lovely review, but we just really enjoyed it and look forward to coming back soon. I should add that during this time, the rate per night was a fraction of what it normally would cost but we felt we got a tremendous value and this hotel deserves all the praise and hopefully continues to get enough business to power through this slow time. Highly recommended!

The service here is cold, uninterested and unwelcoming.

Particularly the women at the front desk and the elderly foreign manager.

The restaurant staff was lovely.

Have stayed in most of the 5 * hotels in Chiang Mai - this was the worst in regards to service and we couldn't wait to leave.

Avoid!

We have been enjoying a few weeks of 5 * hotels and this was by far our least favourite and we actually couldn't wait to leave the next morning.

The front desk ladies were cold on arrival and could barely smile or look up whenever we returned during the entire stay.

They gave off a very unwelcome vibe from check in to check out.

Most times the 1 or 2 women on staff were in the little office behind the front desk playing on their phones.

No welcome drink/cold towel or anything on arrival that resembled what most 5* in Thailand do during check in.

The room was spotlessly clean but the AC never got below 25. Blew warm air and we just didn't feel like dealing with the ladies in the front or the hassle of getting it fixed.
Based on the service thus far we knew this is not the place to graciously move you, but instead send a maintenance guy in the room to fix it.

You oddly enter into the room through the bathroom.

We were on the top floor in their highest category.
The balcony has no warmth just a rattan table and two chairs.
Bed was fine.
Water pressure good.
Front desk woman escorted us to the room and promptly walked out.
We had to search the room for things like towels, toiletries and refrigerator.
Again, no semblance of service.

BE WARNED!

There is a massive construction site across the street,so expect quite a lot of noise.

Breakfast was adequate. The lady serving was absolutely lovely, efficient and friendly.
She should be the manager and train the surly ladies at the front desk.

...which brings me too the actual manager.

I greeted the elderly foreign manager after breakfast as he was walking past and asked him a question.
He curtly answered and walked away.

Never have I stayed in years at a 5 * boutique property and had a manager so uninterested in guests.

Chiang Mai has so many lovely 5* properties with exceptionally warm service and we've stayed at most of them over the years.

My advice is to avoid this hotel

Dear guest, We are really sorry for your unhappy stay with us. During this pandemic time we work to keep our standards high, but in this case it seems we have fell short. Some of the issues you mentioned are a result of the governments strict protection for our guests. Still, we will work with our staff to continue to improve the level of satisfaction that we have given to many guests over the last ten years. Thank you for your comments, and please accept our sincerely apologies. Kind regards, Chairat

The Ping Nakara Hotel & Spa is a beautiful boutique hotel just outside of the Old City. It sits on the Ping River just a couple of blocks from the Night Bazaar. The Ping Nakara’s relaxed, yet elegant colonial atmosphere was the perfect spot for us.

Its architecture is a tasteful gingerbread highlighted by hand-carved wood. The hotel is in a quiet location, and it has a very friendly and welcoming staff.

We had a huge room with our own balcony, and a delicious breakfast on the veranda was included. We also enjoyed their afternoon happy hour in the rotunda..

A really fun part of this hotel was that they have two antique Mercedes’ they can transport you in, or, even more fun, a rickshaw! Whenever we wanted to go for just a short ride to dinner or to a temple nearby, they would pedal us to the location. Such a blast

The hotel is a true "boutique hotel"; it is of a reasonable size, well designed in the elegant Thai style. It is well located, in a quiet area of Chiang Mai. It is far enough from the tohu-bohu of the city, close enough to reach the city centre conveniently in a short time by tuck-tuck or taxi, or in a comfortable walk of 20 minutes. The hotel also provides free transport to the city centre in a vintage Mercedes that is a wonderful experience in itself. There are restaurants of various quality around the corner in addition to a wonderful daily night market, which provides not only artisanal items but also a diversity of souvenirs and many food stalls. All staff is exceptionally professional, friendly and helpful at all times. We were treated with courtesy and respect from our arrival to our departure, each staff member was generous in making our stay most comfortable, which did not mean to go beyond the obvious to made us feel welcome. The rooms are well appointed, a little outdated in their decoration maybe, but the Thai flair was everywhere, which we personally appreciated, given our wish to experience the culture rather than international atmosphere. We sincerely valued the comfort, the cleanness, the equipment and the view from the balcony. The king bed was very comfortable, bedlinens, towels and bathrobes of very good quality. Breakfast was served, both buffet and menu, providing a range of food, both Thai and international. We do not share some reviews on internet that complain about the lack of diversity; we enjoyed every of our 10 breakfasts and never felt that anything was missing. The bar is worth a visit, inside and outside on the veranda; it is very well decorated and the range of drinks on offer is generous. There is a friendly and experienced tour operator on site. We booked a tour with him and were not disappointed: while using a common itinerary, it also provided us with some extras upon our request; it was not cheap but worth it.
We liked everything in fact. Nevertheless, we can provide some areas for improvement:
The swimming pool is well presented and clean. However, it does not benefit from the sun and the water is very cold. A cold plunge is nice after a long day of sightseeing, but this was too cold for us. In addition, the lounge chairs should be provided with comfortable mattresses.
When it comes to the restaurant, guests must book 24 hours in advance and select from 3 or 4 menus at the time of the booking. Room service is closed after 4.30pm. While the context of the limitations is understandable, and there are many restaurants around the corner, we’d loved to eat lightly at the hotel on some evenings rather than walking to restaurants outside.

One of the coziest and super romantic boutique hotels we have ever visited. We were also here 5 years ago and it has only grown in class. Breakfast a la carte, doors are opened for you, you can literally eat off the floor, so clean and it is within walking distance of the center in Chiang Mai with the famous night market

I spent 11 nights at the beautiful Nakara Hotel. I could have written this review on the second day I was here because I didn't have a doubt it would end as beautifully as it started. The staff at this hotel goes goes out of their way to make your stay comfortable. Each and every one of them from the room cleaners to the front staff at the reception to the cooks and to all the drivers they took such great care of us they were so informative. They were so helpful. It is a place that I will always remember and miss until I come back again. The hotel itself is beautiful and tranquil and peaceful but the staff is what makes it for me.I was blessed to stay here

I give this hotel 5/5 and well deserved as I dont usually mark a review with full points.
This hotel is spotless, the staff are polite, professional, friendly and very, very helpful. Nothing is a trouble to them. Only 19 rooms with beautiful pool (little cool at times). The eating area is big, clean and amazing, and the staff very attentive, the food excellent and at breakfast, the eggs are perfection. The rooms are spacious, well maintained and balconly overlookinmg pool area. The grounds and walkways always clean, the foyer is so inviting and if want a little quieter place to read or just sit, the Gazebo room off the foyer is perfect. If i ever returned to Chiang Mei I would not stay anywhere else and highly recommend to anyone. The spa and beauty treatment area clean and well laid out and believe value for money. I may have stayed only 5 nights but the stay at this hotel was the best ever and can only sum it up in one word: PERFECTION.

Had such a lovely stay at this boutique hotel! Art was our driver from the airport and helped take us around town. He was such a friendly person and even stopped traffic at one point so my husband could cross the road to get to the ATM. The ladies at the front desk, Mon and Mita were very helpful and always willing to assist us with drivers and Covid testing arrangements. We enjoyed breakfast each morning by the pool area. Be sure to use bug spray at all times of the day. The mosquitoes can be vicious if you have sweet blood like me! For any trips or excursions be sure to speak with Noom to help get you scheduled. He is such a knowledgeable and friendly guide! He will definitely personalize your trip and go the extra mile to make it a memorable experience. The hotel itself is very charming and quaint. Our daily maid service did an excellent job keeping everything fresh and clean. The location itself is in good proximity to the Night Bazzar and local markets. If you don’t like walking the hotel will gladly arrange a ride for you. Be sure to visit the spa for an amazing massage at a great price.
