My family and I stayed here during late December and through the New Year. It was genuinely one of the best places we've stayed during or years of travel. Not to sound too corny but it is an exudes warmth. Everyone is incredibly kind, accommodating, and interesting. Wonderful spacious rooms and incredible service. A great place to relax after a long day of hiking or site seeing. My young children absolutely adored exploring the grounds and hanging out with the folks who worked there. You cannot go wrong with this place. We plan to visit again at the end of the year.
Stayed there last week and the team at Joy’s house could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We had a lovely week there and would very highly recommend. Spacious room, delicious food, lots of trips organised. Beautiful home and gardens and outdoor pool.
A hidden gem! We were welcomed into the family New Year’s Eve celebrations and felt part of the family. Very laid back and chilled place, which is a great departure from the normal hustle/bustle of Thailand. Not your “normal” hotel, with exceptional service the norm, the locally prepared food being truly delicious and the facilities all that a family would be looking for. We would highly recommend to anyone!
Magnificent place. After visiting the busy city of Chiang Mai, this is the perfect place to relax. The breakfast, lunch and dinner is fantastic with a large variety if foods to choose from. The staff is very kind and do their best to deliver you the best stay possible. Definite recommend it. Must visit!
What a hidden gem in Chiang Mai. Great atmosphere, lovely home cooked food and great reasonable prizes. You feel welcome, all the way. After a day of busy traffic, sightseeing and travelling the lively environment and nature this feels like an oasis of peace and quiet. Worth a visit.
We stayed at the property as a family of three with a two year old toddler in December. You feel very welcome in this family business. The pool offers a good place to cool off and is particularly suitable for small children. The whole complex is like a small, quiet oasis with cats and a dog and a kind grandmother and it's easy to relax. The pick-up service from the airport, the delivery service to the departure and the offer of hot meals in the evening were also very helpful. I can recommend Joys House to families who do not need luxury and are looking for simple and friendly accommodation.
I can't have imagined a more perfect stay for us while in Chiang Mai. I can't say I've ever found a more welcoming staff presence at a guesthouse than at Joy's House. Every single day we work up to a BOUNTY of amazing delicious fruits, home-made breads, fresh juices, and coffees. They go out of their way to make sure every one on their guests are taken care of and they will go out of their way to do so. We needed a taxi to Pai and they helped us arrange for one and wound up driving us themselves because we were getting charged too much by the cab drivers. They saved us a good amount of money. They were also flexible when we missed our flight to Kuala Lumpur and made it easy for us to extend and stay another night. They had a gym where I could keep up with Thai boxing on the days I couldn't make it to my training at Wildcat Muay Thai. And an amazing pool to lounge, read, socialize, and sunbathe by. There are SO many plants growing it feels like a sanctuary and a haven. They take very good care of their property. There are several affectionate and friends animal friends on the premises (a few cats and one dog), which as a cat lover was great. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. I felt a bit like I was staying in a palace in their luxury room. And the food is SO delicious! We were able to order fresh watermelon juice any time we like as well as delicious pad Thai or curries all cooked fresh. Their fresh home-baked breads were especially delicious! We've been missing the service at Joy's House after leaving and continuing our adventures elsewhere. I wish I'd been able to take their cooking class, that's the only regret I've got! Do yourself a favor and book this place. You will not regret it. I can't recommend it enough. I would rebook in a heartbeat.…
We decided to try Joy's House to experience an authentic Chiang Mai stay with exposure and opportunity to meet local folks. We were also intrigued that it was affiliated with the children's foundation in Chiang Mai, where underprivileged children growing up were trained in hospitality jobs. We were not disappointed. Joy's House was everything we expected and more. Everyone at the house was very hospitable. Thank you, Khun Doe, for arranging all our stay. Joy, it was nice to meet you, and thank-you for inviting us for cocktails at the Pizza Zap to meet some of the staff, and meeting your nephew Bae. We also had a great Thai cooking session with Joy's cousin Cham Pee. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and spacious. The atmosphere was very relaxing and we felt at home around the guest house. The one day city tour and ride up the Ping river was enjoyable. The sampling of Thai message was also a nice experience. The three day tour to Chiang Rai & Mae Saelong was also very interesting, although the drive back from Chiang Saen (Golden Triangle) was a little too long. Perhaps it would have been better to shorten it to 2 days and cut out Mae Saelong. Even though we were outside of the Chiang Mai old city, it was convenient enough to catch a red taxi or to get a ride from the Guest House.…
We spent wonderfully relaxing days at Joy's House. A very pleasant and familiar atmosphere, furnished with great attention to detail - both the rooms and, above all, the entire complex. A place to relax and unwind. Delicious food. The massages are also recommended. On top of that we have a 3 day trekking, which was also a highlight of our stay. Definitely, we will come back...and we already looking forward to the cooking course, the Thai massage course or the in-house spa program? Kop-Kuhn Kah Joy House Family! Carola &Julia
We chose Joy‘s house because it is a children’s charity as well as a family business with a „green“ touch. We loved every minute of our one week stay. Food is excellent, tours were lovely and extra requests were met immediately. If we had one wish free: we would like to have a short presentation about the children’s shelter foundation for the guests, this would support the idea even more. All in all: what a great and relaxed experience. Chiang Mai is a very cultured area, very Thai!
