From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty by the nicest most helpful hotel staff you could ever wish to meet. The accommodation is beautiful and spotlessly clean and cool pool a bonus in this heat. Breakfast was absolutely fine with a wide choice of food to suit all. I would have no hesitation staying here again but agree with previous comments that’s it’s in an odd location. Saying that it is quiet and away from the noise and traffic of the main town and taxis are incredibly cheap.
Special thanks to the night staff who stayed on late after their shift had finished to have my wife’s phone successfully returned after she left it in a taxi.

We stayed at Villa Sanpakoi with our 3 daughters for 7 nights in 2 rooms. We highly recommend it to families and to other travellers. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and kept immaculately. The pool is a lovely space and provides a welcome respite in the afternoon. The staff are absolutely superb - so incredibly helpful, friendly, attentive and always available and able to help with absolutely everything. Breakfast was delicious and very easy and we found the atmosphere incredibly welcoming and friendly. Thank you Villa Sanpakoi for a wonderful stay and for making our time in Chiang Mai so special.

We stayed at the Villa Sanpakoi for 4 nights. We got off to a bit of a rough start as we had pre-booked transportation from the airport to the hotel. What we expected was a hotel rep to pick us up. What we got was the Uber (ok, it is Grab in Thailand) driver from hell. But we arrived safely if somewhat shaken.

Check in introduced us to the amazing staff at this hotel. They simply cannot do enough for you.

Our room was ground level right beside the pool. The room was huge and very well appointed. There was a really cool little sitting area just outside our door. The bed was firm but comfy and we slept very well there. The bathroom was almost exaggerated in size.

The pool area is amazing. It has a spa feel to it without being over the top. The water was noticeably cool, but that was very pleasant after a warm day touring.

Breakfast was included and was ok. We stayed at six hotels in Thailand, and this one had the poorest choices for the meal. I mean, it was still light years better than the trash you get at most economy hotels in North America, it just did not stand up to comparison to others in Thailand.

So, having said all of this, why only a 4 rating? It came down to the location of the hotel. It is located about three blocks down a side road from one of the main arteries into the old city. That does not sound like a big deal until you try to walk it. We literally had to wait for breaks in the traffic to dash around parked cars along this stretch. Once we made the main road, then all was well. The location also meant the choices of eateries was limited.

Villa Sanpakoi is absolutely brilliant, we loved our stay. The area is quiet and surrounded by some of the most amazing local restaurants and food stalls. Just 20-30 mins walk to old town, 15 mins to riverside or supermarket (or you can cycle with the free bikes for much quicker). For those who prefer not to walk, the team is extremely helpful with sorting out transport and excursions. Sadly we were the only guests there for most of our time, so come back people, this place is such a good option in Chiang Mai. We stayed in a room that accommodated 2 adults + 2 kids in one room.

CONS: The room and fittings were extremely basic and drab. I hate having an extra bed in a room when it is not needed and when the upholstery has gross stains on it, that only makes matters worse. Lots of noise from above - showers toilets flushing and children stomping and running from 6:30am The breakfast was pretty awful too so I just skipped that. Staff were slightly impartial - one expects a lot more from Thai hospitality
PROS: big comfortable bed with a nice hard mattress and the nice view of the pool on the balcony. The free bikes are a pleasant bonus

We stayed there for 4 nights in a pool view room. The bathroom is in generous size and with user friendly facilities. Staff were so friendly and helpful. They even helped us put our Chiang Mai sausage in their freezer and managed to remind us to collect them upon our check out.

We spent three nights here and couldn’t have been happier. The room (pool view) was large, clean and well appointed with a balcony. The breakfast was tasty with a choice of Western /Thai dishes. But best of all was the extremely pleasant and professional staff. They helped with airport transfers and restaurant recommendations. I will happily return on my next trip and highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is situated outside the "city wall" area but still close to everything. Grab a map from reception and start exploring by foot. Easy walk into city centre, over the Ping River to the night and flower markets. If you don't care to walk, just walk to either Kaew Nawarat Road or in the other direction to Charoen Muang Road to catch a Songthaew (red taxi or red pick up). Costs THB30 - don't know how far you can actually go for that money, but will take you to Thapae Gate. I walked to and from Cental Festival Mall, Decathlon, Big C, Lotus's. A walk from this hotel to Katare Night Bazaar takes about 20 minutes. A must buy is "Mango and sticky rice" from a delightful lady that explains the process as she prepares this delightful dish, for THB70. Hotel is within 200 metres of a number of restaurants and coffee shops, that offer excellent service and product. Room (1202) is large, has the fanciest toilet and a very comfortable bed.

I have traveled many countries, and stayed in many great hotels and rentals, but this is the first time I have written a review! What do you hope for when you travel? Me?--a welcoming staff, friendly service, and quality of facility, food, and cleanliness. Villa Sanpakoi goes way beyond in all areas! Every person working on the grounds, kitchen, dining, housekeeping, and front desk is courteous, caring, and sincere. Each morning we receive a free buffet breakfast in a spacious dining room with a terrific host. Afterwards, I enjoy a morning swim in their crystal clear pool. Our room is immaculately cleaned every day by a delightful housekeeping staff. During our stay, we had many questions and at times unusual needs, and the front desk personnel were always responsive and attentive to our requests. An example of the kind of care we experienced during our stay, is that we walked from the hotel to a restaurant about one mile away. During dinner, a monsoon season storm rained heartily. We ended up being stranded on our way home along a flooded alleyway. We could not find an available BOLT car, so in desperation we called the hotel for assistance. The hotel manager himself (who was off duty) came to rescue us! He left his own evening with friends to come pick us up and drive us safely back to the hotel. This sort of kindness and care was present from the first few steps we took onto the property, and embodied by each and every employee. Great job to everyone at Villa Sanpakoi for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable!

We booked a triple room here and it was very spacious with a desk and a sitting area and lots of room for suitcases. The staff was friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to help us when the taxi couldn't find the hotel. Apparently, the Grab site does not list the hotel and you need to walk a short distance to a cafe down the road for the taxi pick up. The hotel was about a 20 walk to the Nawarat Bridge so not quite as convenient for walking as we had thought, but it was on a quiet street with a couple nice cafes nearby. We really enjoyed the clean and refreshing pool. If you are here for the lantern festival, go to the Doi Saket lake area (not the hot springs!) for the mass launching and don't let them convince you that it is a paid event. It is free! The lanterns were banned in 2022 and 2023 in the town and on the bridge although we heard that people sent them up anyways. Take a taxi or the red trucks to Doi Saket lake village area. Overall, we really enjoyed this hotel and would highly recommend it.
