Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the Chala 6 hotel from 3-4 December 2021. It was Chiang Mai design week and the city was still had in place Covid-19 restrictions. The team at the front desk are the best. They are extremely helpful in navigating places to visit that are off the beaten track. I also like the team at the swimming pool bar location who were friendly and went the extra mile. The room was well decked out, internet works and the location is right in the city square so it is easy to walk to tourist attractions.

We were a couple who stayed here for 4 nights.
Location: It's hard to beat this location. It is quiet and peaceful inside the hotel, but you walk right out onto the streets of Chiang Mai. We were especially surprised to find that the hotel sits in the middle of the Sunday Night Market, which was very convenient. The hotel is within walking distance of 382963483 restaurants and right across the street from Wat Chedi Luang.
Room details: We asked for a room on the second floor to avoid mosquitos . We did wind up with a mosquito in our room, but when we told the front desk, they gave us an electric trap to plug into the wall. We caught the mosquito and had no further issues. Looking back on it, if we knew we could get one from the hotel so easily, we would've asked for a trap upon arriving.
There *is* a school next door. We took the advice of others who had reviewed on here and asked in advance for a room that was not on the side of the school. I can see how that noise might have bothered other who were closer, but we were up early to see things each day so I don't think it would've been a big deal.
Food: What was a big deal in the best way was breakfast and (unexpectedly) tea time! We assumed we would be eating breakfast somewhere outside the hotel every morning, but each morning there was a new buffet of regional dishes that were delicious. We ate there each morning and never regretted it once! We also assumed we would never be around for tea time because we'd be too busy, but every day that had different snacks and teas that were to die for. It was a perfect way to break our day up by relaxing a bit at the hotel for tea time and then the beginning of happy hour. At one of the tea times we got a 30 min free coupon for the spa!
The hotel grounds are gorgeous, quiet, and extremely convenient. The hotel offered to let us leave our bags with them until we had to leave later without us even asking. It was very much appreciated, and we can't wait to stay here again when we come back to Chiang Mai!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights on a trip around Thailand. We have been fortunate to stay in some beautiful hotels around the world but we both agree that this goes down as one of our favourites.
The location in the heart of the old city is brilliant. You can walk anywhere in the old city from here and you have the entrance to Wat Chedi Leung on your door step.
All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. Any request we had e.g. printing our boarding passes / ordering a grab taxi was sorted within seconds.
The absolute highlight of the hotel though is the courtyard area where the pool, restaurant and rice barn bar can be found. They have created a beautiful and relaxing environment with the use of lighting, flowers and water features. It’s this attention to detail in creating this atmosphere that sets it apart from many hotels in our eyes.
They ran a complimentary afternoon tea between 2pm and 4pm where you could try a range of Thai style deserts and treats. They also did happy hour between 3pm and 5pm which was a perfect way to unwind after a days walking around the city.
The only small criticism I would have is the the pool was very cold. However, it was still nice to sit by and enjoy the sound of water feature.

This is an aesthetically beautiful hotel with an inner courtyard containing a pleasing pool with excellent sun recliners and a relaxing half open restaurant where breakfast was served when we stayed here. You cannot beat the location if you want to be in the old town. I cannot stress this enough. The neighbourhood is literally the centre of old town. The Sunday night market is on the street facing the hotel. And several of the main temples in town are right next to the hotel. The staff were very courteous but we feel at times the level of service could have been better. The resort by travel sites is rated five star. It was not five star during the time we stayed there. I understand that during these pandemic times there are significant challenges. Nonetheless the breakfast just isn't varied enough for a hotel of this class. Also, one of the mornings we and the other guests were left with no option but to eat breakfast in our rooms due to the fact that the breakfast venue had been reserved for a half day function. The hotel could have found another location for guests to have their breakfast. There was another disused restaurant venue in the hotel itself. On the last day we were the only guests in the hotel. We feel that the hotel management could have informed us that it would be very noisy once the school next door opened on the morning of 1 July. We woke up at 6.45 in the morning to loudspeakers and music, impossible to sleep. This should not come as a surprise living right next door to schools and temples. But there were many vacant rooms on the other side of the hotel where the level of noise would have been significantly less. It would have been easy and just a small gesture to offer to move us. Overall I would still recommend this hotel if you want to be in the centre. And the pool is a gem.

Chala no. 6 is one of the most attractive hotels to stay in Chiangmai full of amenities and hospitalities that would make your experience worthwhile.
The room is spacious for our three families and seven members with the suite two bed rooms and a large living room, decorated in the confirmable modern and lanna style.
Its location is simply “right” just opposite to “Wat Chedi Luang”, one of the oldest and beautiful temples in Chiangmai.
Breakfast is good with a combination of buffet and a la cart.
Staff are highly attentive and with high service minds.
In the middle of hotel is a greenery pool area with a giant tree and waterfall, simply leading to relaxing and refreshing feels.
Price is very reasonable for the value it offers.

We have traveled all over the world and this hotel was one of our absolute favorite experiences...until night time came. Our entire floor was full of rude, noisy, and extremely aggressive guests. Let us begin by saying that the staff and service was wonderful. That first night we had was wonderful as there was no one staying next to us and we slept so peacefully. We had such a wonderful time that we decided to extend our stay by a day (a mistake). The second night our new neighbors were being very noisy, finally at around 2am we called the front desk and notified them and asked if there was anything they could do. They immediately called the room next door and politely asked them to quiet down. We know this because we could hear the phone ring through the wall and hear our neighbors pick up. The walls are VERY thin. You can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms around you. That coupled with our very rude neighbors made for 2 consecutive sleepless nights. On the second night our neighbors doubled down on their noise (we believe) because of the first night's noise complaint. The worst night of our travel experience began with them (1) leaving their TV on blast while they went out for the night (because the walls are so thin we could hear the TV on and no one in the room). This was followed by (2) them knocking on our door at 3 in the morning and NOT stopping until we opened the door only to say "sorry wrong room" while we could see them laughing. This was capped by (3) them proceeding to party, have loud conversations and continue their high level of noise until nearly 5 in the morning.
Before our neighbors arrived we were ready to return to this hotel and come back with friends. During the day it is serene, beautiful, full of friendly and helpful staff (and a fantastic spa) but during the night it seems that they attract a certain kind of rowdy visitor that is not helped by the hotels paper thin walls. This would be fine if the hotel did not advertise itself as "featuring all the comforts and amenities while being respectful and humble of its significant location" and refer to its grounds as "Plentiful Nature of this Era of Lanna." The hotel sets up a certain degree of expectations on this website, but be aware that it is NOT what you will experience in person. We wish we could have returned. You cannot be a 5 star hotel and charge this price while having such thin walls and no decorum for guests.

We stayed 1 night 2-3 July 2020 during our visit to ChiangMai. Although we arrived to early around 10.00 am, the front desk let us check in because the room is available at that time. Thank you for the upgrade, and our room was beautifully situated next to the small pond.
Room is nicely decorated in Thai mix oriental look which blend into the whole hotel design. Big bathroom, comfortable bed. We had breakfast which served al a carte this time. To me breakfast was Ok, limited options.
Like the long pool, and there was a several spot which Instagrammable. Overall, I recommend this hotel if you prefer to stay in old city and quite ambiance.

Chala Number 6 is a oasis of tranquility in busy old town. The suite was superbly decorated with all the amenities you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The garden are is small but it fits a nice pool area and a bar fitted with a pool table. Why the 4 stars? The restaurant, especially the breakfast, is below par. The suite was facing the busy street and a noisy school. Kids manage the street traffic and blow their whistle from 7:00am: instead of installing double windows, the management just provides earplugs to its guests!

This was a birthday "staycation" and it was fabulous! The architecture, amenities, gardens, pool, lotus ponds, sculptures, art, and decor of hotel and rooms are stunning. When we usually stay in an old city hotel, we walk around in the afternoon and evening to soak,in the markets and walking streets and vibe. Chala 6 was so lovely and peaceful, we did not leave the entire stay! The staff is sincerely the best ever! They were attentive yet not overbearing. The breakfast buffet has the usual varieties of European, western, Thai and Chinese offerings. All the food at lunch and dinner was tasty and very fresh. They have the best roasted tomato soup! The rooms are spacious and the large bathroom was the nicest with a soaking tub, huge shower, and shavers with wooden handles marked Chala 6 that have exchangeable blades, so they can be used again and again. It was my birthday so the room had balloons and a towel "cake" covered in roses. They gave me a slice of chocolate cake with a candle at afternoon tea! Everyone was so kind and sweet. We will definitely book this hotel again.

Everything about our 7 night stay was fantastic. Our room was spacious and clean, and we were warmly welcomed with tea and fresh fruit. The pool area is lovely, the rice barn in the courtyard is where a complimentary tea is offered daily. We took advantage of this once, it was very nice. The complimentary breakfast is nice to have, and rather useful as we often did an excursion starting early, however the options were a bit limited for our long stay and got repetitive, so we sought out options elsewhere. The complimentary mini bar was an especially nice touch and after a long day of exploring we really enjoyed it!
The location of this hotel is wonderful. The Sunday night market is right outside the door, which is a can't miss activity if you are in town. There are many great restaurants and shops within walking distance and a Grab got us quickly and cheaply to all the other places we wanted to go.
