Neighborhood
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.

Front desk not very helpful (especially the night shift Men). The ladies in the day were better but still not willing to go too far out of their way to help. (Be sure you know where you are going or need to go because they were not very helpful)The best thing about the place was the location of China Town Markets. I would not stay here again.

Greeted by four girls in Muslim clothing, some smiling and others dignified, upon check-in, you will know that you have found a clean place. The rooms are tastefully decorated — not huge, but logically laid out (as there is a stainless steel sink in a counter top on the balcony, in case you need to do laundry). Adding to the cheer are eight LED spot lights in the room (plus three more LEDs in the bathroom), you will never get the dingy feeling as would in most hotels at this price range. Outside is Chinatown, bustling to the point of being hectic, this Pho Place is a quiet haven in a sea of noise, aroma, and colors. Ahhhh ... And when the hotel sells drinks at the same price as 7-11, you know you can sleep well.

We stayed here over 2 nights, and the room was very spacious! There is a balcony with a sink as well. The shower and toilet are in the same area and we found water dripped out of the shower curtains at times. We paid extra to early check-in and the hotel is relatively quiet as it is down an alleyway - the area felt safe even at night. It is located close to Chinatown and 15 minute walk to the train station (although this proved difficult when it was very hot to walk). There is a small tea break room in the lobby where you can purchase limited snacks.

We spent 3 nights as Pho Place in Banglok, which has a few rooms that are Zen Rooms. We booked as Zen Rooms as we were familiar with their standards. The hotel was at the end of a small alley off Yaowarat Road, so we were sheltered from the street hustle and bustle. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Sound in the hallway could be heard if the other guests were not courteous enough to keep their voices down. Yaowarat Road night time street stalls were just to the left of the hotel. Bangkok Hua Lamphong Train Station was a 10 to 15 minute walk away. We were also walking distance to the ferry terminals. We would stay here again if we were back in Bangkok.

It is a bit hard to find, but the place looks new, is clean and the service is kind. We stayed here specialy for Chinatown and because it is near the trainstation. The location is great. The room we had was spacious and even had a little balcony with a tap and sink. Not a bad place to stay.
