The property is is dire need of a face-lift and basic maintenance. Stayed in rm 410, room had faint mildew odor and leaky plumbing fixtures. On the plus side the sheets were clean and bed was comfy. The hotel is in a good location with nearby access to Sathorn Pier and BTS Station.
The Hotel is very central. The pool is small but sufficient for a quick cooling. The view from the roof garden is spectacular. The rooms are spacious and include a safe, AC, a large fridge, a kettle including coffee or tea and a bathtub (deluxe room). The breakfast is ok, but a bit more comprehensive in other hotels. Not at all okay is that the staff is obviously unwilling to order a regular metered taxi. Either the trip to the airport is offered for a flat rate of 600 baht with a private Car/Tranfer, or, only after repeated requests, a taxi is ordered via Grab-Taxi with a fixed price of - in our case - 350 baht excluding highway fees. When we then insisted on turning on the taximeter, which is also the law in Thailand, we ended up paying 305 baht excluding highway fees. Here the hotel should be able to learn and offer its guests a regular taxi service.…
This is a very good hotel in Bangkok; yes, it is a bit outdated, but it is clean and puts you in the middle of everything as you can either walk or take a bus/taxi/metro/boat to where you want yo go. The staff are very nice amd polite, and the rooms are quite large.
Loved everything about the Grand Sathorn . Our 2nd stay here and no negatives . Don’t expect 5 Star but is Excellent value for money in convenient location . Service is still 5 Star ! Thank you to the Grand Sathorn team for making our stay relaxing and uncomplicated . Handy to everything ! We’ll be back again !
I don't have words for the crew, they're just amazing. When I checked in to the hotel, I was told that the hotel was under renovation and that the pool was not available for a month or so. But they gladly upgraded my booking to an executive suite room free of cost. The way the hotel staff and the restaurant staff interacted was example of his to win customs even when you are going through bad patches. Thanks.
l stayed with a group of friends in 3 separate rooms while visiting Bangkok. The location of this hotel puts you in the middle of everything. shopping, train station, spas, and restaurants. The hotel itself is older and some work could have been done to the bathroom. But we spent most of our time sightseeing
For £40 a night, this was stunning value for money. Located slap bang in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a local Thai neighbourhood, but this did not impact on the sleep quality - our room was a large, comfortable suite and perfectly quiet. Very handy for some excellent eateries - the best food we had during our whole stay - Food made for locals and much better and tastier than the food we ate on backpacker street. Staff were friendly and helpful, and although the hotel is surrounded by skyscrapers, tower blocks, typical streetside homes and commerce of the locals, it retains its charming presence once you climb the steps to reception. A peaceful, calm oasis amidst the clamour of the Thai backstreets. The rooftop pool excellent with lovely cityscape views at night. Nice cocktails too! This is not a central location, but its very convenient for the skytrain (which makes the whole city accessible) and the river ferries. Be mindful to take the municipal ferry rather than the private ones, much cheaper, plenty of space (despite what you might be told) and it gets you right into the heart of the palace quarter. We stayed here for five nights and much preferred this location to where our friends were staying nearer to traditional backpacker areas.…
We loved this hotel for a very pleasant situation near to the Skytrain and the express boats on Chao Phraya river in a lively quarter with small restaurants and shops. Nice for an evening stroll. The highlight of the hotel could be the pool area on the rooftop (8th floor) with frangipani trees, a small gym and a bar. After the renovation the pool is just 50cm deep - ridiculous. The gym is outdated and not clean, the bar is closed most times. So our main point we stayed here multiple times is gone. The room is spacious but the bathroom with low water pressure needs maintenance and new appliances. We had breakfast only once which was more for Asian tourists and much too pricey for the offer. The staff at the reception is just "doing the job", speaking poor English and will forget any point you mentioned 2 hours before. Sorry, we accepted a lot of small fails and old furniture but without the swimming pool, there are better places in BKK.…
Room and overall hotel not very clean. Gym look good in the pics but actually very very and out dated and worst of all Dirty dirty dirty. Staff were not very fluent in English (hotel has a 4star rating )? These are very difficult times and checking process was not smooth welcome drink was Sugar water with colour. In-room Amenities were poor. If we went to the pool bar no one offering or selling anything. Gym was really old and dirty. Equipment full of sweat stains and so were the glass walls dumbles . only 5 pairs of rusty . In these times where there are not many guest its a great time to clean. There is no managerial presence as no one seems to know whats going on. It should not have a 4 star rating (this is gross misrepresentation as services do not match)
Shabby hotel. Very small ants in the room and bed. I wake up when they crawled over me. Dirty floors. God food at 9.flor. The slippers had to be left behind, or it cost thb 200,- each pair. God breakfast
