New Siam Guest house I was a good budget option. Rooms were cheap but pretty clean, despite some ants in the bathroom. The AC was great and really cooled down the room well, and also had cable TV. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was eatable. The location was really nice, close to a lot of...

Another good budget option we found during our Thailand trip. Great location, on a small street behind the temple 7 mins walk from Ko San Road. Plenty of life around the hotel! 5 mins walk to the river too. Sparse but clean rooms, nice hot shower, a/c worked well, safe in room (you provide padlock though). Only minor gripe is...

overall was relatively happy with this hotel at the price paid. Check in took a long time but the staff were friendly enough and there were no problems with the bookings. The rooms were basic with just enough room for a couple of beds and a small table. The room had an aircon system and on suite (these rooms cost...

we stayed here a few times in our trip to thailand. nothing fancy, and rooms kind of look like hospital rooms. but everything was clean and comfortable and definitely a good price at 600 baht a nice for a double a/c room. can be a bit noisy with doors slamming and other guests. would definitely recommend it for the budget...

We arrived very late into bangkok after a long flight from the states. I had booked a room thru their website and had a nice , quiet stay . The rooms are basic, and the shower was hot, nice after a long journey. The rooms had air con as well , and a choice of fan also, the little extra...

This was absolutely fine. In a brilliant location (just off the the main drag in a quiet side street), and the room was pretty standard - not absolutely glorious, but clean with a hot shower (not exactly a power shower, but more than adequate), and very efficient air conditioning. We felt safe and relaxed here - it was also quiet...

I had a great experience at the New Siam I. A little let down by the room on first inspection, as it didn't match the glamorous photos on the website, but I chalk that up to fancy camera and lighting tricks. For a home base for visiting Bangkok, New Siam proved to be perfect. It is located down a small...

The web info and pictures looked great. When we got there, it wasn't what we anticipated. The furniture was worn, paint chipped, walls grey.... Our double room was a bit too small for 2 but reasonably clean. It stank of cigarettes until we burned incense constantly for a day and left the window open whenever possible. And the toilet didn't...

I spent a month in Thailand and stayed at both New Siam I and II. Both are great guesthouses, although I prefer the location of New Siam I better. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms and showers are shared, but there was never any problems with them. Always got in and had hot water. The restaurant and tour desk are...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
