We've stayed in New Siam Palace View and New Siam II, but New Siam I is letting down the name of New Siam in Bangkok! It was the worst place we have stayed in the whole of Asia because they were just so extremely rude...on top of that towels were ripped, shower was a drizzle, Internet was intermittent and very... Amazing location down a little side street off Soi Rambuttri. You are so close to the action here but the guest house itself is nice and quite. There are many rooms to suit all budgets, I tend to go for the cheapest room - single bed fan shared toilet. it's clean and safe so what more do you really want... More

The room is pretty small but cleaned. We had a shared bathroom which was clean regularly. The receptionists could be nicer and smile more but then again we barely got to see them. Overall good budget hotel. Safe and cleaned, which is the most important place.

let me not mince words, when it comes to securing a SUB 300 baht room in this particular area around Soi Rambutri, which is not only clean, but has free wifi, a power point, basic nice furnishings, AND a nice veiw of near by wat temple from an OPENING window with fly screen, this place HAS to be the pick!... We booked the room on their website and we pay in advance. Price 350 thb for room with fan and shared bathroom is not average. Room was very basic. There was no blankets. And it was really hot inside. From the window you can see beautiful dirty wall of other building. Bathroom could be more cleaner. The most pathetic we... More

Excellent location, only 10min walk to Khao San Road with a cool bar and massage orientated alley only 1 minute away. Friendly staff with a decent restaurant, it has everything you could possibly need. Sleeping is comfortable and good value for money, couldn't recommend enough.

The conditions and locations are quite ok. The place looks clean. The ladies on the reception are inconvenient and impolite, speaking with you with an arrogant manner. Let's see the facts: - For two times I needed to request to speak with me without yelling; - they round up the credit card charge without advice; - they don't allow any... More

A great place to stay. In the past we always stayed ad new siam 2. But the resend modernisation made it more for families (also a great stay, but not where we were looking for). The room was clean and big. The staf is nice and the prices are okay. Best of all, it's only a few minites from the... More

I booked a single room in New Siam in advance and this was a mistake. Though the room was relatively clean, it was almost impossible to sleep there. The single rooms are on the 5th floor, exposed to the sun all day long. It felt as it was about 60-70 Celsius in the room half an hour after the sunset.... More

I stayed in Bangkok for 5 days at this guest house. We traveled in a big group of 30 people and rented 10 rooms. Altough this place was located near all those tourist attraction (i.e. Khaosan Road, Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Chao Praya River), the staff didn't show that this hostel was a part of tourism industry in... Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
