I can only confirm the positive notes that others have offered about the Baan Chantra and its lovely owner Kulthida, who established the B&B in a property that formerly housed her grandfather's medical practice. The accommodations suited us perfectly, and we enjoyed planning our next breakfast with our hostess almost as much as we enjoyed eating it. We even woke...

The location is perfect to arrive to the monumental area of Bangkok ( you can instead go by foot), the rooms are spacious and the tratment was incredibly kind. An extremely peaceful and well-kept small hotel. There are, I think, only seven rooms. During our seven day stay, we stayed in two of their rooms, and each room was extremely well kept. The owner of the hotel was one of the highlights of Bangkok. She is delightful, extremely helpful, and makes you feel fully at home. I always felt...

We spent four very comfortable days at Baan Chantra and could not have been happier. The owner, Kulthida, cooks great Thai breakfast. We loved the reading nook on the second floor balcony overlooking a real local soi with wooden houses. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, but within walking distance of everything: Wat Pho, a boat taxi pier, Vinmanmek Palace....

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Baan Chantra. Kulthida and her staff really went out of their way to make us feel welcomed like family in this lovely hotel. She was there to welcome us when our arriving flight was delayed past midnight. She and her staff were so friendly and helpful during our stay. We really...

We were looking for something cosy, familiar for our last night in Bangkok so we discovered the Baan Chantra which was simply adorable. The owner and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They answered my reservation request right away which helped us a lot. There is a very comfortable small lounge upstairs with armchairs, wonderful teak decorations and the...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
