Me and my boyfriend booked a night here for our last day in Thailand before going home after a month. Thankfully we only booked the hotel to keep our bags in ect whilst we went out for the day as our flight was at 2am the morning. If I had been staying overnight I would have gone straight back to... For my entire life I never wanted to write a review in agoda or tripadvisor but this hotel deserve what they had done to me and my family . Reception lady was very rude (can't remember the name but she was the one with full make up and no SMILE on her face) , she was not answering my questions... More

We spent our very last night of 3 months travelling at the Sawasdee Smile Inn. First of all i have no idea why its called the smile inn, the lady at the front counter didnt even look up at me let alone smile. The double room with air conditioning we booked was like a prison cell. The bed was barely... More

Originally booked a room online for the Welcome Sawasdee Inn (around the corner) which looked lovely on the Internet to find it was apparently 'under reconstruction' and we were directed to Sawasdee Smile Inn. Probably a load of rubbish that it was under reconstruction. Anyway the hostel is basic. The rooms were fairly clean... The bedsheets looked clean anyway. The... More

Upon arrival at Sawasdee guesthouse we were greeted by a VER rude receptionist. The lady grunted at us when asking us questions rather than speaking in a kind manner and would look at us every now and again like we had 5 heads. After she had given us our room key she did not direct us to our room so... More

I've been in a hovel or two, but this takes the absolute biscuit. I think I'd sooner have slept in the street than in this place - the only saving grace was the lovely man who helped me with the coffee machine at the (very appallingly ridiculously poor) breakfast. Toast. That was it. Toast and juice. I guess you get... More

This place is awful. From start to finish. The reception lady was completely rude when we checked in. The lobby are and coriors were filty, dirt on the floors, walls, creaking sairs, dirty laundry in the corridors, rubbish on the floors. The 'deluxe' room we ordered: FILTHY, stained walls, stained ceiling, stained bedsheets, just one hairy ragged towel, hairy blanket,... More

Dirty, smelly. But not the ordinary dirty, more like the "haven't seen a broom since 1977" kind of dirty. ... And I was born and raised in an eastern European country... Not sure why the TV in the room, probably to entertain the cockroaches. It has some really nice spit marks on the wall you can enjoy watching or counting... More

The dirtiest, filthiest, smelliest place I have ever been. The whole room was infested in ants - the bed, pillows, sheets, everything. We got one towel for two people which was ripped to shreds and absolutely useless. The windowsill was rotting, the shutters on the window had come off so there wasn't anything there it was pretty much just a... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
