You've got everything at your door step (7-11, restaurants, busy night life, Khao San Road around the corner). I'd say this was a pretty awesome visit; we paid $93 USD for three nights. Sure it's not a luxurious stay; but the beds were clean and the safe was secure. It's not a far drive from the temples (we took tuk... More

The hotel is a reasonable price and in a good location. Rambuttri os very bustling in the evenings, lots going on, really cool at night for a leisurely drink and wander and the madness of Khao San road is just a 3 minute walk away. The hotel lobby is nice, the staff on reception helpful and efficient. There is a... More

I don't get the positive reviews on here ,this place looks nice when approaching but the staff are the most miserable & unhelpful I've encountered. Its not as though its cheap 1300 bht for a basic room nr KSR !!! Some people must have more money than sense but I suspect that most people here are on package type holidays.... More

The hotel is ok.but being my first trip to Thailand, the area was madness to me.The hotel is a sort of refuge from the chaos outside in the streets,ok if this is what you want.Reception is constantly busy, itys a busy hotel,so not much friendliness from staff, only efficiency,,,,'next.....next.....next....'The swimming pool is really busy,no room to swim because of the people. The room was... I've put Marmite as my title for this place as you'll either love it or hate it. Here's my experience... Got there & the outside looked very nice & welcoming. The receptionist who checked me in was unhelpful, miserable & snappy with me when I asked any questions. I got to my room & it was horrible but I'd just... More

Booked here for two nights and it was fine. I wasn't given much info on arrival, none actually so FYI breakfast is 6.30-10.30 in the restaurant next door to the reception, you need to ask for a wifi code at reception and you can leave your bags (for up to three months!) in a guarded room - didn't see the... The location is good, if you want to walk around in the old part of the city and temples. The malls and fancy night life are in the other side of the city. Far from the subway and skytrain. The swimming pool closes at 6 pm. so, forget about using it if you want to see the city. The shower... More

Location is quite good, room was clean, but the street is quite noisy to the late night hours, so be careful where are situated your windows. The pool on the roof was quite ok after the walking in hot streets of Bangkok, but it has got limited opening hours (8a.m.-8p.m.), I would preffer it to be opened earlier in the... More

Great location, close to Khao San Rd but just far enough away to be able to get some sleep. The bathroom/shower set up is terrible (no shower screen, toilet gets wet) but it's fine for one night. In room safe and firm bed. Fair price for location and service. Good for one night stay.

We've stayed here on two separate trips to Bangkok. It's a good compromise if you want to be amongst the action in the backpacker area of Bangkok but do not want to stay in a very noisy street or in shared/basic accommodation at a hostel.

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
