Great central location in Chinatown with easy access to all Bangkok has to offer. The staff were excellent and we really enjoyed the Jazz in the wonderful restaurant. The decor is interesting and tasteful and with the complimentary meal and massage made this visit a wonderful experience.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this hotel! It was clean, in a central location and had an amazing staff! Everyone was so friendly and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The rooms were quirky and comfortable and as an added bonus, the Shanghai Mansion provides a complimentary mini bar! Will definitely be returning the next time... More

I stayed here for 5 days and couldn't have been more pleased. Check-in and check-out was super easy. The staff was great... Especially "Nuay". I felt safe in the area (I traveled alone). Plenty of places to eat (restaurants and food carts) around the hotel. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast buffet and cafe/bar downstairs was really good. Only... More

Great place to stay in Bangkok's Chinatown. I was a little nervous when it was so affordable, but the hotel was modern, clean and spacious. It also had a funky vibe that I really enjoyed. I strongly recommend for anyone staying in Bangkok.

The Shanghai Mansion does a good job of recreating ye olde worlde charm of China of old. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and comfortable, if a little dim. Most do not have a window and although there are modern LEDs, at least one decent reading light would have been a bonus. Well located for the sights of Chinatown and... More

My girlfriends and I (early 30's) stayed here while in Bangkok for two nights. There is a great band that plays by the bar in the evenings, the rooms are clean and the decor of the hotel is beautiful. It's very easy to get a Tuk Tuk and go anywhere you want in the city. The hotel is located right... More

Very exotics. Very modern chinese style. Staffs are all very helpful and polite. I prefer the 3/F more than the higher ones. More openness in design. Bar is cool but closed too early. However, i cannot bear to meet up all little cockroaches in my room every night. That's the only reason i won't choose to stay there again.

Bangkok was our starting place for a five week tour of Southeast Asia. The Shanghai Mansion came well recommended so we started our journey from that location. The hotel was very good, the room was well appointed and we really enjoyed the restaurant for breakfast and the lounge on the main floor after a day of touring. We also arranged... More

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
