This is a great place to stay in Bangkok. We had ground floor rooms at the back. It was quiet despite the owners having noted construction out front. The rooms are comfortable. The breakfast is great. The location is very near key visitor spots but we usually used taxis instead of walking in the heat because they are so cheap (usually around $4). The staff is incredibly helpful. The only downside was the lack of fancier restaurants nearby (but still lots of good food to be found).

We loved staying here. It is fairly close to most attractions in the Old City. While there is subway construction across the street, our room was serene. The AC worked well. The Inn is in an old shopkeepers building, and it is filled with antiques. You will not have a typical sterile hotel room but one furnished with found items from other buildings, antique chests, etc. Beds were good, a tad hard for us, as are most beds in SE Asia. Breakfasts were simply wonderful, varied, and yummy. We loved coming back after a day’s site seeing and having a cold beer in our room as we recovered, showered and cooled down. Also, do not miss the evening bicycle ride with Jason. The monuments are all lit up and shimmering at night. Jason and his staff were wonderful, caring hosts.

They can arrange transport for you and I highly recommend doing so, as it is a looong ways in from the airport. They would also arrange local rides to attractions and let us know the fixed fare, which relieved a lot of stress for us.

This is my third stay in a year. The construction of an underground station outside the hotel can seem daunting. I brought a friend who has never been to Bangkok or to OCBI. She said she was surprised the construction noise wasn’t as noticeable as she had expected once she was inside. It can seem chaotic outside but once you are inside this lovely, beautifully curated hotel, it is bliss.

The staff are always very welcoming and super helpful with information. They often offer to help with Grab (Asian Uber) bookings or to assist in any way with directions and information.

They will also book a taxi to the airport if you need it. My flight back to the US requires a 4am departure and I always need a large taxi to accommodate luggage. The taxi ordered is usually at the hotel before 4am and is exactly what I need. If you have an early departure, plan to have small notes available to pay the cab driver as you will be his first ride and he may not have change handy.

Breakfast is always delicious. My friend had the waffle with egg and bacon, and liked it. I like the chicken skewers with waffle, and the open egg sandwich. They also do some delicious noodles for breakfast.

I have stayed in the ground floor queen garden suite, both of the upstairs loft suites and also the twin room. If you don’t want to climb stairs, ask for a ground level room. The queen garden suite is quite spacious and has a queen bed and a single. The upstairs loft rooms have a queen bed on the upper level and a single on the lower. I’ve found this configuration to work well when I’m traveling with a friend or family member. After several days together, the loft affords us some privacy and space. The front facing rooms have insulated windows which dampen the outside noise.

The twin room which we moved into for the last night due to the loft been booked prior, was surprisingly spacious despite twin beds and our luggage. Because it’s at the back of the building, it’s also quieter.

This is the only place I want to stay at when I’m in Bangkok. The location is excellent for sightseeing as the grand temple, Wat Po and Wat Arun are walking distance (30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace). If you take the canal boat, you will be at Jim Thompson and Platinum Mall in minutes minus the traffic. Yaorat (Chinatown) and Icon Siam are also easy to get to via Grab bike or car.

But it’s the people who make Old Capitol Bike Inn a delight to return to. Looking forward to my next stay!

Near to the The different Wat the Backpacker quarter and the various attraction in the old Capital
Old Capital Bike Inn is well situated in the Old part of BK.

Gives you a unique experience to go back to the Indochine time … French Colonial time in Asia.

We had a family room shared with friends.
Old fourniture and duplex room.
If you are flexible to share a shower and a toilet without doors that can be separated from a Bamboo rolls
Old Capital Bike Inn makes the difference …
We appreciate the wather service every day in a Glass Jug as in Thayland there is a big issue with plastic bottle
Every day a little present for the guest to make you feel as a special guest.
The staff as Jason are very accommodating and helpful.
Breakfast included on choice and very nice sitting in the old reception part.
Small but well served.

Due to a change in travel plans I didn’t manage to make it to spend the night- I was devastated as this was my spoil me night at the end of my trip.
The staff were so incredibly concerned, welcomed me when I arrived early morning and I I made full use of the beautiful room and garden bathroom while recovering from a long journey. Breakfast was truly special, but I think the service and kindness was definitely the outstanding memory.

This hotel deserves so much praise!! Jason and his team go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and welcome. This was our first stop in Thailand. The room was extremely clean, and everyday we were left a small souvenir and note from the staff. The AC kept the room very comfortable which was nice because it was soooo hot in Bangkok when we were there. As well, they had a sustainable water filtration system, and were able to fill up a vase of water as many times as we needed throughout the day, which was very nice so that we didn’t have to buy a bunch of plastic water bottles for drinking/brushing teeth. They were doing construction across the street when we were visiting and Jason and his team were very mindful, even offering free cancellation if the noise was too loud. We had the garden room in the back, and never even heard the noise, so it was not an issue.

I was very nervous about traveling to Thailand because I have a severe nut allergy. When I notified the staff the first morning at breakfast, they thoroughly checked everything to make sure it was safe. The breakfast was amazing, especially the waffles!

Jason gave us a list of recommendations around the city, and the staff even called to set up a Thai massage reservation for us. We did the bike tour with Jason which was so much fun and we learned a lot about Bangkok. He knew we were going to Chiang Mai next, and he gave us an entire list of recommendations which was very helpful!

Overall, this was an amazing experience. This is some of the best customer service I have ever received from a hotel. We will definitely be back if we are in Bangkok again!

What a fantastic little hotel. The staff are incredible and attentive. There are nice little touches all over the place like small gifts and notes in the room each evening, remembering breakfast requests and great recommendations.

It is a little oasis of calm amid the fabulous chaos of Bangkok. Make sure you take advantage of the free bike tour of the City, which is both terrifying and great fun! If you stay for multiple days you might also be able to take advantage of the massage offer as well, which is a great addition.

We are just in the taxi on the way to the airport and I couldn’t wait to write this review to let the whole team know how much we enjoyed our stay. If you are thinking of booking a more expensive ‘chain’ hotel, do yourself a favour and change it for a few days at The Old Capital - you won’t regret it.

The staff here is so sweet and helpful! They made my stay extra enjoyable. The hotel itself is quaint with a lot of historic charm. Breakfast had a wide arrange of options, and the shower had good water pressure and gets warm. I also appreciated that they provided filtered water and water bottles. The AC could have been colder but they seemed to be fixing that the last day I was there. Lots of restaurants and things to see nearby.

It’s worth mentioning that I nearly always write good reviews because I do my research before I book, my holidays are precious I don’t want to take a chance, I want to know I will like it, just not how much….so here we are The Old Capital Bike Inn, we loved it!
What amazing people running an amazing hotel! One of the many amazing things about it is that it currently sits opposite a very busy building site that operates long hours, believe me when I say as soon as you walk through the door you enter a calm tranquil home from home, actually better than my home because there’s not a speck of dust anywhere!!! We were not disturbed by the site in the slightest! If anything it was interesting to watch, as we enjoyed our fantastic freshly cooked breakfasts. Our room (101) the garden room was lovely, we slept so well - apparently it’s the mattress (we were shocked when the secret was revealed 😁) the bathroom is small but absolutely perfect, there was always plenty of hot water, shampoo, shower gel and hand wash (no conditioner if you need that). You also have a massive bath just off the bedroom in the garden room proper. There were no tea/coffee making items in the room but we were offered them, we preferred to have drinks in the communal areas which were lovely and always made with a smile. The best of the hotel are Jason and his staff (sorry I don’t remember everyone’s name) they were so helpful, kind and ready to share your day and make brilliant suggestions to take your holiday to the next level - and when you’ve made mistakes with your booking, sort them out for you! The hotel is close enough to walk to the river, and canals where you can get river/canal taxis that will take you to all the main sites of the city and you have some on your doorstep too. If you are reading this BOOK THIS HOTEL!

We loved our stay here...we stayed 2 nights and despite the building works close to the hotel, we slept really well in comfy beds and were not disturbed at all. The breakfast was really nice and the staff were so great too, they recommended some lovely places for us to have massage and manicure nearby. The location is great if you want to be near Kao San but not in the midst of it.
