Samran Place is right in the heart of Bangkok. The rooms are small and the view not so great as I was assigned a room facing some parking lot. The service at the reception was great and also allowed to keep our baggage post check out for a couple of hours.
The King Phet bus station is about 400m away and you can take this to go to the MBK Centre, Pratunam Market, Chatuchak Weekend Market or Platinum Mall.
The one thing you shouldn't miss is the Pad Thai Noodles served here. We had that thrice, the best in Thailand.
The breakfast was just about average.

The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from Phaya Thai station and 2 minutes from Ratachewi, so is ideally located for the airport transport system and the Bangkok skytrain. However, that where the good bit ends.
The hotel is dated and tired, and looks so much better in the pictures than real life.
Our bathroom stank, and the smell only cleared up after me covering the floor drains with wet towels.
The bed and pillows were like something out of bedrock only the flintstones would have found comfortable.
No double glazing meant lots of road noise until about 3am, which started back up again around 6am.
Breakfast was mediocre.

Good for transport, poor for a good nights sleep, but cheap as chips.
Make your own mind up, but I wouldn’t stay again.
Having said that, I wouldn’t go back to Bangkok again either.

My friend and I visited Bangkok for New Year Eva, and we stayed at this hotel. It is a good option for any travelers with budgets and its location closed to shopping centers and malls. The room is clean and comfortable, and we mostly likely get up at lunch time. The staffs were also helpful.

They are bloody liars! They don't have the airport transport service as they promise here, on the Google, Booking.com and also on their own website.

Secondally, the breakfast service is not "open buffet" as it is supposed to be due to the pandemic (as they say) and they gave us tasteless rice dish and a bottle of water for breakfast. Moreover, they didn't even have the coffee machine working so I was served one of the cheapest instant coffees instead.

No one picked up the phone when we tried them calling at the airport, and when we arrived and wanted to make a complain about our disssatisfaction, we were told that the manager was off from work on Sundays.

Such a dissapointment...

We stayed in late January 2024. Just about 3-5 minutes walking distance from Ratchathewi BTS station. It’s opposite of Darul Aman Mosque area so you will have abundace of choice for halal food there. The massage place right next to Samran are also excellent and highly recommended. As for the hotel itself the front desk staffs are very friendly. We stayed in room 809 and it is in ok condition. Try to get room that is not facing the main road because if you are a light sleeper the traffic noise might irritate you. Breakfast buffet spread was very basic but enough for a light breakfast to start the day. If you put a do not disturb sign when you go out they will hang in a plastic bag outside your door a new supply of complimentary drinking water, shower gel and shampoo for the day. Overall we are very satisfied with our stay and highly recommend it to everyone who wants to stay in this area.

I had the worst hotel experience ever! I will never return or recommend this place to anyone.

The place is unclean and unhelpful, and the staff has a terrible attitude. They are inconsiderate and indifferent and do not consider any situation.

I tried to have an early check-in, but they acted as if they did not understand my situation at all. I accidentally booked 3 rooms on the same day, and when I arrived, the front desk had no solution for me. I still wasn't able to check in, and their response was completely incoherent and unhelpful.

They refused to accommodate me, but they were willing to allow an early check-in if I made a new booking at the front desk, which didn't make sense at all.

They also refused my request for a refund.

This hotel is poorly run, does not accommodate guests, and never provides any refunds. It is of the worst quality. If you want to enjoy your stay in Bangkok, Thailand, do not stay here.

My advice? Never stay here and don't be afraid to complain!

Samran Place Hotel did a good job today.
A driver picked me up from the airport, took me to the covid test location and dropped me of at Samran.
They gave me the room key and some tasty thai food. This was at 8.30 local time.
I spend the day at my balcony and between that i had a real good sleep.
Beds are very comfi!!
18hr they bring me new food. Also delicious taste! And water. I did order twoo Coca-Cola and two minutes later they brought the drinks to my room.
Cold served..
The young man at the service desk called me 18.30 to come down for the results. Put my info to the morchana app while i was waiting at the desk.
So.. this means i am free to roam the streets from now on

If you are looking for a place to stay that is an excellent value, very comfortable, clean, has friendly staff, and is located near public transportation, then this is the place for you. Although, the hotel has no view to speak of, it is comfortable and quite clean (the room and bathroom were VERY clean). It comes with fresh towels, water, a fridge mini bar, and few but necessary amenities. The staff are receptive and nice and the breakfast is quite decent. This all comes with a VERy reasonable price. I will most definately stay here again.

Samran Place is within walking distance to the nearest skytrain - on your right as you exit out of the hotel, i.e. the BTS Ratchadewi. It'd probably takes less than 10 mins to reach the station. BTS Ratchadewi is conveniently located next to Asia Hotel, and is one station away from Siam station where I'd done alot of shopping during my 3 days stay! The only minus point is that there're a lot of staircases at the various stations, but perhaps it's not bad afterall -- it may be a good exercise for the leg muscles, or simply an excuse to get a good leg massage!;-)

As this is the first time that I'm trying out at a budget hotel; I must say that my stay was a pleasant experience. I'd booked a standard room, and the room given was really clean to my surprise. I've requested for a non-smoking room during my bookings, but when I arrived there - according to the reception -- there're no "non-smoking rooms" available at the hotel.

Well, when I checked into the room, there's no foul smell. I think it's a king-size bed with a Jim Thompson picture frame hanging above it. There's a bathtub in the room and the lightings in the washroom was bright - it was great! It comes with some standard amenities - but without a hairdryer. That's fine as I'd usually bring these stuffs with me when I travel - just don't forget to bring an adapter along with you! There's a small mini fridge, and there're 2 mineral bottles in the fridge as complimentary. I'm usually out of my room by 9:30 am, and by the time that I'd returned to the hotel -- my bed would be made, and the mineral water would be replenished!

The only negative setback that I can comment about the hotel is the breakfast. There isn't much choices -- only 4 different sets, and they do not look the least appealing at all!

There're a lot of food stalls in the evening along the pathway when walking back to the hotel from the BTS station, but then again - the food displayed wasn't appetizing at all, and at some push-cart stalls, there were flies busy buzzing around some of the raw meat.

Overall, the hotel is value for money since it's relatively new and clean. Aircon temperature in the room is adjustable; lightings in the room is adequate, and the shower head in the bathroom is not stuck on the wall. However, try to book a room that's not facing the main road which can be quite noisy with all the traffic. The hotel has only 8 levels with elevator on each floor and there's a gift shop on the 2nd level.

The Airport A2 bus at the fare of Baht 100 takes you from the airport to the front door of hotel, so it's another plus point. At the reception - there's a PC for internet access (I can't remember what the charges are like, and a small counter to book some local tours or to book a cab to the airport if you've an early morning flight connection the next day. Flagging down a cab in front of the hotel is not an issue - just make sure the cab driver switch on his meter to read the fares, otherwise, you can always take the next one that comes along!

If you're a fussy eater where food is concerned -- just head down to the basement supermarket at Siam Paragon using BTS Siam which is one stop away from BTS Ratchadewi - fill up your tummy before you head back to Samran Place for a good soak in the bath tub and a goodnight sleep!;-)
