Krung Kasem Sri Krung Hotel in Bangkok was and still is my favorite hotel due to its close proximity to the Hualamphung Railway station. Although it was an old hotel resembling the nostalgia of the seventies, it is the best place I ever stayed in terms of budget, location, cleanliness, free WiFi, free breakfast and free 2 bottles of water... Rooms were large and clean with balcony. Breakfast was good in restaurant but diner was tasteless and staff rude. Couldn't speak English and when we asked for the receipt they just said "no". Unfortunately no tea in room, when I asked for it they told me they didn't have it. My friend received a map, I had to pay for... More

Easy to find this hostel. Near from Hua Lamphong MRT station so easy to go everywhere from here. Old building but room is clean and big. The facility was good..they have elevator. Breakfast is good. But hot water sometimes doesn't work. Overall good place for value. Note : near hostel no restaurant just store. But you can cross the road... More

I have been here for 5 nights and I was very satisfied. The hotel is near Hua Lamphong MRT and Train station. There's a local train from Hua Lamphong train station direct to Don Mueang International Airport and costs only 5 baht. The room was neat and clean, they changed the towel and linen and cleaned the room everyday. AC... More

Pros: Pay before stay, hence no deposit needed. Old but very clean(I can't emphasis enough how surprising I find that level of cleanliness in a 2 star hotel). Their AC unit is up and blasting well. Their breakfast is really limited but sufficient. Really close to MRT station. Chinese and English speaking. Close to some tourist attraction(see the map in... More

Best location for train riders. You cross a street and cross a pedestrian bridge over a canal and you are at the front door of the hotel. The MRT ends in the train station. The hotel is old, true, but they keep it very clean. Mini bar, soap in the shower, flat screen TV (I wish it had a USB... More

Coming from the Airport this place takes a bit of finding as it is not one of the more popular 4 star places. Reserved but friendly service with a reasonable breakfast thrown , this place is not the Hilton but its Ok for a short stay. Within walking distance of Chinatown and a couple of shopping malls, it is an... More

Gallina vecchia fa buon brodo. Old building and stuff. Thai-chinese hospitality. Well organized. Budget accomodation, with solid fundamentals and some treats (flat screen tv, air con, electric kettle, fridge). Nice tough mattress. Dull breakfast, but gratis. 90 seconds walking from Hua Lampon railway station. Worst wifi on planet earth.

Family of 4 we booked two twin rooms for one night, as we were catching a train the next day. It turned out we only used one room, as the beds were big enough. The rail station is very close, the hotel offers left baggage service for free. The breakfast is very basic and so are the rooms with very... More

It is right opposite the Hua Lamphong MRT Station and cross the small parking area and cross the small river with a bridge on it. For Indonesian people, it reminds you of Glodok. It is old building with 2 lifts up to 7th floor. Very basic hotel for budget people. Don't expect too much. There is no toiletries, they only... More

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
