Nice welcome at reception. Our group of 4 Arrived very early and we were allowed into the rooms at 11am rather than 3pm.we had 2 large rooms on the higher floors with a great view of the area with a glimpse of the river.Rooms are well equipped, large comfy beds. I thought it was closer to the river than it is but it’s only a 10 min walk down the road to the river boats and night market. Good buffet breakfast. It’s hit and miss as to which receptionist is on as to who speaks good English so information can be a problem. There are no information packs in the rooms or in the foyer which is a handicap. Booked it again for our last day, great to be able to use the pool, and keep your cases in the lobby before departure.

I walked into the hotel without a reservation and was quoted 1500 THB for a roon with a city view. The friendly gals at the front desk suggested I reserve a room useing booking.com and the price dropped to 550 THB which I thought was a bargain.
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside but the room was perfectly fine, spacious and comfortable. So, I spent two nights.
There is ample parking for those who are self-driving.
The hotel is situated a bit far from public transport (BTS / MRT) but plenty of city buses travel on the road in front of it. I utilized Grab Taxi to move around the city.
On the plus side: there are many local style eateries and shops in the neighborhood. Asiatique is only a seven minute walk away.
I would stay here again for sure.

As already said, very average and old hotel, spacious room and decent bedding but very noisy, in the bathroom you have the impression of "living with the neighbors". Sanitary facilities having aged significantly. In the restaurant, nothing extraordinary but very attentive staff and attentive to your needs once you have managed to make yourself understood: very approximate or even non-existent English.

Arriving at the hotel, the exterior of the hotel says it all. Accept for the hotel lobby (that is freezing cold), the whole building needs an upgrade. My out-dated room (but big for metropol standards) is very outdated. The bed had stains on the side of the bed and the control panel looks like its from the 80’s. The pool area has towel service but has no pool bar or music. Next time when I visit Bangkok, I will look for a different hotel.

I stayed here for NYE 2019/2020 and wanted to be near Asiatique. All the riverview area hotels were crazy expensive. The Tongtara was very reasonably priced. Especially considering it is a 7 minutes walk to Asiatique.
The reception and public areas are very nice. My room was simple, but clean. The views are very nice on the riverside of the hotel.
I found the staff to be fun and happy.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is old, but just got renovated. The room itself is spacious, but it has a very limited amenities. However, the wifi is good and no issues found in the room.
Breakfast is good, although they have similar menu every day. It seems that this hotel catet a griup tour also.
If you just need a place to sleep after long days work or tour, then this can be a good choice

Very dated hotel, too far from the center of Bangkok. We had a room on the street side, very noisy. Average breakfast, not much choice. Staff however friendly. Doesn't deserve 4 stars. Be careful of taxis to get to the center, prohibitive prices!

I stayed here for the first 3 days. Although is not 5 stars hotel but the room rates is very cheap compared to the hotel at Platinum area and the staff is friendly and helpful. I can take taxi easl at the road side just outside the hotel. It just 5 minutes walk to Asiatique Waterfront and nearby Icon Siam. IMO the hotel room is very comfortable and clean compared to Grand Diamond Hotel I stayed here 3 years ago. Will definitely stay here again for the next visit to Bangkok.
