My wife and I stayed here for 1 night before catching a connecting flight back home. Lovely rooftop swimming pool, spacious room, comfortable bed. Have to say the food we had here at the Hotel restaurant is an absolute must, was the best Thai meal we had on our whole trip, and at a very reasonable price! Drinks superb. Overall very happy indeed. There is some building work

Wonderful stay at this nice Boutique hotel. Extremely service minded staff. Can highly recommend this hotel. Do not miss the Gigi restaurant next door - good vibe and tasty food. I with my son and we got a great twin room. The rooftop pool is also worth a visit. I could not find a gym - so if this is a criteria for you - then you may want to stay at another hotel.

We were very happy with our stay at the Cabochon - nice ambiance, kind and attentive service, and a great breakfast. Only dinged a star for the bathroom (tubs only - no standing shower) and a bit on price for value (it’s a bit expensive vs overall value, for an experience which is quite good but not particularly out of the ordinary)

I was in Bangkok for a few days before a wedding and I can't tell you how wonderful and relaxing my stay was at The Cabochon. From the instant I walked in I felt like I was home. The staff were amazing, always smiling and willing to help. I can highly recommend dinner in the restaurant and I loved the casual buffet breakfast each morning in the Joy Luck Club. There is a lovely lap pool on the roof which I enjoyed swimming laps in each morning and then taking my book up later to lie on the lounges. I will definitely return.

The Cabochon is a gem of a hotel in a city full of impersonal chains, tucked away from the bustle of the Sukhumvit main road, it is thoughtfully designed for a much needed respite from the lovable chaos that is Bangkok. A dream location for mega shoppers (if that's your jam), the Cabochon is a short shuffle down to the Phrom Phong train station to get you around town if you don't fancy a 2 day taxi ride across town, and also has some great little local foodie joints and epic quality hole-in-the-wall cafes within walking distance (quite literally, if you love coffee you have to try co-oincidence.. it's about 5 minutes away by foot). The rooms are generously sized, ample storage so you can really feel like you've moved in, the bed delivered 3 blissful nights sleep, natural light to the bathrooms is always a bit special, and the toiletries were just lush. The common areas were resplendent, uniquely appointed with carefully curated furniture and trinkets triggering the imagination to a bygone era. I have seen some reviews state the armchair seating at breakfast was awkward, but we loved it. Much more pleasing to the eye and a better use of space than another room full of tables and chairs that are not used throughout the day and into the evening. Breakfast is a pretty quick meal anyway, much better to eat and then recline with a good book or the supplied broadsheets. But. The pool area. Although cleverly designed, with the use of wooden screens and sliding sails to create a sense of privacy, the pool area overall looked a little tired, a bit like it was set and left. The pool towels were consistently threadbare and peppered with moth holes, and there was some epic slime on the bottom of the pool which in some parts had multiplied itself into tiny tufts of mould, indicating the pool had not been cleaned in a very long time. Not ideal for a 4 star hotel, nor a rooftop pool which likely climbs to some pretty dangerous water temperatures on its own. Equally, no food or drink service? Isn't that one of travels' great joys? I might expect that at a lower calibre of hotel, but it seems like a no brainer at an establishment such as the Cabochon, even if it is just for certain periods of the day? The staff here though, are truly special. We were made to feel most welcome each and every morning, and each day we flew back in the front doors seeking cool respite after the days shenanigans. Would definitely recommend, but somebody please pay more attention to that pool!

Dear Khun CaseyRaff Greetings from sunny Bangkok Thank you very much for having stayed with us and we are delighted to read your impression towards our little home at the Cabochon. We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay, admire our unique design, public space setting and most importantly finding comfort in your room. It is with regret though, for us to know that we have let you down by having overlooked our pool and its overall condition during your stay with us. Thank you for your thorough comments, these have been shared as a kind reminder to the team, for us to immediately rectify these issues. We truly appreciate your attention and these we shall improve soonest. On another note about food service in the pool area, with our very small size of property our logistics is not able yet to support this service up to our roof top pool. For drinks however, we always have it available if our in-house guests would like to enjoy some drinks while lounging by the pool. Our apologies if any misinformation were given to you when you queried about this service. Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback on this media of TripAdvisor, we believe your tips shared from your experience is valuable. We do hope when travel brings you to Bangkok in the future, myself and the staff of the Cabochon are able to welcoming you back. Warmest regards, Ratih and the Cabochon Family.

Really like this space, it may not be a big brand/hotel but it's packed with so much details and effort into its design. From customer services to the designs of the room, I'm very impressed! The interior lighting is mostly dim, so it doesn't justify the photos taken. For breakfast, there's a few dishes to choose from and different stations from a variety of fruits, to pastry, yoghurt, juice of the day and even a small porridge station. I enjoyed the rooftop pool the most, very pretty!! Overall, I enjoyed my stay just wished that the wifi could be better.

POSITIVE POINTS: The location of the Cabochon hotel is great for shopping - close to Terminal 21 mega mall and other shops. It's a lovely boutique hotel with attentive and helpful staff (minus the door hop forgetting one of our suitcases in the taxi upon arrival but luckily we realized it before he drove off!!). They were welcoming and let us have a late check out without issue. Quiet and charming, great attention has been paid to the decoration (careful, the building is not old as several reviews seem to highlight - it's from 2012 according to their website). Breakfast is really wonderful, especially the French toast, and the restaurant also has good food. NOT SO GREAT POINTS: However, the hotel is not spacious and all the decorations make for a cramped interior. We had check-in done in a living space so full of things that I had to sit sideways on the couch. It is not easy to get around in the hall and certainly not in the breakfast space. Bloggers are out front at all times taking 10000 photos and it becomes a bit silly at some point. The pool is clean and quiet, but there is no service for drinks or other as it is a small hotel. The room we had was TINY by Bangkok standards and the price was very high on the quality/value scale. It was fine for one night but so cramped that I'm glad we stayed in other hotels for the rest our stays in Bangkok. Other rooms are spacious but on the price scale, it's really out of touch for what you can get elsewhere. There was a musty smell in the room that a burning candle with oil in bathroom was hoped to conceal but did not. It wasn't overwhelming but I would not want to be in the room for more than 2 days at that price with musty smell in addition. (The building isn't old so I don't know the issue with the smell.) Overall, it's something unique in Bangkok but the price is really unjustified and for that we won't return.

Responded Apr 27, 2019
Dear SarahParis, Thank you for staying with us as the Cabochon, although your one-night stay in our Studio room did not meet your expectation. Just to clarify about our building, structurally it is newly built in 2012, however other wooden parts of this building ie. Doors, window, panels, as well as furniture are mostly antique items which are carefully currated and selected. With the main design concept to present the old vibe of Shanghai 1920’s, our spaces and furnishing are intentionally built to match the feeling which is small and intimate. With our unique design, it is also unavoidable to have social media fans to come through, although we have tried to minimise the disturbance by reminding our guests of other’s privacy. We do apologize of any inconvenieces this had caused. Furthermore, we are sorry if you had missed to have a drink by our roof top pool. For your information, our bar downstairs also serves drinks at our roof top pool and it is common for our guest to have their drinks while chilling by the pool. We are happy to know that the rests of your time in Bangkok celebrating your special occasion turns out well. Again, we would like to thank you for your time sharing your opinion in TripAdvisor, appreciate it. Sincerely, Ratih and the Cabochon Family
