Unclean old hotel. Could get much better accommodation for less in the same area. Not recommended at all. Don't let the name fool you. Busy with renovations, but can't see a big difference where the renovations is completed.

I love this place and have stayed on many occasions as it's handy for my work. It is convenient for the Grand Palace and Wat Po, also Sanam Luang and Khao San Road which runs parallel with Ratchadamnoen Avenue. Currently undergoing extensive renovation in the old wing, the first floor rooms have all been completed and as of January of...

My first impression was that it needs some redecorating...which they are working on. I found the street view room noisy, but I was fascinated by the traffic; tuk tuks, taxis, tour buses, and how many people/ items you can fit on a motorcycle (family of 4 with a flat screen tv won). It is one of, if not the oldest...

The hotel was ok, the room was very big. It is a bit old but it gets renovated at the moment. However, the staff is very unfriendly. It was our last day in thailand so we didn't want to deposit 500 Baht, but they were not willing to let us deposit a higher amount im euros and only after minutes...

Room 246 is one of the non-renovated ones and is right next to the reception desk upstairs - expect to be woken up continuously if you stay here as nobody answers the ever-ringing phone it would seem. It also has no window which doesn't help with jet lag. The room seemed clean, but is outdated. The breakfast is ok, nothing...

Stumbled on this hotel on the way to the Grand Palace, desperate for bathroom and lunch. This hotel satisfied both. Lobby bathroom was clean, enough stalls in the ladies' room. Buffet lunch is a steal at 199 Baht, serving few Thai and Chinese dishes. Fast customer turnover. I wouldn't stay here though, because of the street chaos and noisy tour...

We stayed in this hotel for one night. It is situated near the tourist attraction. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast were normal, some meals cold. We do not use the services of the hotel, we enjoyed the atmosphere of Bangkok.

I have stayed at this hotel quite a few times the first being about 15 years ago. I haven't been there for about 10 years, but visited in December 2016. I must say it looks like it did 15 years ago, and it was fairly old then! The rooms are old but okay. The location is good if you want...

This is a very old hotel right next to many of the traditional Bangkok tourist attractions including the Grand Palace - location is also quite handy for Khosan Road. It's being renovated at the moment and we were allocated a room on the first floor that had already been renovated. The management at the Royal have really missed a trick...

Its good location near the old Grand Palace, Khosan Road, buses network, River boat. At a glance, the hotel looks magnificent and grand but everything looked very dated, need a good modernization to bring it back to its former glory. The receptionists are polite and helpful. There are 4 lifts to all levels. Good size room, large clean bed, dressing...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
