I stayed here on a sightseeing tour. The hotel is next to the highway, but the noise was not a problem. The breakfast was buffet style, but it was good for the price. The room was old. The bathtub drain was clogged easily, so it was painful to have the water back up. The room key was an old-fashioned key. When going to the downtown area, I catch a taxi under the highway, but if the timing is bad, the taxi doesn't come, so it's sometimes faster to have the front desk call a taxi. You can also get to Baiyoke Sky Tower in 20 to 30 minutes on foot, so depending on your perspective, it may be good in terms of both price and location.

To be honest, I did not expect my experience will be this good given they do have a lot of negative reviews. Here's my thoughts:

Pros:

They are categorized as a 4 star hotel: In every country, the standards are different. In Thailand, I believe this is a good hotel. The place looks old and vintage but the place is clean, it is comfy and exactly what we need; quiet place.

The staffs are accommodating: They are accommodating and very courteous. If they cannot speak English, you will know based on their facial expression. Do not take them wrongly as not everyone speaks English. If you have questions or requests, it's best to go straight to the front desk. They speak English and can easily be understood.

The place is near markets: This hotel is walking distance to Pratunam Market, Platinum Mall and Central Mall. It's also near 7-11. (Although quite far during night time as the back gate of the hotel is closed from 10pm to 8am, you have to walk around the hotel to get to 711 which is about 15mins from the main gate)

All in all, it was an amazing stay. We enjoyed every bit of it!

Cons:

Swimming pool: It is under maintenance, not sure until when but it is currently closed. We're there from Sept 12-15, and it didn't open. We didn't bother to ask when it'll be opened.

Buffet food: The buffet food is quite nice but I sure hope they have broader menu. Their breakfast menu is repetitive. Sausage, eggs, noodles, cereals, bami, stirr fried chicken, french toast, 3 indian dishes, fruits and salads. They also have bread, spread, coffee and tea.

I hope they have more beef or pork viand on their menu. Everything was good though, or they can have differing menu everyday. MWF menu is different from TTHS, something like that so the food won't get too boring to eat.

The Hotel has most locational advantage. The room services are extremely poor. Most importantly there no locker in the room, which they have to install in each room for the convenience of the guests. with theft threats all around Bangkok, it is the minimum that the Hotel management can do. Also language is a big big barrier. If Thailand depends so much on tourism, then they need to boost this human skill.

Very bad service experience.... They made mistakes and i pay the price. Better pay more little bit get newer hotel and for sure better service. In the morning when i went to breakfast at gate they already ask mu room and they already let me in for breakfast ( Today i can not eat that breakfast at all) later on they said my booking didn't include breakfast and i need to pay..... The thing "they ask my roon number and they didn't say anything about i need to pay before i eat"..... This very ridiculous. i felt like being cheated to pay something that i can't eat mostly indian style food with curry that make my stomach problems

Absolute no for this hotel. I do not comment negative stays but have to share this with the other travelers and surprised that this hotel is allowed to operate on a destination which is filled with great hotels and tourism destinations. To start with the bed as well as bath linen was badly stained for both the days of stay. We had two inter connected rooms . I understand they this old is on outdated place but never expected the soft touches of hospitality not taken care of. The staff is completely rude. The top management needs to look into some of serious concerns which are not tourist friendly. The breakfast buffet closes at 10 am , the gym and pool is closed on a Sunday. My daughter wasn’t well and I had to get her some soft food, asked for a fork and the answer I got was no service. Asked for a dental kit and this was the same answer, no service. Later on we friends wanted to catch up for drinks in a room and asked for a few glasses and wine opener and were told no service. The slogan of the hotel is NO SERVICE. Fruits kept on disappearing from the breakfast buffet and were never replenished. Lastly at the time of departure we asked for only an hour of late departure and were told we had to pay. The staff had confirmed the late departure only for someone to prompt her for benign not to offer this and charge.
Horrible experience in every aspect of the service . I emphasize that I have stayed in some very old and outdated hotels but the staff are friendly and ready to help. This does not seem to be the case here.

Pros: Silent / lot of shopping options below and around the hotel / good breakfast/ comfortable bed.

Cons: Front staff not guest friendly/ some rooms have bad smell/ intercom & master control do not work.

All the cons can be fixed if you inform the front desk; sound from the next room flushing the toilet keeps you awake.

Check the room for bad smell, master control and AC condition before you occupy it, they will help you out of you report.

Lights are not enough in room and especially in toilet to shave but can manage.

Value for what you pay; also remember- most of what you save will be spent on taxi or tuk tuk to commute to main areas of Bangkok.

I stayed with family and we took 04 rooms for 03 nights, we did Chiang Mai and Phuket and on the way back to Bangkok we took another hotel just because of the location;.

Again, this hotel is worth what you pay.

Bangkok Palace - A very old palace.

We stayed there on march 24.The rooms are very old and full of cockroaches. It is high time this place needs a renovation.Years back this property might had 5 star standards but now I would rate it 2 star.
I have heard thai people are welcoming but the staff at the hotels are so arrogant be it cashier, receptionist and even the BELL BOYS soooo rude.

They are very racist toward Indians

The best proverb that suits this hotel is “Make hay whilep the sun shines”

I’m telling this because they charge you money even for the basic needs ie: Baggage weighing I had to pay
10 THB for weighing the baggage each time ,who even charges for baggage weighing, almost all the hotel provide it for free. And please train you staff to be more courteous or should I pay for that also.

We were booked to stay here by a travel company for 2 nights after a cruise. When we arrived the area outside the hotel is an underpass with stray dogs and rubbish strewn about. We didn’t want to get out the taxi.
When we entered the lobby there was a horrid smell of drains. Then on approaching the reception to check in we were greeted with two unsmiling unfriendly faces. No welcome at all, then when I handed over our passports and filled in the registration cards I was asked to deposit USD $40 in cash.
I obviously questioned this and was pointed towards a sign on the desk indicating that this is required in case of any damage to the room. When I refused and said some hotel hold an amount on a credit card for this purpose I was hold cash only.
I handed over the cash and had a receipt. The room wasn’t ready but we were not given any information about the facilities or where to go. There was no bar or cafe/restaurant visible. After a few minutes of sitting around in a dark and smelly reception area I told the guy behind the desk we would not be staying. He reluctantly asked why and I told him that it was the worst welcome we had ever received from any establishment. I received my deposit back and we booked rooms at the Holiday Inn Silom.
What a difference, door opened for us by the smiling doorman and a welcoming smile from reception.
Don’t book accommodation here, it’s horrible!

Recently stay in this hotel with my family. Hotel is very old but still managed well in terms of cleaning.
Rooms were okay types and will all the basic amenities like tea/coffee machine, dryer etc.
We had requested for the Dental kit and found that it’s paid but we were not carrying the same so finally bought from them.
They were very strict about the checkout timing which was 12 noon and late check out was chargeable so we did on time.

1. If u stay in this hotel u don't need to go for wild safari as cockroaches/lizard are already here.(video proof attached)
2. Washrom were last renovated during year 2000 so that u feel old world charm here(don't expect bathroom fixtures to function).
3. Staff is very friendly if u are Indian , they look at u like u are joker in a circus and treat u like one.
4. They trust Indians so much that they take deposit of 1000 baht from them at the time of check-in.
5. You should be punctual at breakfast and they take it very seriously if u are late even by 5 mins over time , breakfast is gone.
6. Only guest should be punctual however hotel staff is very linient when it comes to pool timing as it is opened later than the specified time. Also it is closed on weekend so that u don't spend time in hotel.
