Stayed here on a quick stopover in Bangkok. I had a balcony room, overlooking the River. The room was spacious and lovely, if a tiny bit dated. The welcome fruit and tea was delicious. I spent most of my time down at the pool which was incredible. I also dined at the Thai restaurant for dinner, took the convenient River boat across to the order side the next day.

We have been selecting the Peninsula Bangkok for a trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary as during the Honeymoon many years ago we stayed at the Honk Kong Peninsula and we were extremely satisfied. Never a choice could have been more perfect! Since the moment we stepped in, we were blown away for the amazing service and high level of professionalism. To be noted that I have booked most of the activities and services in advance, and also the support by email was flawless. At our check in, Keke from the reception personally escorted to our beautiful appointed room where we found the first of many great touches: a wedding anniversary cake with hand written greetings from the management. Then, always the first evening, we booked a dinner in their restaurant Thiptara: wonderful dining experience ( best Pad Thai in the world!) , ended again with a customized dessert for our anniversary and the staff greetings us. What a start! In terms of food, the choice was great and we probably had the best breakfast ever tried during the trip. One evening we also tried the Theme Buffet and the quality and variety were top notch. During our 4 days stay, we selected several activities among the “20 Memorable Experience”: the Thai cooking lesson with Pok, the sous-chef; the Bangkok back street bike tour with Koi; the sunset champagne cocktail cruise; the sunrise yoga class at the Chinese Gong Wu temple on the Saturday early morning; the essential Mind healing massage with the singing bowl; the private and customized visit at the Wat Pho temple, guided by a local monk who taught us incredible stories and habits about culture and religion ( we also had access to areas normally not open to tourists), and ended with a blessing and gift exchange ( and we were escorted by the lovely Sunun and Man - so helpful and kind!) All in all, a luxury experience and a lifetime memory - thanks to the Peninsula staff to make our time really special! An heartfelt thanks to Keke, Pim, Sunun, Man and Pok for havind made our vacation just amazing, nothing was too much for them!

For both business and leisure I must have had been to Bangkok 50 times or more. The hotel’s fantastic pool facing the Chao Phraya river was the most outstanding of all the hotels I stayed in Bangkok. I am never a pool person, and yet I swam and had fun with my family over cocktails and snacks. The green hotel ferry shuttle faithfully took us to and fro the city. Service was impeccable. The Thai people are the best in the tourism business. They should set up a hotel school (not Swiss) for all to come to learn the art of true hospitality. The grand deluxe room (50sq ft) was luxurious and with the most amazing river view. Every morning I opened the curtains and sat watching the bustling, brownish river came alive with activities. WwThe Peninsula Bangkok is still the best of them all.

If you like alcohol like me(still on my first liver though!) hurry up to The Peninsula Bar and ask for “Golf!” If he is working, bounce any drink of him and he will comeback with something even better! Tonight’s sampling (well only some of it actually...😉) An Espresso martini to die for (mixed with rum and cacao), Hanky Panky, Negroni, Dark & Stormy, and to finish up a “Last word!” (Will save the “Final word” for later”... Ask for any of above and I guarantee pleasure! 🙏🙏 I’m sure the menu will be updated soon and “Golf” will be named king of Bangkok drinks! (Disclaimer never met him before but never had better drinks anywhere on the planet! And I had a few here and there...) Do yourself a favor bring some friends and go here and enjoy any drink you can think of(and a few that you can’t!)!!! Picture: the days favorite Venezuelan rum!
