Had to go to the Oriental Hotel, Bangkok for a conference and it also happened to be my 25th wedding anniversary. We booked their fine dining - Le ,Normandie for the night of our anniversary. The team at the Oriental, from the time we arrived made our stay special. Le Normandie was magical in every way. Wonderful, unimaginable, exquisite, would...

This was my first stay at the Mandarin Oriental and I will definitely be back. The level of customer service from absolutely all staff was awe inspiring. There just wasn't anything they would not do to make my stay fabulous. Food was great at Lord Jim's and the room very bright and spacious.

Arrived in Bangkok for a few days relaxation after Hong Kong. This was my 2nd trip to Bangkok and 2nd time at the Oriental. American Express got us the room upgrade from Deluxe to the Premier room. This will be my only negative...I would have preferred to remain in the Deluxe room instead of the Premier. After 2 nights in...

Always rated as one of the top hotels of the world, the Oriental is a classic. Service is outstanding and impecable. The location on the river front gives you a front row seat to all the river activities. A short cab ride takes you into the city center for shopping. The door man will do the translating for you and...

Have stayed here many times over the years, and it had always been our favourite hotel not just in Bangkok, but in Asia. The overall feel of this hotel is just wonderful in every way. This last trip in September, however, there were a couple of things that we noticed were not up to the usual par (mainly with some...

An hotel with pedigree, the world famous Oriental Hotel Bangkok, this hotel has history, many famous people have stayed in this hotel over the years, fine dining throughout, our room had butler service, only complaint they don't have a club floor similar to the Horizon Floor in the adjoining Shangri-la Hotel so no freebie drinks early evening. hotel located looking...

I want to start with a confession: I am biased! Have been staying at the hotel severeal times a year for the last 30+ years and loved each and every stay and each new stay it is still something I look forward to. Almost like going home, no other luxury hotel does give me that feeling. Everything is just perfect...

I arrived at 5 o'clock after much travel throughout SE Asia for business and was greeted with such kindness and professionalism at the airport (by hired car facilitator and chauffeur). Then, at hotel door, a repeat performance, as well as at the desk, at the spa and roaming throughout the hotel. Great attention to detail in terms of amenities, turn...

Staying in Silom

Neighborhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
