1st and 2nd night on our "Thailand Charms" tour. Great hotel. People attentive to our requests. Spacious and comfortably equipped rooms with a mini fridge, a kettle with tea and coffee available and 3 bottles of water. 2 beds for 2 people while we booked only for 2 people. Bathroom equipped with shower and bathtub, unlimited hot water, unseparated toilet. Level catering and bar prices are suitable for us French nationals because are at the same rate as the prices of our hexagon. This hotel has a spacious outdoor swimming pool open from 8am to 8pm daily. Situation: the hotel is very busy street side but it does not hinder our sleep because it is very well soundproofed. Exiting about 300 meters from the hotel there is a huge shopping mall called "Terminal 21". I strongly advise you to go there for shopping as for the restaurant (Thai prices are applied).

Normally when in Bangkok we stay at the Shangri-La by the river but this time we needed a couple of rooms so chose the Montien Surawong and I have to say very pleasantly surprised.
The rooms were modern, fresh and clearly recently refurbished. Good sized bathrooms, comfy beds, superb air conditioning. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The older guy looking after the front doors is everyone’s best friend as they leave, he sorts you out with taxis at the right price and generally asks how your day is going.
Breakfast catered for both Eastern and Western tastes and was handled well. At no point did it seem chaotic.
The actual location is perfect, you literally step out of the Hotel onto the top of Patpong Road and all that offers. Similarly high end shopping or the River is just a short journey away. We used taxis this time rather than the sky train and each ride was between 100 and 200 baht.
A great choice in the heart of Bangkok.

Don't do it to yourself, honestly! The staff don't speak English, even at the front desk, so when something goes wrong, and a lot did, it was almost impossible to sort out! There were numerous other guests who were equally unhappy, and one guest who left because it was so awful. We were only there for 2 nights, so put up with it. So the key issues: - terrible service! Tea and coffee are not replenished during room cleaning. Apparently we are only allowed one tea bag per stay. There was no milk left in the mini bar, so we asked downstairs if we could have some milk (we tried to call, but no answer, so had to go down to reception). They charged us $6 AUD! For a small glass of milk!!!!!! THat should have been in the minibar anyway! - no in-room dining for breakfast. The only option was crowding into a huge dining area, but for some reason all buffet items were piled on top of each other, so everyone was pushing and shoving to get food, and children were running through the place. You have to order your coffee and wait for it - they don't bring it to your table. When we finished our fruit, we got up to grab some toast and our whole table was cleared and re-set with other guests, even though our key and phones were still on the table! We saw this happen about 4 times! - We asked if there was lunch served by the pool, but were told no, so we went out for lunch. When we came back and went to the pool, we saw a lunch menu....the reception staff had no idea! - Don't even try to call for assistance - no-one ever answers the phone. - Rooms and bathrooms are quite small. - We were literally on our way to the airport after checking out with reception when the hotel called the driver to say we had to pay an additional 80 baht because they had booked the taxi. We were literally just at the hotel where they could have told us! When I tried to call the hotel to confirm the charge, I was faced with extensive waits and people who could not speak or understand English. I know I am in Thailand, but at a 5 star hotel, I would expect that someone would have a vague grasp of English?! - The pool area is very small with a total of 8 lounges. - Bangkok has changed and not for the better. Service everywhere was pretty bad and people were really quite rude. - DO NOT take a tuk tuk - always look for a metered taxi. One trip which cost 300 baht in a tuk tuk cost 50 baht in a metered, airconditioned taxi! - The location of the hotel is right near all the porn clubs. Don't stay here for Patpong Markets - they are a fraction of the size now.

receives high marks for its comfortable and spacious rooms, which boast impressive views, although a minority report them as slightly dated or cramped. Guests rave about the premium experience and the hotel's cleanliness, with many appreciating the meticulous attention to every corner of the establishment.
The hotel's atmosphere is often described as welcoming and comfortable. The hotel's strategic location near the Metro Station

The hotel exceeded my expectations, especially given the price for a 5-star experience. The rooms were excellent, and both the room service and reception staff were incredibly helpful. Special mention to the security team at the entrance, who not only helped us with taxis but also offered great tips on dealing with TukTuk drivers and navigating local roadside shops. Breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options to start the day. The location was also ideal, with most key landmarks within a 20-minute reach. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Bangkok!

5* luxury unlike any other in Bangkok. One of the most beautiful lobbies I’ve come across in the country and also some of the friendliest and accommodating staff members. A special mention for the General Manager, Mr Pierre, who made sure we had a seamless stay. I love the main lobby area which has so many picturesque spots and areas where you can take instagrammable pictures and despite the hotel being decades old, the recent renovation really seems to have modernized it to the next level! The room itself was quite comfortable, clean and functional plus the completely unique touch of featuring local artists’ work in the rooms and around the hotel is something I highly appreciate as you bring an aesthetic touch to the room while promoting local talent as well! It truly felt like a great way to subtly familiarize yourself with the country you are visiting! They have a great restaurant as well and I love the fact that the hotel’s location is so convenient and in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a lively area but it’s boundary still allows it to maintain a peaceful and serene environment for guests! The staff has truly gone above and beyond to make sure the stay was a good one and you can also walk to nearby attractions such as a famous Buddhist temple, Wat Hua Lamphong, and enter for 40 THB if you are a foreigner! Shopping Malls like Samyan Mitrtown are also nearby. The view from the room is spectacular as you can see the main roads of Bangkok and stunning structures all around! Their breakfast options were unique and also contained the usual classics so it is certainly a hotel that goes above and beyond for their guests and I will definitely be back soon!

We stayed at the Montiel Hotel as part of a Gate 1 Discovery tour of SE Asia. We spent two nights here. The room was large and comfortable with a nice shower. The breakfast was quite extensive. We had a group dinner in the hotel restaurant. The food was adequate but the service was chaotic. I wouldn't recommend eating here.
There was one customer service issue of note. Tour participants were given one room key per room. The room key was required for lights and a/c in the room and to operate the elevator. One participant went down to receive a second key so that she could go shopping while her roommate stayed behind. She ended up with a 15-minute confrontation with a desk clerk who initially refused to issue a 2nd key. This was surprising for a hotel at this price point.

The moment you enter , you’ll feel transported to an era of 60’s, 70’s charm. The lobby is a highlight, so beautiful to sit around and enjoy a drink night or day. Rooms renovated fully , bright and with a nice character .
The breakfast area has a wide spread and the General manager would greet you personally at breakfast , very hospitable.
The Gym is a nice size gym for a simple exercise and the friendly doorman with a big smile will greet you everyday and help you plan your outing.
Cleanliness could be better at the hotel, towels were smelly and some days stained and some days were taken and not replaced. Soap bar wasn’t replaced despite us being 6 days in the room , so small areas to improve
Finally The area while central and popular with hotels is near by some dodgy adult places so be careful if walking around with children

Located in a convenient location for exploring Pappong and Taniya, I stayed there two or three times about 10 years ago, and at that time the old facilities stood out. They say it was renovated and cleaned up, so it's a courtesy call. The hotel has a large site, and the mall along Surawon Street is conveniently home to Starbucks and Burger King. The guest rooms were originally large, but were comfortable with new interiors and furniture and better Wi-Fi connectivity. There are restaurants that have a reputation for good khao mangai, and you can feel the history of the hotel with its unique costumed doormen. It is not a luxury hotel, but it has a Thai atmosphere.
