Hotel's Favorite
My wife and I travel on business a great deal and in the last 4 weeks we were at the Intercontinental in Bucharest, Paris, Amsterdam, and Bangkok. We enjoyed all of the immensely. The Intercontinental Bangkok has a wonderful location and a tremendous staff. We received excellent professional service at every place we were at the hotel. The Club Lounge was exceptional and the Club Lounge team was outstanding. We really enjoyed the afternoon tea. My wife needed to have stitches removed from a recent surgery and the Club Lounge arranged it for us. A very competent nurse came to our suite, escorted by hotel security. Once security verified we had requested the nurse she entered and very gently removed the stitches and provided exceptional care at a most reasonable price. We also want to recommend the Summer Palace restaurant at the hotel. Excellent food and service also most affordable. The hotel car service was also very good. We also want to thank the management for the Club Lounge remaining open to 23:00. Very nice. We were once very loyal to Hilton, but the minimal service and the reduced hours at the Hilton Executive Lounges caused us to now stay at the Intercontinental. The entire staff we encountered at the Intercontinental Bangkok were so friendly and kind. Each person conveyed a joy to assist us and they were always most helpful and accommodating. Truly an honor to stay at the hotel. Thank you for a perfect stay.

We had a wonderful time during our one night stay at the hotel.

We checked in at 1PM at the Club lounge, having booked a Club room (you can also book a room with IHG points and upgrade it to a Club room with an extra 100USD charge).

We were allocated room 3021.
The room was pretty large, felt a little musty, featured 2 beds, an armchair with a coffee table, a desk with chair, a TV (with a HORRIBLE reception), a safe and a minibar.

The bathroom was large as well, featured a shower, sink, toilets and a bath tub.
The toiletries were the regular Agraria brand.

The hotel featured a beautiful lobby area, a tiny outdoor pool, a large gym, a hot tub, a spa and sauna.

Breakfast in the Espresso restaurant was included in our rate (thankfully, otherwise it would've been 30USD per person) and it was superb. I've written a separate review about it.

The Club lounge was the true winner of this hotel.
It is located at one of the top floors and offers a superb view of the city.
This very large and elegant space is open from 6AM until 11PM and offers all day drinks and nibbles, a great afternoon tea service with scones and sandwiches and a PHENOMENAL evening spread with alcohol, cold and hot dishes and an excellent service by the Club attendants.

Bottom line - this is a fantastic Intercontinental in Bangkok, especially if you get Club access and have breakfast at the hotel. I cannot recommend it enough.

Back here for my 4th stay and 2nd time in a Club InterContinental Room. Was here with my family for the Chinese New Year holidays and check-in was done in the Club Lounge on level 37. Was served by, hope I spelled his name correctly, Chanon (nicknamed Best). He is very proactive in following up on the availability of our rooms as we checked in early. While he was sorting these out, we were enjoying the afternoon tea in the lounge. Unfortunately we were not able to get any of our 3 rooms by the time we left for our shopping spree.

We came back later that night at about 10pm to the lounge and Best was there greeting us with keys to our rooms! He has been very attentive and meticulous in attending to us. I was trying to make a reservation for dinner on another day, and was asking him if we could use the phone to call the restaurant. Instead of allowing me to use the phone, he asked for the details of the dates for the dinner and made the reservation on my behalf. We see him almost every evening and night at the lounge and he is very pleasant in striking up a conversation, asking how was our day and recommending us places to visit, shop or dine. We appreciate his hospitality and assistance!

Back to the topic of the rooms, we had 3 rooms all on level 34, 2 were connecting and I was staying in the one that wasn't. This was a corner room and it was very spacious. Upon entering the room, there is a long walkway with the wardrobe and safe deposit box on the side, and then there is the enterance to the bathroom. The bedroom area is curved due to the structure of the hotel. The beds are comfortable and there is also a work desk in the room. The bathroom comes with a bath tub and shower stall, with rain shower. The rooms are all well maintained and the housekeeping team are doing a great job!

Tried the breakfast at both venues, the Espresso as well as the Club Lounge on different days. There is just so much variety at the Espresso with Japanese, Arab, Indian, Chinese, Thai and Western cuisine. There is also the usual live stations for eggs and noodles. They serve up yummy and good quality food and there's even fresh fruit juice such as watermelon and even a whole coconut. In the Club Lounge, the variety is lesser than what is offered in Espresso, but you are served at your table and you order via the menu provided, and the quality is just as good as the Espresso.

Location wise, this hotel is connected via a link bridge to the neighbouring Gaysorn Mall, and also via the Skywalk to Central World, Big C Supermarket, The Market Mall and the Chit Lom BTS Station. It's such a convenient and centralized location!

With such friendly staff, good quality rooms and excellent locality, I cannot find any other reason not to stay here when in Bangkok!

I have stayed in a lot of Intercontinental hotels, and this is the best so far.

As soon as you walk in to the front entrance, you can feel the superiority of this place. All the staff are very polite and courteous at all times, as I would expect from a hotel of this standard.

As I was booked into a Club Intercontinental room, I was duly escorted to the Club Intercontinental lounge on the 38th floor where I was greeted with the most professional welcome. After check in, I was shown the facilities in the lounge before I made my way down to my room, for which I had been upgraded to a suite.

Whilst the suite was not as big as some other Intercons I have stayed in, it was extremely adequate for two people. My only gripe was that it had an inter connecting door through which you could hear the people in the room next door talking, coughing, sneezing, etc.

Breakfast ion the Club lounge was exceptional. The lounge staff were exceptional in their professionalism and courtesy, and the quality of the hot cooked breakfast served at you table was of the same standard. If you do not want a cooked breakfast, the alternative is a substantial self service buffet, although the lounge staff will fetch you virtually anything you request.

There is a swimming pool available which has its own pool bar; however, the amount of sun beds around the pool are limited, and the pool did not appear to be heated, but in the height of summer in Bangkok, you would not require this anyway.

There are multiple eating options in the hotel, including a Chinese restaurant and a Michelin star Italian restaurant. The quality of food in both was exceptional, but beware that the charges for drinks can be equal to or more than the food itself.

In terms of location, the hotel is ideal. As soon as you walk out the main entrance, then Chit Lom BTS station is directly in front of you. Just make your way up the escalator that takes you up from the pavement / sidewalk. There are also plenty of taxis available - just make sure you insist that the taxi driver uses the meter or they will try to rip you off.

I do not usually post a negative review of hotels but here comes the exception -

1.Being an IHG platinum member we had to wait 2 1/2 hours for our room from 1:10 until 3:40.
2.Assigned to the 19th floor out of 37 floors was by no means a "higher" floor as requested several months back. 3. At 4pm while unpacking I could hear a bubbling noise coming from the bathroom - soap and water coming up from the drain! I immediately called service center. A handyman, not an "engineer" as told on the phone, came. I explained to him and he picked up the plush rug that was wet with leaked soap/water and put it on top of the vanity! and proceeded to open the drain cover and pour a few buckets of clean water in. After he left I had to call service center and a housekeeper came to take away wet rug and clean the bathroom floor. A staff member then came with three tiny pieces of chocolates and a card from service center apologizing for the plumbing problem.

What was worse than all of the above, was, I emailed Mr. Thane Kuhlman, GM of hotel, three different times on the same day as well as the week after New Year's, and received not one reply. If he were too busy he could have someone else to follow up on mess. I had sent the last time to Mr. Kuhlman as well as Hotel Front Desk but no response ever came.
That kind of incident should never happen at a 5-star hotel. Time to consider other chains.

As IHG members we decided to try Intercon in BKK as we had always stayed in other hotels.

We are now sold, and this will be our go to hotel, when transiting through BKK.

Firstly Asian 5 Star Hotels are on a different playing field to anything you get elsewhere (excluding Dubai), for the price (approx $350AUD/night for a premium room). From the luxe foyers, to the outstanding floral arrangements, to the nightly piano bar, to the impeccable service, to the beautiful rooms, you cannot fault the hotel.

Location wise it is excellent for shopping, dining, and commuting on the sky train. Positioned across the road from multiple shopping centres, all within walking distance.....including Erawan, Central World, Siam Paragon, MBK, Platinum, Gaysorn and the list goes on.

Guides will organise pickups, from the Hotel for sightseeing.

Breakfast is superb; including many international food stations for various dietary, and cultural requirements.

The rooftop pool area and bar, is a nice retreat after big days of sightseeing.

The hotel room was of an excellent standard, pillows, bedding, views, space, bathroom; we could not fault.

IC is Located adjacent to the Holiday Inn (IHG Group), and is home to Beer Republic, which offers a more casual, young and funky place for a drink...preferred by my 28yo Son. However, if you like the class of a Grand Piano and singer, you will love the IC Lounge Bar.

The property and facilities are stunning, but do expect to pay premium prices; afterall BKK is the New York of Asia.

This as our first visit to Bangkok and I’m very pleased that we decided to stay at the Intercontinental. It’s a great location. Right in the Centre of town with good access to the main sights and walking to great shopping Malls. Covered elevated walkways are an excellent way to keep out of the sun and can be accessed right outside the hotel
Room were spotless and the maid service was excellent
The highlight of the hotel is the club lounge. Excellent service and very friendly staff. Food variety was great for breakfast as well as evening canapés. We did try afternoon tea when we arrived and I can say it’s the best we have had at any intercontinental lounge. Thank you Intercontinental Bangkok.

This hotel was another 5-star hotel located at the heart of Bangkok. It was the closest hotel from Ratchaprasong Intersection housing 8 sacred shrines, one of which sat physically in front of the hotel. It could easily reached by BTS Sky Train via Chidlom or Siam Station. As being constructed a few decades ago, it was admittedly considered well-maintained. Its rooms and fixtures still looked new even some decorations and systems were not in trend. Its staff were trying very hard to keep up with the standard of Intercontinental while operating costs must be managed to justify current revenues negatively affected by COVID-19 pandemic. Anyhow, it is time for Thais to enjoy luxury services of this hotel at a very reasonable rate and to help prolonging its operating life until its business resumes its ordinary pace.

The hotel is very grand. We stayed during the Coronavirus crisis but the hotel was not managing the situation very well.

We went to use the pool and it was closed, we asked could we sit outside and told no. The gym was also closed. I appreciate it was an evolving situation but the gym had been closed for some time and nobody referenced it. A mention at reception or a note would have been good. I asked as our flight had been delayed and the facilities closed could we sit in the club lounge, this was eventually offered but I was told if I drank anything (tea or water) I would be charged. Not really very hospitable to a Spire member.

The bedroom had a dirty Elastoplast stuck to the tiled floor. Otherwise the room was spacious with a comfy bed.

The happy hour drinks were a nice offering. We ate lunch in the restaurant Espresso we were the only guests and five staff yet they did not seem to know what was going on. We ordered two dishes to then be told 5 minutes later one was not available. We chose one other item, but the first main had been cooked so they arrived 10 minutes apart. Very odd.

As mentioned appreciate there’s a crisis, but I think the hotel could have focused more on service and communication at this time to have better managed the guest experience.

I choose this hotel to celebrate my birthday. And this time, I was very impressed with every single detail. From the reservation by Khun Fai. We were luckily upgraded to Premier Suite.

Spacious room with a beautiful panorama view. Surprised with a cute birthday cake, room set up and lovely gifts from Khun Fai and Khun Fairy. Nice bathroom and a working desk zone with a really nice view.

Afternoon Tea came with variety of choices but what I'm most impressed is the service by Khun Daranee, serving me my favorite Ginger Ale with ice and lemon slices without any request. Evening cocktail drink is considered good.

Spa InterCon is another part that I was really fond of. With detailed service and understand the needs of customers, the Spa Manager, Khun Nok, has well taken care of my pampering journey, offering the most beautiful room with spectacular view of Bangkok. Apart from the magical hands of the therapist Khun Ooy, I really enjoyed the relaxation area of course.

Breakfast during weekend was well organized even packed. Beef steak and my favorite menu is stir-fried basil with minced pork were superb. The breakfast offered different tastes from Thai to Arabic.

Happily, this hotel is still one of my top choices and will definitely come back again.
