It was the first hostel i stayed in whilst in SE Asia, and the hostel i stayed in on my last night after 3 1/2 months of travel. Its a perfect, safe choice for a hostel. If you want to play it safe and have a trustworthy clean place to stay this is it. The boss is helpful and friendly....

Excellent idea to stay there on my first trip to the far east. It's on the edge of Pratpong, the red light district. You get touted all the time. But after a few days they get used to you, if you make your intentions clear. Met some amazing people from all over the world. It is a place of safety...

I booked a private room here on booking.com over a month in advance. I arrived at the Smile Society at 7 am and was allowed to leave my bags there and was told to come back at 1 pm to check in. When I returned the manager looked at my passport and told me that I couldn't stay there because...

We are sorry for your inconvenience. We are small Youth hostel in center of Bangkok. Please note house rule is common that people respects no matter you are or are not. For example, rule on aircraft does not allow liquid over 100 ml no matter you are terrorist or not, and so on. It is a common agreement with ALL...

Best hostel I've been in Bangkok. Very convenient loation, clean rooms and friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast is included and delicious. If you need advice and travel tips I'd recommend to talk to the receptionist. She's very helpful for any kind of requests. Will definitely come back :)

Stayed here on arrival in Thailand for 5 nights and was so good we stayed another 3 nights when we were leaving....yeah its not everyone's ideal hostel and its certainly not a party place but it doesn't claim to be... The location is brilliant, minutes from BTS, in an area where there are bars, night market and excellent street food.....

Spent three nights here in a private room with shared bath. It is spotlessly clean. It is quiet and secure. The location is great, minutes away from BTS trains to take you wherever you want to go. Note: it is a hostel so there is a rental charge for towels, as well as a deposit for both towels and keys....

I stayed in this hostel in the middle of november for 2 nights. The hostel is very clean and well kept. What makes the hostel stand out is the lady who runs it. She is very friendly and helps you with whatever. She informs you about where to go and how much you should pay for something. Definite recommend!

I had a great couple of nights at Smile Society in early November, and will be returning again next week! Very comfortable clean beds, good location right near the Skytrain, lovely staff and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. The day I checked out I was able to store my luggage all day and use the wifi and printing/scanning facilities no problem....

Perfect place to be if you want to spend your stay in Bangkok in a very central hostel with very nice and friendly hosts, clean rooms with aircon, basic breakfast and a perfect connection to the skytrain, food stalls, supermarkets, shopping malls, culture ... The place is safe and quiet though it is next to dazzling streets of Silom. Totally...

Staying in Silom

Neighborhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
