My hubby and I stayed in the Green Room. It is the most amazing place we loved it. The views from the Hotel is wonderful, laying on the bed watching all the activity go by on the River is fascinating. The food is amazing, the staff are sensational. A real treat to end our time in Bangkok.
Both my partner and I are teachers and we wanted a way to unwind after a hectic end to the school year. Loy La Long was perfect for us! A traditional wooden style house, right on the river. Very chilled atmosphere, comfy and cosy room, with a wonderful little balcony overlooking the river. We initially planned to stay 3 nights but then extended our stay for an extra 2. The staff were smiley and friendly and the owner speaks excellent English and is very approachable. Great location in the heart of Chinatown, walking distance to many areas, but still quiet and away from the noise. Altogether, we loved our stay here. Thank you Loy La Long!
The staff at Loy La Long make you feel so welcome as soon as you step in the door. Nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the blue room, and it was AMAZING!!! A true Thai experience. While breakfast is included (and is wonderful!) don’t miss out enjoying something from their dinner menu, you won’t be disappointed. If you want a very special experience while in Bangkok, don’t miss a stay at Loy La Long!!
We spent 3 nights at this unique, rustic and traditional Thai guesthouse on the river’s edge in Bangkok. Thinking back, it holds some of our most memorable moments in the City. I highly encourage you to book the Green Room (rm.#1) which is on the ground floor and offers stunningly incredible views of the Chao Phraya River. We opened the draperies after dark and spent endless hours watching the colorful party boats cruise on by, and by day the views were equally interesting and memorable. My only regret about the room was that you shower in a large cast iron bathtub and overspray control is impossible. We made a mess with our showers. The hotel is tucked behind a small temple and is somewhat hard to find. The entryway is through a short alley filled with motor bikes and wash pans. Thus, it is certainly not glitzy. We found it charming and the staff is laid back and friendly. They will cook you just about anything from their kitchen and their Thai food dinners are delicious. I would definitely return to this most memorable hotel and I would recommend it to my friends. …
The term bed and breakfast is more fitting for this lovely boutique hotel by the river. Hidden in the back of a temple in Bangkok Chinatown, finding your way to (in a taxi) can be a bit confusing. Nonetheless, the seclusion from the main roads, location on the Chao Praya & by Chinatown, and the hospitality of the staff makes this place a must for solo and couple travelers. The photos does no justice for the character of the hotel and the rooms (stayed in the blue room). Your stay comes with complimentary breakfast and I encourage you to try the Thai breakfast options! They were some of the best Thai food I had in Bangkok. The hotel is about a 10-15min walk from two MRT station and two River Ferry Station. If you're looking for a relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of tourist area, where you can explore the city during the day, grab a cheap dinner on Yaowarat, and wind down during the night watching party boats pass by, this is the place to be! P.S. the sounds of splashing waves and passing boats added serene white noise to the environment! Rocked me straight to sleep every night !…
the term "boutique hotel" is used a lot, but this place truly is unique. it's a wooden building built out over the river, with only about 7 rooms. when we had free time, we enjoyed sitting in the living room, and watching the river go by. service was excellent, and friendly. the food, made on the premises, was delicious. the hotel is in chinatown - a bit rough, but safe. lots of food stalls within walking distance (or short ride). walking distance to the ferry.
We really enjoyed our stay at Loy La Long. We enjoyed the fact that we were on the river. It is a great escape from the chaotic city.It got a bit noisy in the evening with the party boats but it quiets down round about 10pm. Just make sure to take the hotels address in Thai when you go out for the day. The taxis do struggle te find the place.
In a quieter part of Bangkok, within walking distance to Chinatown, my friend and I shared a family room in this houseboat hotel that extends over the Chao Phraya River. It has two lovely outdoor decks, an upper level and a river level. We enjoyed meals on the upper deck while watching the river traffic. Breakfasts were hearty and delicious, always with fresh fruit. The best Thai dinner I had was in the Loy La Long Hotel restaurant. The staff were gracious and helpful. The room was comfortable and large enough to give each of us our space, but my awake time in the hotel was spent on the upper deck.
I have been to Bangkok many times but never stayed in a place like Loy la Long! To call it a 'Hotel' does not adequately describe the experience we had on this trip. From the exquisite teak architecture of the building, wonderful artwork and artifacts, the small number of rooms, the honesty system for drinks and the exceptional friendliness of the staff (family), this was more like a homestay. The experience of being on the river was wonderful as we enjoyed listening and watching the working environment and main artery of this vibrant city. The location, literally OVER the river, was perfect for escaping the bustle of Chinatown but very close to it. Two nearby piers and subway stations made public transport so easy as well as access to the ubiquitous Tuk Tuks and taxis to get virtually anywhere in Bangkok. Returning each day to Loy La Long from an exciting outing in Bangkok was such a pleasure and indeed a welcome sanctuary which always started with a smile from the staff. We will miss Bangkok, but will definitely return to this oasis of Loy La Long. Thank you to all the staff for a memorable stay.…
Family of 5 (2 adults, 3 daughters) spent 2 nights at this great boutique hotel. White room was big enough for us and the common facilities even though small are very charming, decoration and ambiance were very chilled. We enjoyed dinner there and it was very authentic and delicious. Shout out to the whole staff, they were very friendly and helpful with their recommendations. We'll go back.
