Baan Num is only for women. It is a gay friendly place, but if you're straight don't be scared - it's still just as great place to stay, even for a longer time. First of all, when I made the reservation, I got detailed instructions on how to get there. I was able to catch a local bus from Mochit... More

Bann Num is an incredible place to stay and if you are a female traveler it is HIGHLY recommended that you settle here during your time in Bangkok. To start it is a gay friendly space and only reserved for women, two things that are very rare to find in this world, and for the wary female traveler it is... More

When I originally planned to go to Bangkok, I thought my friend would be there to show me around. Well, as plans do, hers changed, and I was left to fend for myself. I read about a guesthouse (New Merry V) on the NY Times travel page which led me to TripAdvisor and other guesthouses nearby. I read just about... More

We are from Amsterdam and have stayed in this new place Baannum several days in September. We were delighted when we discovered that there is a women's only guesthouse in Bangkok, this is the first one! We decided to try it right away. The place itself is lovely, it is a huge wooden house in a quiet alley, it is... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
