Imagine a new hotel concept, one founded not merely on providing a place to stay but on the creation of The Concept Living Space in a modern classic with Japonaiserie-inspired design. A hotel that’s more like a private home on the corner of a European street, where guests are welcomed with a refreshing drink and flavorful tidbits as if they were indeed friends in town for a visit or neighbors stopping by. The imagined has been made real. In Bangkok, guests of The Salil, whether in for a weekend getaway or on a long-term stay, settle into a living space that redefines the hotel experience.

ASQ hotel rates are very high. As such I cannot recommend Salil 57 for anyone wishing to choose their ASQ hotel. Staff are very nice. Room is adequate. But food arrangement totally inadequate. Don’t stay here.

There is no doubt that the photos online of this hotel look nice but that's really the only positive about this hotel. The reason the photos look nice is because they are old photos of when the hotel was new and are enhanced to make them look even nicer. Don't get me wrong, the place resembles what you see in the photos except when you get there, it is far more run-down because the management just don't know how to maintain the property to Western standards. I want to be honest with my review to prevent others like us being bitterly disappointed by this place. I can understand why it has had so many positive reviews as we noticed the hotel seemed full of local Chinese tourists who looked like they were enjoying themselves there. However, we are from the UK and were looking for more than just somewhere that would look good in photos, we actually wanted a clean accommodation where the basic amenities were available and worked as this is what we are accustomed to. 4/5 star accommodation to us means good quality comfortable accommodation, not just something that looks good in photos due to the decorator doing a good job when it opened but nothing else more than this. Hence, we couldn't get out of this place fast enough. We paid just over £100 a night and booked the hotel for 3 nights but couldn’t stay more than 1 night. We arrived at around 9pm and found new accommodation straight after breakfast in the morning. For £100 a night, we expected so much more. Once again, if you are after somewhere SOLELY to take photos and are happy to pay a high price for it, this is the perfect place for you. If you are like us and wanted a clean and reasonable accommodation, I would highly recommend to avoid this place for the reasons set out below, all of which I have photo evidence of. -The receptionist when we arrived didn’t seem to speak basic English and couldn’t understand half of what we said, in general she was very rude as well and had an unhelpful attitude as if we were a major inconvenience by booking this hotel. When we called down to report issues with the room, she again was very rude. -The Aircon wasn’t working so they called an engineer to fix it, this took just over an hour so we just had to sit around and wait and couldn’t settle down after a long tiring day because the Aircon filter needed cleaning as we were told by the engineer who sorted it. Surely this is a basic maintenance task that should be done while there aren’t paying guests booked into the room? -There was hair in the bath tub when we arrived, it looked like pubic hair which was disgusting. They sent someone to clean it who just wet a dirty rag and took about 5 seconds to wipe it off. -No provision of milk, tea, or coffee. How can this be a 4/5 star hotel??? -Plug socket in the room didn’t work, come on, this is basic maintenance!!!! -Bulbs/spotlights not working, once again, basic maintenance!!! -The towel had marks on it so was evidently not properly cleaned, this is disgusting and should not be given to paying guests! -The mirror was deteriorating and dirty. -The bathroom blinds were torn at the sides. -There were marks and broken things all around the room, it really needs a good refurbishing. -The wifi was ridiculously slow, barely usable! -There was dust everywhere, literally everywhere. -While having breakfast, there was constant drilling noise from work going on. They were slow to restock items, no napkins were given at the table or at any point and all the staff are just so rude when you ask them anything. I believe this hotel is only staying open due to the Chinese tourists going there, if it opened in London for example, I doubt it would last any longer than a few days. If anyone is reading reviews to try to decide where to stay, I cannot stress enough that this place is only good for taking photos and nothing else, hence why we left as quickly as we could and got a refund for the remainder in order to stay elsewhere. If you visit, be prepared to go to a small hotel packed with local Chinese tourists which is rundown and very poorly maintained for Western standards. We have stayed in hundreds of hotels and Airbnb’s around the world and this is certainly amongst the worst maintained places we have come across. Very poor value for money as it is supposed to be a 4/5 star establishment but doesn’t offer the basics and service is very poor with rude staff who evidently would prefer to be anywhere else. The room was not comfortable because nothing worked and everything was dirty and the breakfast was just about edible, there was really nothing 4 or 5 star about this hotel in my opinion. I am sure there are better places out there so if you want a nice clean place to stay with basic amenities and decent service, please AVOID this hotel and go elswhere.

Immediately on arrival we had a warm welcome from the friendly staff, collected our bags from our taxi and we received a traditional Thai drink while we checked in. Without asking, we were offered a room on a higher floor without asking. When we got to the room it was just like the photos - great design, huge floorspace, option of shower and bath, modern decor. The safe was really easy to use - although it was in a drawer which wouldn't shut properly and because of this the walkway was limited. The location was good - near the Thong Lo sky train station, which is a 5 minute walk away and gives you access to other stations and locations, like the Grand Palace, Khao San Road, etc. There are no significant sights nearby but the train is easy and cheap enough to use. There is a sky bar in the Marriott hotel at the end of the street which has amazing 360 views of the city. Amazing hotel would definitely recommend and stay here again.

During a week-long stay in Bangkok my husband and I were happy to have this hotel as our home base. Tucked away in a busy part of Bangkok, the location is walkable with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, and it was easy to access public transportation to get to other parts of the city. Rooms are well-equipped (although tv and wifi were spotty at times). My favorite area of the hotel was the secret garden - I had tea service there one evening and had the space all to myself which was lovely. The overall cleanliness and aesthetic made for a pleasant stay.
