Neatly decorated. Mix of modern and antique. The double bed we had was excelllent. Staff was mostly very friendly and helpfull. Only drawback is that if you're on the third floor, they wont bother to help you with your luggage. Other downside to the room was the lack of a door to the toilet. You make a big delivery youre in your own stink for 10minutes... All in all very good hotel and perfect location if you want to explore the city or enjoy the nightlife.

Dear Trip44636173644, Thank you for your review. We are glad to know that you are comfortable with our bed and our friendly staff services. We sincerely apologise about the inconvenience of the luggage as we do not have elevator. As we are a small hotel, the toilet design is meant to be accessible freely so as to not feel that the room is too closed. Once again, thank you very much for kind support and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Orchid House 153. Warm regards, The Orchid House 153

Stayed here for 2 nights b4 travelling to Koh Tao , think it was city view room, large with great aircon, checkin straightforward. Breakfast next door was good just don’t expect it to be the same as home!! Leaving at 4.45 am so made us up sandwiches and juice for our journey, large comfortable bed, good value for money ,only 5 min walk to khao san road but quiet

Despite good location and overall building and interior look, the venue is rather not good for stay if you want to sleep well... extremely noise AC external units are something that will prevent you from sleeping even with earplugs. We asked for someone just to look into external units as they are unusually noisy, no reaction from hotel stuff or rather reaction like "it is as it is!" Sleeping without AC on in windowless room is impossible either. I can share video how noisy it was. We were surprised by the staff attitude - first tons of papers, forms, passport copying, writing the same thing 2 times, payment THEN we will show you room! We arrived late (near 1 am), after over 24h of travel. Not a single sorry from the stuff or nice words like "get some rest, we will do the papers later". Papers and money first, room last. Customer? we don't care. Let me tell the example of the "problem" raised by the stuff when one of the glass water bottles provided were taken out of the room purely by an accident - as there is no information of it is forbidden to do so. They demanded 20 baht for the empty glass bottle! This is no money, but the fact they arised the problem about empty glass bottle is completely unacceptable. Penny-pincherism as it best. I asked why there is no information about this, despite the full blown list of "damages pricing" in the room for nearly everything. Lady seemed to be surprised and just replied that she need to get bottles back to the company. Period. If you can, choose other venue. This one will count only money and will not care about your experience.

The hotel is situated in a quiet road off Soi Samsen 1 which is less than ten minutes walk to the bars, restaurants and markets of Khao San Road. However there is also a lively traveller scene off Soi Samsen which is less ‘full on’ than the blaring music and laughing gas bars of KSR. The hotel has a boutique feel as you enter to a reception area with Thai decor and furnishings. The desk clerk spoke good English and we were shown to a room on the first floor. The room was a decent size, tastefully decorated with a dark wood floor and a large comfy bed. It had all the facilities you’d expect from a business class hotel- safe, TV, fridge, kettle etc. It had air con, but one downside was it had no window so you had to have the lights on at all times. The bathroom was open plan with a wet room style shower cubicle which included the toilet. The room rate is3000 THB (£70) for a deluxe room though we had booked using air miles.I’m not sure if that resulted in our being allocated a windowless room as there did seem to be others with windows. One other negative was that when we asked if we could delay check out to 2pm rather than 12pm we were quoted a price of 600THB which felt excessive as the hotel didn’t seem full. In summary it’s a good class hotel in a convenient location for bars, restaurants and sight seeing. The price would be good for Europe but is quite expensive compared to other hotels in the area.
