Tiger Mountain sets standards for comfortable Pokhara hotels. It is 30 minutes from Pokhara; on a hilltop ridge, with panoramic mountain views. With its relaxed atmosphere, sustainable-tourism and conservation ethos, the lodge is a unique haven in Nepal. The lodge has won awards including PATA Heritage and Culture Gold Award. With just 18 rooms, it provides comfort and attention to personal service. An ideal base for walks, day hikes, local culture, massage, yoga, birding, sightseeing and good food. Free Wifi is available in public rooms. Independently audited, the lodge has achieved Gold Standard in the GSTC Travelife Sustainability Audit. People are at the core of every lodge or hotel - over 85% of our staff have been with the lodge since our start, twenty years ago, in October 1998. They are the most precious asset and always strive to ensure every guest has a special time at the lodge.

This is was a return trip to Pokhara my first was a trekking holiday so no such luxury. First this is not for people not too agile as it’s a walk only to the lodge or it was for us the transport drops you at the bottom of a walk up to the lodge. It is also up & down hill to you rooms. But oh so worth it The view is stunning on a good day you can see machhapuchhre. Fantastic to sit on the terrace & look at the view with a sundowner. My room was beautiful large as well as a huge shower. In room safe, charging , hairdryer etc I loved the food particularly their curry dishes. I am vegetarian this is not a problem In Nepal Grounds good to look around & there is a pool again with a view. Plenty of walking can be done close by. Again loved the Nepalese hospitality. Beautiful people. I would return

Dear Lola008, Thank you for your lovely review. You are right that the topography and inherent nature of the place makes it more complex for the less agile. That said, it is the topography that gives us those sublime views. Also, our staff are always happy to assist guests in moving around the grounds. We have rooms closer to the lodge and are always happy to hear a guest advising us that they would need to be closer to the main lodge when booking. With all our best wishes for the rest of 2023 and beyond. Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj and Lalu

This place is twice the price of the other most expensive resorts in Pokhara and the value does not justify the rates charged. There is no split heating on the room, Vilas have very basic amenities and decor. It gets very cold in the rooms in the winter months and hot water runs out quite quickly. There is no choice in food as it is a set a menu for $25 for lunch and dinner and it is basic food served cafeteria style, with presentation for the food. There are no spas or extra amenities here so we were glad to only stay one night. While we appreciate the resort tries to be eco friendly and save costs from all angles, this must also reflect on the prices charged. Yes the view of the mountains (and that too if you get clear skies) is amazing but not worth the price charged. I would actually give 2 stars, but the manager jalak and his team ‘s service is the only thing that is saving this place in my opinion. The serenity of the place is lost by the inconvenience caused in not providing enough resources to make sure guests are confortable in the cold months of winter. I would choose a different place to stay in Pokhara next time.

Dear 199sabirt, I am so sorry you felt we lacked value for money. I would raise some comments in response: 1. We have heaters in every room - either electric radiators or kerosene heaters. 2. Yes our rooms are simple but provide all necessary amenities such as Ayurvedic toiletries, comfortable chairs and a selection of either traditional siraks (duvets), modern duvets and traditional woollen blankets. Mobile telephones are in every room, a wide-ranging information book. 3. In response to guest feedback, we opted for a table d'hote menu and within that framework our cooks are always happy to make special meals for guests 4. We only served food from a buffet (as many properties in Nepal) when we have peak numbers of guests. At all other times food is individually served by Butler / Silver Service. 5. We do not have a designated spa but we have all the services provided by a spa - yoga, massage, meditation led by expert local therapists. This was advised to you on arrival and is also shown in the room information booklet alongside a wealth of other material. 6. You make the old mistake of conflating environmental sensitivity with cost saving - we never make that error. We may not provide something due to its chemical impact on the environment for example, but never as a cost control. 7. Thank you for recognising the excellent dedication of Jhalak and the staff. With best wishes, Marcus Mentor and Managing Director

I have travelled extensively for both business and pleasure during the past 40 years but the personal attention to detail and the overall level of hospitality at Tiger Mountain is second to none. It is clear that the entire team take great pride in their work and the service feels thoughtful and personal. It is a wonderful place to stay with the views from the terrace and the nepali food the cream on the cake. Note; I am completely lactose and gluten intolerant which the kitchen team honoured fully.

Dear Taliew2022, Thank you so much for continuing our run of straight 5 star reviews with such a thoughtful and kind report. Over 80% of the staff today have been with the lodge since they built it in 1998 - almost 25 years. This wonderful dedication has engendered professionalism but thoughtfulness as you perceptively noticed. The views from the terrace and the pool are awe-inspiring as are the glimpses or teasers from rooms and other quiet corners of the natural grounds faithfully tended by Jit Bahadur. Chef Lalu and is team benefit from the organic produce of our garden and from our local suppliers in the community. They are happy to accommodate special dietary needs within their culinary repertoire of western and South Asian cuisine to ensure guests can relax in confidence that the food is safe for them. Thank you from us all and a very Happy Christmas and New Year to you and yours, Ishwar, Lalu, Jhalak, dol Raj and Marcus

This was my second visit to Pokhara and my first time staying at Tiger Mountain. The property is exceptional. Given reviews we read, we had high expectations for the food in particular, which the Lodge easily exceeded. The curry was some of the best we’ve had anywhere. The owner and staff are intuitive and know exactly when to offer a masala tea or leave you alone to enjoy the breathtaking views. I previously stayed at tea houses and trekked, but the setup at Tiger Mountain Lodge was far superior because I got the opportunity to do some day hikes but still enjoy the creature comforts and even go paragliding in Pokhara (which the Lodge arranged). The lodge feels lived in and cozy (but not dated) in the best possible way. Ask for room 9 :) Highly recommended!!!

Dear SST123456, Thank you so much for your wonderful review where you insightfully show the quality of our splendid staff and the high levels of care for our guests. Jhalak and the guides are always happy to take guests on hikes or shorter walks to explore local culture, flora and fauna. A leopard was sighted yesterday at the lodge. We are all happy that you enjoyed Nepali curry and that all the good exceeded your high expectations. Chef Lalu and his team are very happy! Paragliding, bungee, zip line or a sedate round of golf are all options for the more (or less) adventurous. Thank you again and we all hope we can welcome you back to Tiger Mountain in the near future. Best wishes from us all, Dol Raj, Lalu, Ishwar, Jhalak and Marcus

Picture yourself sitting in the private courtyard of your secluded cottage, enjoying lemongrass tea, fresh from the garden, while taking in spectacular views of the Himalayan mountains. That vision became our reality when we stepped foot on the grounds of the Pokhara Tiger Mountain Lodge. It doesn’t stop there, though. The food is amazing, the service even better. Everyone here greets you with a friendly Namaste and treats you like you’re a long lost relative coming home after an extended absence. Lastly, a special shout out to Hari who, not only drove us the the airport, but helped us check in. He then handed us a beyond yummy specially packed lunch.

Dear Waterlnight36, Thank you for your wonderful five-star review. You have experienced the essence of what we all strive to achieve - true Nepalese hospitality for all our guests. Hari is one among many stars - including those less seen but as important such as our dhobis and others who keep everything spotless behind the scenes. Chef Lalu is thrilled you enjoyed the food. The one element we cannot claim credit for is the view and the awe-inspiring Himalaya. One really can understand why they are considered the abode of the gods when gazing at the view from the lodge. Do make another visit and explore more of Nepal…then return to Tiger Mountain and share your new experiences with us. Thank you again and safe journeys, Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj and Lalu

A beautiful place. Not really fancy, but very intelligently designed with bungalows, a rustic main lodge, great views of the mountains and of Pokhara, even a wonderful outdoor pool.. All very rustic, but with every comfort. Founded twenty years ago by no less than Edmund Hillary (!) with many illustrious guests including Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Ask the barman for the key to the library to learn more. The hotel has been hard hit by COVID and also now by the monsoon season, and so needs guests. Please consider a visit, it will be unforgettable.

Dear Markyoungberlin, Thank you for your super review. Yes, we keep things simple and rustic in keeping with our rural setting and secluded situation. Sir Ed opened the lodge and Princess Anne stayed. Prince Charles pioneered the location during his Royal Trek in 1979. All part of our history. Best wishes from us all, Jhalak, Lalu, Ishwar and Dol Raj

Exclusive, private, great food, environment friendly, peaceful ambiance. The top of the hill and nearly isolated location ensures cooler temperatures, clean air and a stunning panoramic view of the valley below and snow peaked mountain range beyond the green hills above. Accompanied by a highly trained staff for indoor services as well as for outdoor activities. During our walk through the forest and village we were impressed by the in-depth knowledge of our guide on the local culture, traditional uses of endemic plants, identification of a large species of butterflies and birds. Marcus, the owner, is gregarious, knowledgeable, highly educated with a great sense of humour and slightly eccentric personality, and is a great fun to chat with.

Dear Himalchuli, What a wonderful, insightful review and enormous thanks for your praise for all the staff, inside and out. Yes, our guides know the local flora, fauna and ethnobotanic uses of local plants - being from the local community they are innately acquainted with local culture allowing our guests enormously privileged access and insight. We place great focus on regenerative tourism whereby we strive to ensure a real sense of place for our guests and also positive interactions between the community, lodge and natural environment. Very best wishes and do visit again, Ishwar, Lalu, Marcus, Jhalak and Dol Raj

I had the most amazing 3 night stay at Tiger Mountain Lodge! The setting was amazing set up in the hills overlooking the city ( which lit up in the evenings) and in the far distance the Annapurna Range. It felt like alittle bit of magic! Marcus and his team could not do enough. Food was fantastic probably the best I had during my entire stay in Nepal! And that little extra afternoon tea and cake while sitting on the terrace looking at the magnificent view was special! I’m will definitely return!

Dear RobynHkh, That view across to the high Himalaya never ceases to inspire - be it gin-clear or more ethereal and veiled in mystery….tea and cake are essential to round out the experience! It is super to be able to supply local teas, coffee and indeed much of our food from Nepal and as locally to the lodge as possible. Chef Lalu and his team work exceptionally hard to create authentic meals - Deputy Head Cook, Buddhiram’s vegetable biryani was excellent. Do come back and visit us again; rest assured a warm welcome awaits. Best wishes from us all, Ishwar, Dol Raj, Lalu, Jhalak and Marcus

Having just spent two days relaxing at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, after a long trek in the Annapurna region, I can honestly recommend this lovely place to anyone who is looking for that something extra and special- for this place definitely delivers on at least these two qualities! Marcus and his team are so helpful- nothing is too much trouble, there is great attention to detail on so many aspects of creating a unique experience, Hari and his great knowledge on the birds and butterflies not to mention the fauna, during the guided walks we did, and also the lovely meals that were specially prepared for us- many from locally-sourced ingredients! I really enjoyed my stay, which was topped-off by the beautiful early morning views of the Annapurnas! Nirvana!

The setting - with all the flowers, trees, birds and butterflies, and mountain views - is restful and gorgeous. What I enjoyed most, though, was the delicious food and the amazing staff. The people who work here are so cheerful and willing to do just about anything to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you, Marcus and all the staff, for making my time there so restful and fun. I was there for a meditation retreat and the staff really accommodated all our group's unique requests and needs.
