My family and I stayed here for a few nighters leading up to New Year's Eve. This resort is very peaceful with stunning views, nice rooms and good service. A nice alternative to the busier Pokhora (but still near enough drive to vist for the day). The restaurant has a variety of foods, all the fish dishes were amazing! The bar is nice and cozy next to a big copper fireplace, perfect to play board games and drink tasty cocktails. We went across the lake by boat and when on a hike over the beautiful terraced hills to a viewpoint of the Himalayas (fairly easy we went without a guide).
First a BIG thank you to all the team for their warm welcome, support and excellent service: I have stayed several nights at Begnas Lake Resort at the beginning to the Coronavirus crisis and once Nepal went on lockdown: the team made me feel like part of their family, always caring and helpful, ensuring I get safely back to Paris, France. The resort itself is beautifully located just on the lake and the view of the mountains reflecting in the water is absolutely gorgeous. The facilities are great with possibility to swim in the lake, there is a nice swimming pool and massage. Food was very fresh and well cooked. The excellency in the service of each individual staff member is of high standards and their kindness a joy every day. Once again THANK YOU so much; keep safe and NAMASTE!…
Sailing from a small harbor to the resort is magical. Upon arrival the many steps up are taken while the staff takes one's luggage. The rooms are simple and quite charming in a homey manner (nr. 9 & 11) with fabulous views. The first evening the staff surprised us with a cake as we were together with our newly wed daughter and son-in-law. Food was fine without being fantastic. The place has a very quiet and relaxing ambience, which is wonderful after 3 days of wedding in Katmandu. Unfortunately, there were too many mishaps for a place of this standard. 1. We went for happy hour in the bar three evenings before dinner. Twice there were mice running around us. 2. Due to the beginning of the corona virus many started going home. There is a very large number of staff and instead of putting them to do something sensible that you can't do when the place is busy, they were just standing all over the place, f.ex. at the pool, in the restaurant, etc. This became too much at times, especially because they didn't provide extra service. In the restaurant service was very slow. No one came automatically with a menu and the likes. At the pool one just wants to relax without 3-4 staff hanging around. 3. The manager was here there and everywhere. This is fine, if you are able to converse intelligently with your guests. But constantly having him at our side asking how we liked the place was fairly annoying. He and the staff should instead have asked what we liked to do and come with suggestions on how we could do these things in the neighborhood, for instance visit a nearby village, see monkeys, visit a temple, go fishing or whatever. There were no good detailed maps of the vicinity with suggestions to what to do for 1-3 hr. trips on one's own. The planned hike with a group was cancelled by us due to corona discussions with regards to when to go back home. 4. Upon arrival we had paid for the entire stay. When changing a booking (staying there more nights due to the cancellation of hike) we were charged 3 x 150 USD extra. The hotel said this was booking.coms policies and wouldn't take on the responsibillity for this not being reasonable for us being charged both all the nights and cancellation fees. We contacted the owner, who reimbursed 1 x 150 USD. This is not OK. It was a very uncomfortable situation discussing this with the manager and staff - and at the same time paying a large amount cash for food for the entire stay including for a number of our guests. The manager and a staff member stood looking at us during the time we were counting all the cash. They earned a lot on us as a group, but didn't treat us in a professional manner. This is disappointing as we in many respects loved the place and would go back and recommend it to friends and family, Therefore, the place can only get two out of five points. A shame, but this is due to poor management and a small-minded approach by owner, staff and management .…
Dear travelers, I stayed several days with friends in the Begnas Lake Resort. Its a wonderful place with very nice, authentic employees who do their best for your well-being. We planned a calm week with Ayurvedic treatment, but it never went boring. Beside the daily message treatment, there are great opportunities for hiking (guides are provided from the hotel), visits in Pokhara, Boat trips, two daily yoga sessions. The food is excellent and all Ayurvedic - this week gave me a great refreshing! Accommodations are very cosy and I just love the tiny, natural bungalows!
We stayed at the Begnas Lake Resort for a Panchakarma treatment in February of 2020. The location is unmatched The Customer service was exquisite The food was hot, fresh and delicious The staff was overly delightful Our room was large and comfortable The view was outstanding The yoga and meditation was perfectly paced. Dr. Saleem was charming, thoughtful and attentive. Sharad, Amrit, Monzu, Kim and Anis (the restaurant staff) were all on point and very skilled servers. Our yoga instructors (Metra and Sarys) we very patient with us as we struggled through the yoga lessons. Our driver Hari, was safe and kind. And the manager (who's name I cannot recall) checked in on us at every meal to make sure things were going well. If you are looking to relax and decompress, this place will do it!! A+++…
