Free coffee, filtered water and tea is available anytime! Breakfast has a selection of egg, toasts, yoghurt, muesli, fruits, porridge and everyday a different selection of nepalese food. Very good fresh breakfast overall!
The rooms are spacious and clean with comfortable beds and airconditioning, that can be switched to warm and cold.
If you want to organize a trekking, you can do it at the hotel, trekking passes and guides are organized from there. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The hotel cares about the environment and has ecofriendly soaps available and minimizes plastic waste.
Location is central to pokhara lakeside, so a lot of restaurants, shops and the lake are 3min walking distance!
Overall a great experience, I can recommend it to anyone!

I have stayed at Hotel Karuna numerous and they’ve always been great. Specifically during the worldwide pandemic and the lockdown in Nepal, I’ve frequented this hotel often to relax in the comforts of Lakeside.

I don’t have anything negative to say about this place. The staff are effortlessly friendly, the rooms are always comfortable (even more so than more expensive hotels in the area), the establishment is clean, the lobby is inviting, and the hotel always has a fresh scent about it. The location is convenient as well-Close to the main street of Lakeside, but far enough to be away from all of the noise that goes late into the hours. Less than a 5 minute walk.

During the lockdown, the staff make me and my guests feel at home and even invite us for homemade dal bhat in the evening if the restaurants have closed earlier than my liking. Specific thanks to Balaram for always helping with accommodation and questions.

I highly recommend Hotel Karuna if you are looking for a place thats comfortable, clean, and affordable compared to the more cushy hotels jn Lakeside.

We (four Germans) stayed at Hotel Karuna for one week and we loved ALL of it. The rooms are modern, clean, spacious and well equipped. What we loved the most, was the self-made soap provided for free in each room. We also had a beautiful Mountain View on the third floor. Plus the rooms are equipped with a large balcony. Perfect to end a day with a glass of hot water ;) In the morning the breakfast buffet exceeded all our expectations. It was healthy and yummy. The staff is super friendly and calmed us down after experiencing our first (short but heavy) earthquake ever. Over all, we can recommend this hotel to each and every one, who wants peace, good food and a friendly atmosphere! And once we are coming back to Nepal, YOU`LL BE OUR FIRST CHOICE IN POKHARA! Ah, and before we forget: They have a suuuuuper cute turtle in their front pool! :)

My go to place to stay in Pokhara! I stayed several times over a period of five weeks and every time did not want to leave! The place is beautifully done out - modern, calm, natural, and light. All the staff are just lovely and treat you as if you're their favourite guest! The free breakfast is absolutely delicious. The location is perfect - very near the main hub of lakeside but set back enough that you don't get the late night or traffic noise. And icing on the cake is that they truly live up to their eco credentials, including free filtered water you can fill your bottle with and homemade eco soap. Fantastic job team Karuna!

We spent a significant amount of time at Hotel Karuna. All in all 3.5 weeks in several chunks.

The place: The hotel is comfortable, very clean, well decorated and well maintained. The rooms are quiet and roomy and bathrooms are clean and functional. They serve a great breakfast along with outstanding coffee and have teamed up with a coffee company called Karma coffee to offer delicious coffee ethically sourced from local growers.

The location: the location is ideal. Tucked away a short walk from Lakeside, it has great access to all of Lakeside without the noise and the busyness. There is a great little garden in the front to sit and have coffee.

The staff: it simply outstanding, they were so helpful, caring and efficient. It felt like a second home for the time we were there. They were very helpful in finding what we needed whether it was a reliable guide, places to eat, or groceries for a long hike.

Overall it was an outstanding stay and it was the perfect location. It is a great place to stay to either spend time in Pokhara or as a base between Himalaya treks.

Strategically located in quiet surroundings, we enjoyed a couple of nights in two different large and clean rooms on the first floor. There is no lift, so the other floors were no option. Staff was helpful, the wifi worked and breakfast was OK (i.e. not overwhelming). Nice place to stay in Pokhara.

Our stay at Hotel Karuna was fantastic. The rooms were comfortable, the location is central, and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. The stay was much more than just booking a room for the weekend. It was contributing towards a socially responsible, ethical, and environmentally conscious business. You will not only feel welcome, but also feel like you are part of a family that strives to make a difference in the lives of both society and guests alike.

Loved everything about the hotel. Decor was tasteful and cosy, the staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was really comfy, we had great views of fishtail mountain ( we were on 4th floor), the breakfast was yummy ( a combo of Nepali and Continental) and they were full of great tips about excursions around Pokhara and good treks and rafting ( we went with PaddleNepal.com down the Lower Seti river thanks to Hotel Karuna links with them and it was the best activity trip I have ever done with my family). They don't do food during the day ( only breakfast) but they kindly ordered us delicious sushi and delivered it to our room. And last but not least, the price is super reasonable for the quality and the location. Highly recommended!!

We spent two nights at Hotel Karuna before our trekking and decided to book a few nights extra after our trekking. We really loved the hospitality of this hotel and the kind staff. They gave us advice about the trekking and recommendations for the after-trekking massage, but also informed us about the small lockdown because of the elections.

A big pro is the sustainable character of the hotel: free drinking water, room cleaning when necessary, local coffee and home made soap.

We really recommend this accommodation :)

If you’re travelling in Pokhara as a getaway or a gateway to the mountains, then you should without a doubt stop at Karuna.

I absolutely adore Hotel Karuna for several reasons!

First of all, the hotel is accessible and a few minutes away from the centre of lakeside.

Second, Karuna is a TRUE eco friendly hotel, which is often rare to find nowadays with so many entrepreneurs falling victim to greenwashing in Nepal. (I’m not going to give away too much there, you’ll have to Stay there to find out)

Third, Kelly di and the Karuna staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and are on standby to help you. They have always helped me arrange buses and additional extras. Plus they provide a tasty breakfast and are so welcoming.

If you’re a family, a couple or simply travelling solo, you should definitely check out Karuna when in Pokhara.
