We booked this place for 2nts of our 4nt stay in Pokhara after reading the reviews. Everywhere it was mentioned that this was a beautiful little hotel. But unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. This is my second negative reviews in so many years. Firstly, we were given a room with a double and single bed. When we mentioned that we had categorically asked for a double bed only, we were told flat out NO we didn’t. After I insisted, the receptionist(a rather curt lady), showed me a printout of our booking and kept arguing. At this point we showed her the preference mentioned.. to which she casually says oh but we didn’t see that. Too bad. Absolutely no apologies. Then my husband asked if they could move the bed out, as the room had very little space left, the gentleman at the travel desk asked her to do it. In the meantime, while we waited, she bitched about us to another lady at the reception. (Not sure if that’s the owner or guest).... but VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Mistakes can happen, but one needs to accept it and simply apologise.... instead of being stuck up and so off handed. The hotel has no electricity backup for fans or ACs or even plug points. We understand the ACs, but fans are basic requirements atleast in the heat. The property suffers from electricity outage atleast 2-3 times a day. The staff hardly interacts or greets. They seem very uninterested in the guests. The airport transfer is exhorbitant. We realised this once we got to Pokhara. Most hotels give complimentary transfers, but even if the hotel wants to charge u it should atleast be a reasonable amount for a 10minute journey. We were charged $10 (converted to NPR at a higher then market conversion rate). The breakfast was very OK. After cleanup, enough towels weren’t kept. By this point we just exhausted with this hotel. I completely understand that it is a budget hotel, but then there are so many in Pokhara..... I would def NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to anyone. We have now moved to another hotel and feel so welcome and are finally experiencing the lovely Nepali hospitality again.

A friend and I spent 3 nights in Hotel Karuna before and after our Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek. We were initially only meant to spend 1 night here, but loved it so much that we changed our bookings to come back after our trek. The rooms are basic but spacious and very clean, with a balcony and lovely view out the window. Free WiFi and filtered drinking water was great, as was the scrumptious breakfast every morning. They also have excellent coffee, always a plus. I loved the entry area that had cheerful, colourful cushions on sofas where you could lounge with a book and a hot cup of masala chai, or have a hand at the puzzle that is always on display. Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Pokhara.

We enjoyed the most staying in this hotel, superb breakfast with good local coffee enough for you to have a good start of the day. Comfy bed ensure we have good rest during the vacation (especially after trekking). Their staffs are very friendly and helpful. There are many little activities for time filling, such as coloring book, jenga, puzzle, reading books, etc. I love the corner that support local efforts and eco friendly products, such as coffee beans, bamboo straws, etc. I will definitely come back here next time!
