A basic hotel right in the heart of Thamel. Stayed here almost a week. It’s not the newest but coming down from our trek up in the mountains, the hotel provided luxury - hot shower, airconditioning, wifi, cheap water. The staff were very attentive and great service too. Thank you for making our few days in Kathmandu homey.

A very welcoming atmosphere. The rooms were very comfortable and clean with nice furniture and very good bathrooms. We stayed for almost 5 days and and the Staff & Hotel Manager Mr. Keshab Kanal went above and beyond to make us feel at home and meet our every need. The Continental Breakfast everyday was almost with variety and were glad to see the Hotel Director Mr. Puroshattam Dhakal greeting each and very guest. We recommend to all with to call Keshab and book the rooms for a pleasant stay.

Really enjoyed my 01 night stay with my family in this property. Rooms were spotlessly clean and food was awesome. View from the roof top is praiseworthy. Being in the heart of city, reaching there was a bit of an issue as the roads are very congested and lots of 01 way even to confuse Google Maps. Staff are really courteous and the owner himself served us breakfast. Manager, Mr. Khanal is a nice and gentle bloke who guided us for sight seeing. Really a nice place to stay...

Samsara became my base between my treks in Nepal. The staff were wonderful - so helpful and friendly, and they quickly got to know me! As soon a I got back they'd do their best to get me into the same room, sort out my laundry, book me massages, etc., so it really felt like home away from home - which was comforting in the bustle of Thamel. It's not modern, but it's cosy and extremely central to everything with a lovely breakfast. Make sure you have a room higher up facing the garden. It's a bit quieter. (Thamel is generally noisy and busy during the trekking season.) Thanks to Renu for all her help during my stay - the Assistant Manager I believe. She and her staff made Thamel that much more special :)

This was a lovely hotel to stay in during our time in Kathmandu. The staff was very friendly, the lobby area was comfortable and upscale, and the rooms were large and perfect for our stay. The price was very reasonable, and it is in a great location in the heart of Thamel, but down a quiet side road which made for some peace and tranquility out of the hustle and bustle. We stayed here multiple times and were able to safely leave our luggage during our trek. Highly recommended!

I have stayed for two night in Samsara Boutique Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed and will stay in future in Kathmandu. The service is excellent, the staff is very friendly and will go extra mile to make your stay comfortable. The room is very clean and well appointed with good bed and pillows. The bathroom is decent size. The location is very good and the view from the room is the best of the best.

The Samsara is a brand new 5 storey hotel set in a peaceful garden behind the Vaishali Hotel off Thamel Marg in the popular tourist area of Kathmandu. Rooms are quiet, spacious, with very comfortable beds, plenty of pillows, reverse cycle a/c and spotless well appointed bathrooms with ample hot water. They have cable tv, fridges and broadband internet. There are great views of the mountains from the upper floors and roof terrace, and a sunny terrace for breakfast. The lobby has a small bar and restaurant with starched tablecloths and very helpful staff.

A key attraction of this hotel aside from its convenient but quiet location is the incredibly helpful, friendly but not intrusive manager who is always on hand to assist with any arrangements and who is obviously keen to make this new hotel a success. The contrast between him and indeed the whole hotel with those in Tibet or India couldn't be more stark. After 3 months driving from Australia this hotel is the most comfortable and welcoming we have come across.

The only draw back but which shouldnt daunt too many travellers to Nepal is the lack of a lift, but we are assured that once the political situation stablises one will be installed.

My wife and I stayed in Samsara before and after our Annapurna Base Camp Trek and we were very unsatisfied with the stay. To be clear, we do not have high standards for hotels and we were actually pretty happy with the much cheaper teahouses we stayed in during our trek.

1) Samsara did not have hot shower. We did not have hot shower for 2 days - when we first arrived and when we came back after our trek. Even mountain area tea houses had much better hot shower than Samsara.

2) Samsara had very slow internet connections. The internet speed was even slower than our tea house in Jhinu.

3) Samsara's heater in our room did not work and it was very cold at night. Samsara changed our room to a different room, but the heater there was also broken.

It is difficult to understand this since Samsara is much more expensive than teahouses in the mountain areas. They should at least have hot shower. We aren't asking for a super luxurious experience or something. As I mentioned above, we were both happy with staying in teahouses. Although they were super basic with no heating, at least most of them had hot shower.

The location is good, but everything else was just terrible. I would rather stay at a teahouse in the mountain area for another day.

Me and my friend was in Nepal for trekking last vacation and we stayed at Samsara Resort for two nighths. We found some great value for money. The rooms are very spacious, the bathrooms spotlessly clean and disinfected, the sheets and linen are fresh. All in all, we found it great value for money. If we got chance we surely are coming there again. Loved Samsara, Loved Nepal.
