We stayed at Eco Homestay for 5 nights before and after our trek and we had a very good time. Thakur and his family are incredibly welcoming and made us feel at home right from the first day. The room has a double bed and an en-suite toilet plus a second bathroom with warm water is available on the same floor. The house is conveniently located in a quieter part of the city at 30 minutes walking from Thamel so it is a bit of a stretch if you want to go out in the evening but it is perfect to avoid the chaos and dust of the city centre. Kopila, Thakur's wife, is extremely kind and smiley and she cooks one of the best dhal bhat we have ever had. We would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a quiet yet convenient place and who wants the opportunity to meet a beautiful family.

I stayed with Pandey family for a couple of days and had a terrific time in their beautiful and spacious house. Balaju is a calm area and you're guaranteed a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Great food and conversations with the family members. Loved it. Thank you.

I had the pleasure of staying with Thakur and his family before and after my trek to Langtang Valley. From start to finish the stay exceeded my expectations, I was collected and dropped off to the airport and fed more than I could eat throughout my stay! The food is delicious and mostly homegrown, if not, locally sourced. I highly recommend this eco stay. The double room with ensuite was spacious and has access to the garden as well as a large roof top terrace. The shower is solar powered so can have a delay but that is not a problem. The monkey temple is within easy walking distance and a worthwhile and interesting experience. Location wise, to get to Thamel a taxi is best but is easily organised. This does have the bonus of a quiet and ‘Kathmandu dust’ free location.

Thank you for a truly wonderful stay, I look forward to returning to Nepal!

I stayed with Thakur's very welcoming family (his parents, his wife Kopila and son Niraj) for 3 nights/days after my trek and Pokhara trip and I can say this is one of the best part of my stay in Nepal. Being with the family and see their everyday ordinary life (eating meals with them, visiting relatives, praying in the temple) is a simple but wonderful experience. I felt like I was part of their family.

If you want to relax and be away from the dusty roads of Kathmandu for a while, this is a great home to stay. It's also a just a 30 minute walk to the Monkey Temple.

The room was nice and spacious with its own bathroom amd toilet. There's a rooftop which is a great spot to enjoy the morning sun or relax at night just watching the moon.

The meals cooked by Kopila were always newly cooked and delectable. Some of the veggies even come fresh from their backyard garden. I loved the mildly spicy dal bhat and my favorite hot milk tea!

I also enjoyed having interesting talks with Niraj and learned more about Nepal from him. He has books about Buddhism and fiction books as well which you can borrow.

It's definitely worth coming back!

We had just finished a 21 day trek into the Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit with First Environmental Trekking. Thakur and his entire family were so welcoming to us. We were greeted by Kopila, Thakur's wife, and served an excellent lunch. We enjoyed the view of Kathmandu from the rooftop deck. We rested and enjoyed tea in their lovely garden, and had delicious dal bhat (with fresh organic vegetables from their garden) for dinner. Our room was very comfortable and the location so tranquil! We would definitely recommend Eco Homestay.
