This hotel/guest house was quite up to Western standards for someone that loves hot shower and all the western amenities (trust me, you're thinking about it, but yes they've got toilet paper). I enjoyed my time and it's on par with many of the places that I have stayed in Manhattan and Atlanta. It also has late check-out at 1pm for free. The hotel is joined by a nice cafe that offers really great Western food (yes burgers and fries and good beer, IPA standard). All needs of baggage handling, taxi cab hailing, even umbrella providing were taken care of by Mr.Purushottam of the hotel management. 5/5 stars.

I had the privilege of staying at the Potala Guest House for more than a week with a team of 10 friends including myself and 9 foreigners. Our stay there was pleasant, fulfilling and full great memories of great staff members, their humble service and availability to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Located at the heart of Thamel, yet peaceful and spacious rooms facing gardens makes this property a desirable one. Its Operation Manager, Rinjen Lama, who has the joy of serving and highly professional in his dealing, is always available for the service of the guests. He has well-managed other staff members that they are always there for you to make your stay a lovely one. It has been just 3 days my friends left, but, one of them has contacted me and asked that we should book the hotel very early lest we may not get to stay. Additionally, their restaurant attract you for desirable cuisine with quiet and comfortable place. During our stay, we enjoyed almost every meal there. In regards to the price, you won't get such property and facilities in the price they offer. Your first impression will draw you there time and again. I have brought my whole family to stay there and my family also loved it.

The service at the reception/hotel was very good. The room was nice and warm (ac/heater) with private bathroom/shower (hot water). It's located in a good area in Thamel with a lot of shopping for your trekking/hiking.
