This hotel is built in the old Nepal palace style, looks great. Beautiful garden and terrace. Large rooms, clean and hot water on demand. WiFi available, not as strong as you would like is some parts of the buildings. Close to Monkey Temple, approx. 20-minute walk to Thamel. The food was OK, not very special. Not cheap, but certainly worth...

This hotel has areal feel of being in Nepal though it is relatively modern it has an authentic air about it. There is a good restaurant serving quality dinners and breakfast.. Close proximity to the monkey temple and the shops in Thamel adds to it's appeal.

Stayed here as part of an organised G-adventures tour. Pros:- Big room Hot water on demand Cons:- No Wi-Fi in rooms. 20 mins walk from Thamel. No other eating options near. Chaos on reception. Surely they've been doing this a while so shouldn't be that bad but it was. I can only describe it as confused old men who need...

A wonderful hotel. Staying there was a great experience. First of all the atmosphere catches you from the first moment when you get in. The building is really nice and the garden is amazing. The whole place is designed with small but beautiful details. In the vegetable garden they grow their own organic vegetables which they use in the restaurant....

Hotel Vajra is a really special hotel, in my opinion. The decor is a beautiful fusion of Nepali (Newari) and Tibetan, with gorgeous art hanging everywhere. Room prices vary greatly, but if you are willing to go for a room with sink (without its own bathroom), you can pay as little as 16 dollars a night, at the moment, including...

We stayed at this hotel because the tour organiser suggested it, I probably would never have picked it if I had organised this trip myself and I am so glad that we did stay here. It was clearly once a fantastic hotel Great Gatsby style and a centre of culture and activity. And it is still a great place, and...

I stayed here twice and the first room I had was definitely very musty and a little elderly. The second stay was in a suite and this was very nice. I tried the restaurant and the food was excellent. The staff were all very helpful and attentive. So, if you can look past the negatives, the hotel makes for a...

This hotel was booked by my travel company as part of an organized tour. I'd read the reviews, and looked at the its web site, so was very much looking forward to my stay. On the plus side, the Vajra is situated within a large, tranquil garden; a nice contrast to the busy streets of Kathmandu. I was originally allocated...

Stayed here a couple of years back but try to visit in every trip to Kathmandu. A lovely ambiance, and on most Sunday evenings a performance of vajra dance. This dance is a moving meditation which is unique to the Newari people and culture of Nepal. Restaurant very good but can be a bit prices if on a budget but...

This hotel is elegant with richly carved wood doors, staircases and fixtures. The rooftop garden and patio are also very nice but this hotel is musty and the rooms smell of mildew. The region is hot and humid and I think a fan in the rooms would help tremendously. clothes do not dry overnight and the towels are damp and...
