This hotel is inside the Bodnath plaza, you can see the world's largest stupa right outside the window. It's clean, comfortable, convinient, and safe. The maid cleans the room everyday. There is security guarding the hotel entrance all night. The rate is about $32 a night for a queen size bed, western style breakfast included. Service is excellent, you can tip them 50 cents to help with the luggage.

The Bodnath plaza has tons of shops. You can either walk around the stupa like the pilgrims or shop as much as you want. Many shop owners speak fluent English, you can bargain for a better price. There is a restaurant within the hotel that serves lunch and dinner. Money exchange service is on the 1st floor, but you can probably get better rates at other places. I recommend Cosmos cyber cafe next door if you need internet access, it's about $1 an hour.

My only complaint is the moldy shower curtain. The air was also stale and smelt like cigarrette when I first walked in. Rooms 104, 204, and 304 are at the end of the hallway, they are bigger and quieter.

Boudha(-nath) is in our opinion definitely the best place to stay in Kathmandu. Relaxed, friendly and quiet compared with the city itself.
The Padma is the best quality hotel we had in Boudha. Maybe a little overpriced and touristy/impersonal to our taste.
Nice rooftop restaurant, directly opposite the stupa.
Nice clean room, very nice bathroom with sufficient hot water, daily room cleaning and change of towels. Hard beds.

Hotel Padma is fine -- clean enough, nice staff, and located in front of the stupa. You walk out and there it is. The hotel not at all fancy -- it's sufficiently clean, it's plain, it's inexpensive and if you just want a reasonable place to stay by the stupa, this is it.

We went to the roof terrace for lunch while visiting the Stupa. Beautiful food, lovley terrace, stunning view. The staff were also excellent.
It was recommended by our guide and we couldn't have been happier with his choice.
Highly recommend a visit here.

This is a hotel one doesn't forget easily. It is located right in front of Kathmandu's most amzing place, Bodnath, where pilgrims go from early morning to late in the evening. The hotel is modern, clean, and reasonably well equipped, and is run by friendly Nepalis of Tibetan descent. The city centre is some 10 minutes by taxi - expect to pay 1 to 2 dollars. They also have a special car to take you to and from the airport - although this service is a bit expensive.
Altogether, I would go back to Kathmandu just to stay at this hotel and appreciate the amazing Bodnath!

right in front of the stupa, this hotel was much more quiet, convenient, and clean than Happy Valley Guesthouse. real hot water at anytime of the day, a television in some rooms, and restaurant on the roof terrace. the food was excellent, although a little more expensive and less varied than other surrounding restaurants, but well worth the price considering the flavours involved. the staff was really helpful and smiley at all times of the day. i definitively recommend it for mid-range accommodation.

Staff was friendly and helpful. There's a great view of the Stupa from the terrace restaurant. There was a view of neighbors' laundry from our room. It was fun to stay in the Stupa area at night and see it without all the tourists. The room didn't seem particularly clean, not uncommon in Nepal, and we had a cockroach visitor.

Amazing place, the best rooms are those with the view on the big stupa. The restaurant on the roof terrace is cozy and welcoming and it also offers a nice view of the square. Great variety of delicious food from breakfast to dinner.
The service and the staff are just impeccable.
The ideal place to get away from the chaos of Kathmandu.
Love it!

Popped in as part of a tour for a spot of lunch.

Beautiful location over looking Bauddanath at the time of our visit there were only 3 other customers in the restaurant.

Service was polite and friendly, lots of staff 8+ quite a few of them appeared to be training.

Ordered 3 dishes to share which came out one at a time quite slowly, nicely presented but by local standard a bit bland and gloopy.

With a beer and soda water the bill came to ÂŁ14 which was average for tourist strip.

We stayed at the Padma as part of a larger group for the better part of a week, then again with a couple friends later in the month. Coming back for our second stay was lik coming home! The front reception staff are very pleasant, friendly and accommodating. Bir works so hard in the restaurant and provides exceptional service. We really enjoyed having our breakfasts on the rooftop patio, overlooking Boudha and the stupa.
The room was tidy and well maintained. Unlike some others from our group, we had hot water whenever we wanted it.
The location is great, the staff is great - we would absolutely stay again.
