We were initially confused about where to stay in Kathmandu during our trip to Nepal. The options were Hyatt, Dwarika and Yak&Yeti. The modern city-type rooms of Hyatt with no local decor and no heritage tag did not excite me. Dwarika seemed better, but seemed like a very compact resort. The lush green lawns and the heritage of Yak & Yeti led me to this property finally. And must I say that I've never been happier with my decision, which was spot on !! The property is a fabulous 5 Star Deluxe resort located in the heart of Kathmandu. Very close to the happening area Thamel and located on the high street with plenty of superb clubs and shopping all around, it was a delight being there ! It has the distinction of being Kathmandu's first 5 Star Hotel and retains that heritage even today with its lovely Nepalese Darbar decor. With heritage artefacts and so much of history all around, you are actually staying in a grand palace. I happened to see their convention halls and was simply stunned with the magnificent murals, the paintings, artefacts and the decor ! We chose to book a package called 'Tour de Kathmandu' which also included dinner sightseeing directly from their site. And we really felt it was super value for money. The check-in was smooth and we were escorted to our lovely room overlooking the mesmerizing gardens !! The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean with a large LED TV ! The hotel has 2 wings and both seemed equally great to stay at. There is also a large lawn tennis court and a terrific spa !! The best part of the hotel is its lovely garden. It's like an oasis in the middle of the city. There's a lovely Buddha temple, a pond with fishes and ducks and it's simply unbelievable !! I've never seen a lawn so well landscaped and manicured. It was always a delight to walk there after every meal or in the mornings. The service at both the restaurants (Chimney and Spice Room) was top notch ! I particularly fell in love with the ambience of Chimney Restaurant which was so cosy !! Special thanks to Mr. Rojesh for his warm service and his chefs Mandeep Singh, Jitendra and Prabhat who made some fabulous dishes, especially the deserts (Baked Alaska, Bailey's Rasmalai etc.) !! The Travel Desk also was very efficient and is highly recommended to book through them. I felt they were really very reasonable. Special thanks to Mr Raju 9860971021 who arranged everything so well !! The artefacts shop in the hotel was also quite good and surprisingly affordable (infact cheaper than Thamel) which is often not the case. Finally, hats off to the special lady - the General Manager of the resort Ms. Monica Scheiblauer who truly deserves a standing ovation for managing the resort impeccably. She is truly a very charming lady ! Very warm and hospitable, I always saw her at talking to guests personally ensuring their comfort. Unlike other GMs who are mostly confined to their cabins, she was everywhere taking care of every minute detail !! A special thanks to her assistant Mr Sumit Bhandari also who was very hospitable and courteous. Overall, it was one of our finest stays ever and we left with a heavy heart leaving a piece of ourselves there ! Highly recommended..just close your eyes and book !! Can't wait to be back again !!…
The food was very delicious by chef Mandy and the staff members are very polite especially by Anisha Bohara. We checked in on 16th of June. The view is also very beautiful. We enjoyed a lot here. Very cooperative staff.
The hotel is great. Situated in the center of Kathmandu, with beautiful gardens, nice swimming pool, tennis court and a great staff that will take excellent care of you. We stayed twice: at the beginning of our trek to EBC and after the trek. The first time we had an older room with a worse view but when we came back we had a lovely spacious room with great views of the garden. The staff are all great and we also enjoyed eating at both of their Restaurants. If we come back to Kathmandu we would be definetly stay again at the Yak & Yeti. Thank you.
What an amazing place to stay 😁 Very central to Kathmandu but has a sense of peace and calm and a buffer from the city hustle that was priceless 😊 The hotel was clean and well run - the rooms where spotless and had everything you needed for a stay The Chimney and The Spice room served delicious food night night after night and the room service food is highly recommended The staff were incredibly helpful when our luggage went missing thanks to the airline - they really went above and beyond trying to help us out Would definitely stay there again and would strongly recommend as a place to stay 👍
I don't know how this property is rated as 5star, basic services are not available No house keeping service available after 7pm No amenities refill by HK during daily room cleaning, you will get only when you will order All bath towels and hand towels are very very old and not cleaned properly, never get a clean towel during my 4nights stay even after asking, the reply was this is what we have. If you wish to use Services are very very slow, we order for tea, it came after 1hr and after that also the person was telling us to take 1cup tea and I will take back the tea pot Breakfast is very limited If you are on medication or any special diet, even after making prior request, they don't give anything I have asked for a hot fresh bhatura(puri) and the service staff asked me kindly go to kitchen and get it your self as it's self service No bell boy available during check or check-out Front office staff was useless no assistance provided The worst hotel I have ever stayed across the globe, will never suggest anyone to stay at this property I would like to thanks only 2person 1 Chef Mandy 2 I don't remember the name but he was very helpful and served us tea everyday, he is serving at this property from very long time, I have also mentioned his name to F&B Manager Uttam)…
Kathmandu is a busy, crazy place and is sadly quite a dirty and hazardous city to walk around. The Hotel Yak and Yeti is located in the heart of all the craziness, but it occupies a location off the main streets, in a large walled garden away for the traffic and crowds. This is where the rich natives come to conduct their weddings and other celebrations, and is viewed locally as the poshest hotel in the city, largely due to the large, ornamental garden, ideal for such events. My friend and I were there for 3 days only, to take a helicopter flight to Mt. Everest Basecamp and we chose the hotel because of its links to many Mt. Everest expeditions, as well as the unique name and decent reviews. We heard that many of the guests there are either on their way to Everest or on their way back, so we expected there would be some good conversations to be had in the bar. Plus, the hotel is close to the Thamel area, which is where the main market is located where you can find most things you might need for a mountain trip. I have given this hotel 5/5, due to the fact that it is an oasis of calm and cleanliness, compared to what you’ll find outside of the gates. To give further context, it would probably be classed as a 3 or 4 star hotel in other, more developed countries. If I returned to Kathmandu I would consider this hotel again but would also consider the Marriott Hotel and the Aloft Hotel too, as both are new and well situated.…
rooms were clean. enough toiletries, very good food and breakfast, nice ambience. Very good surrounding and is centrally located. easy access to city. nice lounge and good shops at moderate rates. overall good
We had gone from India hearing lot of food things about hotel. We had booking for 4 days. When we checked in the rooms look so ugly, not up to mark. The washrooms are even worst . The staff was non cooperative and breakfast buffet was disappointing. We checked after one day and shifted to Hyatt place
Wonderful hotel and perfect location, hotel rooms seems very old and cleanliness is an average level, food quality is the best and must be highlighted Chef Singh is the best, Chef interacts with people and ensure served in better manner.
