This is not a hotel for tourists, in the very polluted and crowded center of Kathmandu, but it is located in the quiet area of the various ministries. I chose Basera Boutique Hotel in Kathmandu, before and after my trip to Bhutan, taking into account the great reviews. My expectations were exceeded from all points of view: value for money, cleanliness, kindness of the staff, services, room, bathroom, location, breakfast, dinners at the two restaurants, free transfer from/to the airport, quick replies to my emails and messages... Before arriving, I exchanged emails and WhatsApp messages regarding transfers to/from the airport and various full and half day tours. The hotel responded immediately, sending prices and information. The first time I slept 2 nights and did a full day tour to Bhaktapur, Changu Narayan and Soaltee Resort Nagarkot, where I had lunch. Upon arrival, manager Sanish Singh waited for me in the lobby and with him I established the schedule for my 2 stays. He immediately understood my needs and assigned me a beautiful room, on the top floor, with beautiful views. Then, he chose Gupi, the best hotel driver for my transfers and tours. As Gupi speaks some English, I gave up the guide (the various information on the sites visited can be found on the Internet) and he accompanied me everywhere, communicating very well with him. The price for the tours was great and I paid for them at the hotel, by credit card. Only entrances in various places I paid with local currency (I changed Euros on arrival at the airport in Kathmandu) Smriti Kanauya from the reception was also very kind.
After my trip to Bhutan, I stayed there again.
As the first time, manager Sanish Singh waited for me in the lobby and with him I set the schedule for the second stay.
I was assigned the same room as the first time, which I liked so much.
The surprise that the manager made me for this stay was the fact that he changed the working tour of Gupi, their good driver.
During my first stay at Basera Boutique Hotel, I had asked Gupi for his working hours during my second stay, but unfortunately, it did not correspond with my arrival, departure and second tour.
You can imagine the great surprise and joy when he saw Gupi waiting for me at the airport, landing from Paros (Bhutan).
With him I took the second tour and the other transfer, on departure, from Basera Boutique hotel to the airport, for the return home.
Thanks again to the very good hotel manager!

I visited Nepal with the sole purpose of trekking the Annapurna Circuit Trail, and while at Kathmandu, I looked for the highest rated hotel available as I needed to stay for several days prepping & buying gear for the trek. I chose Basera Boutique Hotel.

Unsurprisingly, Basera Hotel resembles the genuine hospitality of Nepali people, I will list few things they had helped me with:
1. Booking taxies, as well as guiding me into apps for booking taxies.
2. Guiding me into hiking stores, cheapest exchange rates stores, Garmin agency store, as well as suggesting good barbershops before the trek.
3. As I have bought clothing, books and other Nepali material as gifts for the family, I obviously could not take it all with me to the mountains. So, they stored two large bags, they also provided their personal luggage bags to store my stuff (as no stores were available when I was about to travel to the mountains), they additionally bought me luggage bags when I was away, for me to collect when I comeback.
4. Washing my clothes -third party store- (noting the quality of cleanliness is amazing).

Additionally, allow me to list some perks of booking at Basera hotel:
1. It is a genuine & luxurious Nepali experience.
2. The food at the ground floor restaurant is delicious, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner.
3. Cleanliness at its best, you actually may request additional hygienic processes (such as cleaning the carpet, washing the floor, sanitizing the bathroom...etc.).
4. Rooms are spacious, with a smart TV installed on every room. A/C is controllable and it is quite handy, especially in summer months.

I could, of course, keep going in the praise of the hotel, because my experience was terrific as I have booked literally through a Whatsapp message the second time I stayed there (after the trek).

Needless to mention, but important for the context, Uddav, the hotel manager, is a superb manager, personalizing the experience & making it as humane as possible, he will become a great friend of yours despite the fact he's always busy. So, shoutout to Uddav (or Oday in Arabic), as well to all of the hotel staff.

You rock! Keep at it!

I had the pleasure of staying here at Basera Boutique for over 5 weeks. It felt like a home away from home with the kindest, most caring hotel staff I've ever met.

Their communication was exceptional from the start. They made sure we were picked up from the airport with our names on a plaque and the driver was amazing at navigating the chaotic roads of Kathmandu in a safe, comfortable manner. The staff at reception were always keen to make sure we had everything we needed with our stay, and as we were long-stay guests they offered to get us whatever we wanted for breakfast, although it was barely required as the breakfast was superb every morning. We were even able to have a breakfast to go one day when we went for an early morning hike. We always knew we could trust the safety of the hotel food which was a necessity especially when we took unwell due to eating outside food. When this occured the staff were so caring and helpful, ensuring we had extra provisions such as oral rehydration solutions and as much water as we needed. It meant a lot to me when Rebecca came to help me when I was quite sick and gave me a hug and ensured I had everything I needed, she even remembered me when I came to the Base Camp Café a few days later and asked how I was doing.

Sushant has been an incredible overseer of our whole experience at the hotel. He has been so accommodating to our needs and there seemed to be nothing he couldn't help us with!

We were greeted with a smile by every single member of staff. Doors were opened for us, staff made an effort to ask about how our experiences were going in Nepal and got to know our usual breakfast orders.

The hotel itself is designed very luxuriously. Before you even enter the building you have a lovely security guard to open your door and take your bags if you have any. The lobby is both grande and cozy. I felt like a queen with my huge room (Heritage Suite) and jacuzzi bathtub! The A/C worked really well, and even when it wasn't working so well on 1 occasion (likely due to a power cut in the city) the team were very quick to sort it. The tea and coffee station was always well stocked, plus 2 bottles of water a day and toiletries for the bathroom.

The rooftop swimming pool was lovely and cold after a hot day in Kathmandu. There was a nice little area to sunbathe and relax by the pool. They have a fantastic view of the city. The gym is well equipped with cardio machines, pin weight machines, bar bells and dumbbells.

We tried food and drinks at both The Mantra Restaurant and Base Camp Café. Staff were always attentive and food was consistently good quality.

Overall I would recommend this hotel to everyone. The staff will go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay during your time in Kathmandu.

When it comes to Khatmandu travelers have plentiful hotel options to chose from. Boutique/Heritage hotels in Khatmandu are quite common but Basera Boutique Hotel is a great blend of both luxury and Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. Basera Boutique Hotel is located at a great location, all major tourist attractions of Kathmandu are within 10-25 minutes from the hotel. Highly recommended for travelers who are looking to experience Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, you will instantly recognize this the moment you step in this hotel.

Hotel Staff is extremely attentive to the guest needs, during my stay we enjoyed all of our little/big interactions with the hotel staff. Special thanks to Sudip Tiwari, and Kushal (night duty manager) for taking exceptional care of all of our needs, these individuals deserve to be promoted!

I also found the quality of food served at the hotel to be of excellent quality, food is always prepared with fresh ingredients while maintaining high hygiene standards. Food ordered via room service always arrived promptly and as per the direction provided to the kitchen.

High-quality 5* hotel. From the moment you arrive at the hotel entrance to the moment you are taken to the airport, you are provided with professional and friendly care by the entire hotel staff. Everyone is well trained in how to behave towards the customer so that they feel comfortable. Everyone speaks English very well. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bathrooms too. Cleaned very carefully every day. It is quiet at night. The area is very safe because it is a government district. Air conditioning and wifi work very well. Breakfasts served in the lower restaurant are varied and plentiful. In the form of a buffet. Additionally, you can order served dishes. Good quality. The staff from the entrance to the restaurant immediately takes care of guests in a very professional manner, typical of the best premium hotels in the world. It is similar during dinner. You can see that the entire hotel staff has been well trained and the managers are constantly in contact with hotel guests and constantly supervise their departments so that everything is perfect. This behavior is typical of the best hotels in the world. And I have been traveling a lot for many years on all continents and I have a good comparison. On the top floor there is a second restaurant where we had dinner with local dishes and during it a folklore band performed with a very interesting artistic program. The waiter with excellent English told us the history of all the dishes served, which were very tasty, plentiful and of high quality. On the roof of the hotel there is also a clean swimming pool and a view of the Kathmandu panorama. The hotel offers free transport to and from the airport in a new, large, comfortable car. The driver was professional and took care of us until the very end. He took care of our luggage to make the last minutes of our stay more pleasant. I am a demanding guest who has lived in many hotels around the world for the last decades and I count this hotel among the top 5* hotels at the world level. In addition, you have a sense of privacy and peace in it.

Service service service - what an amazing find. From the moment you arrive, the gentleman whom opens your car door with a salute and a smile and bringing your luggage in to the warm reception from the desk staff immediately making you feel welcome and what a sense of relief as you know your reservation was the right move. Each time I left my room
And encountered any staff it was with a smile. Staff was over the top helpful with everyone making sure that whomever was asking a question of where to go or how to get there. Harendra on our first morning even drove us personally to the Garden of Dreams (I believe that’s what it was called) and showed us here to go shopping- sightseeing for the day. Upon our return to the hotel we were agin greeted with genuine enthusiasm and all asked how our day was. There was some people whom booked a flight to Everest and the company whom they booked with had cancelled on them. Harendra was immediately involved and on the phone trying to find another touring company for the upset couple. In fact they always were quick to jump on their phones to arrange anything you wanted from taxis to money exchange to genuine concern for how your holiday was going. The rooms
Were nice and clean and comfortable again when you book something from 11,000 km away you just don’t know what your in for but I assure you that you will be in good hands. We went to Langtang trek for 9 days and came back to this hotel again, we arrived late in the evening and wanted a massage and they made it happen even though the spa was closing in 5 minutes. I know I am missing many more points in this but what I do know is- I will be back here one day. I promise you that this wonderful staff made my trip to Nepal so much better. I have much love for them and their kindness.

Friendly staff, charming architecture, central location and great breakfast (incl. Japanese and Arabic offers). There was no reason for us to complain. The small roof-top pool is not heated, but should be sufficiently warm by mid-October. I would like to highlight the bartender who makes a wonderful Dry Martini at a reasonable price. We have rarely felt so comfortable in a city hotel. If you want to have dinner, Chez Caroline is just around the corner. The hotel's restaurant also offers an extensive menu of international classics in good quality.

We had a truly delightful stay at this exceptional hotel. Its location, perfectly nestled between popular tourist attractions and the airport, was incredibly convenient. The hotel's immaculate cleanliness and beautifully authentic Nepalese architecture and interior design created a wonderfully serene atmosphere. The staff were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. A special thank you to Reeta, whose kindness and helpfulness were particularly appreciated. The restaurant was also a highlight, offering exquisite Nepalese cuisine. In every aspect, this hotel deserves a resounding five stars.

A little delayed in this review… But had a great stay at Basera Boutique Hotel. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly greeted with friendly smiles, and complimentary welcome drinks. They were delicious!

The Hotel staff repeatedly went out of their way on our behalf when it came to Taxis or any other tourist related activities…Often times even negotiating a better rate for us before we took a taxi. The restaurant on site has excellent food and evening entertainment.

But the star of the hotel is the front desk staff. They were always welcoming and always accommodating.

They also have a free shuttle service to and from the airport and a full spa. This was the first time I got eyebrow threading. Much more painful than I thought 😂
My wife thought it was no big deal.

We loved the decor of the room and the hotel. Beds were comfortable and showers were hot with high pressure. Also, free bottled water daily in the rooms.

If we ever return to Nepal, there will be no question where we will stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful hospitality shown to us by the staff at Basera Boutique.
