Shangri-La Boutique Hotel is a unique fusion of classical paintings amidst an urban atmosphere that perfectly captures the essence of Kathmandu, hosting guests from all around the world to share a space and indulge in conversations about their homelands as well as of their travels around Nepal. Located very centrally in the tourist hub that Thamel is, our hotel is tucked well inside, giving our guests a quiet sanctuary from the buzzing streets, where they can breathe fresh air from the surrounding greenery.

I stayed at Shangri-La for 5 nights and would do it again. The location is great, just around the corner from the center of the center (Thamel). Every day of the week they serve a different type of breakfast, each with fresh fruit and good portions. They also offer free water and free, speedy wifi. I give 4 stars for facility cleanliness and functioning because during my stay the showers were cold and I had to change rooms twice due to ants in the bed but they upgraded me to a family room and have now taken care of all that so no complaint here. It is definitely a good place to stay when you are traveling alone and are looking for locals to help you find your way around. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and I would like to give a special shout out to Bino, the manager. He helped me with all my many questions from simple things like where to go to buy specific things in town to organizing a good trekking guide and everything around that (buying & renting equipment). During my stay the Indra Jatra festival took place and Bino and his friends took a friend of mine and me into town to go see the Kumari. The streets were crazy busy but they took good care of us and made sure we had an awesome, local experience. I came to Nepal for volunteering and during that time every now and then came back to Thamel for some things and I was always welcome to stop by at Shangri-La to say hello or get some more advice. It became a bit like my home base and I am very grateful for everything Bino and his guys have done for me. 5 star rating for service!!!

Shangri-La is the calm oasis of an intense, chaotic Thamel (the central touristy part) of Kathmandu. The rooms are fresh and clean, the breakfasts and other meals are delicious, and most important of all; the owner Keshab is probably the most inspiring man I've had the honour to meet in Nepal. He helped with everything and there wasn't a single thing he couldn't fix. His positive spirit and constant smiles just spreads happiness anywhere he goes. I was here in late 2015 with 3 friends, unfortunately forgot to leave a rating back then. I still dream of this place and the other wonders of Nepal. Really wish to come back and visit again soon! Hope you're doing amazing Keshab! // Hugo

Definitely the place to stay in Kathmando! We stayed multiple nights on 3 stops in Kathmano (pre- and post-Everest trek and post-touring of country sites.) Centrally located with well-appointed rooms and well-maintained facilities. Our package included excellent breakfast each morning and allowed the use of storage locker while we were trekking/touring. Managment (Bino) and staff (too numerous to mention names, but everyone we dealt with) treated us like family. Truely was our "home away from home."

I arrived here at the beginning of my journey, I left my luggage in the spacious lockers for my trekking and I came back again ‘cause was amazing! It’s clean, the food’s great, the floor sfaff is professional and friendly. Very nice rooftop where you can get a drink and relax. Thank you to all the guys for making this holiday great, specially to the manager, the owner and Devendra at the reception! I’ll come back here for sure ❤️
