The place itself is ok, but it should definitely be specified that the hotel is tucked right in between some of the two noisiest dance clubs in the area, which makes it completely impossible to sleep. At some point my windows were shaking. I left around midnight to go to a different hotel and the music was louder than ever....

Dear Mary C, We are extremely sorry for you got a problem due to the noise of the bar and pubs. I had talked with manager about you and you had left the hotel at midnight. It was big bad luck for us we could not treat you well. My manager told me he was requesting you to come in...

Stayed here with a friend in a twin room. Rooms are clean and simple, what you'd expect in that price range. However a nightclub located in the building right next to the rooms makes it impossible to sleep before 2am (midnight if it's your lucky day). We complained and despite the hotel being only half full, the manager refused to...

If listening to reggae, dubstep and 1970's rock music simultaneously whilst you sleep is your thing.. Then stay here! The only wall of my room that wasn't emanating sound and vibrations until 1 sometimes 2am was the wall that lead to the hallway. I have been to Kathmandu multiple times and laid my head down in numerous different guesthouse after...

Friendly and helpful staff, really nice breakfasts, good value for money and brilliant location but it is very noisy at night- can be difficult to sleep, rooms basic but nice- it is worth getting a deluxe room if you can as you get a tv!

Hotel Potala was a great location in Thamal...right in the centre of the action. It was a good price for a large room and ensuite for two of us. The staff were very welcoming and polite and always went out of their way to make us comfortable. Many good restaurants near the hotel. The hotel was also very secure. Thank...

I stayed in a private room with private bathroom for 3 nights recently, The Hotel Potala is located right in the heart of Thamel. There are many dozens of excellent restaurants within a 2 to 5 minute walk. Just about everything else you might need is within very close proximity as well. The staff here were amazing. I must have been lucky with the room I was given, because it was quiet with good wifi and acceptable TV coverage. My bed was large and comfortable. A cage full of canaries guards the sunny roof garden, which could do with a little TLC as, aside from the restaurant, it is the only communal space. I didn't eat at...
