We stayed for 4 nights in the Executive Suite on the top floor. The room was spacious and we had a nice view over the neighborhood. The hotel is ideally located: Not far from Thamel, but in a quiet side road, so noise was not an issue at all. The breakfast was very good, especially the sweet pastries. Everybody was nice and helpful, especially the staff working at the breakfast buffet. What surprised us a little bit was a sign in the room which said that washing your clothes in the room was not allowed. Not sure what they meant with that, I think it should not be a problem if you wash a few pieces when you need to do so. What did not work out very well was the airport pick-up which we booked via the hotel. When we left the airport building, we did not find our driver. We looked around and waited for some time, then finally we bought a taxi voucher to organize our own transport. Then suddenly our driver turned up. We could return the taxi voucher at the counter, but they withhold some dollars.…
This hotel was a little bit of bliss amongst some chaos. We absolutely loved Kathmandu, but we had been travelling around Nepal for two weeks, hiking and exploring the jungle and just needed a bit of relaxation and we found it in this hotel. Highly recommend! It is very clean and the staff are super friendly!
I spent one night here because I had my flight to Bhutan the following day. I didn't found the driver waiting for me as agreed with the hotel and so I sent an e-mail to the hotel and then wait some time before reaching the hotel. Coming back to the airport everything was ok. The hotel is in the centre of Kathmandu, but I didn't had time to have a look in the city (anyway I think of visiting Nepal one of my next trips). I had dinner at the hotel before going to sleep.
Booked 2x nights before flying to Bhutan...where I didnt go in the end as Bhutan closed their borders one day before my flight. So, stayed total of 4x nights in Kumari (room 404). Due to Corona outbreak in other parts of the world, it felt very calm en quiet in Kathmandu and Thamel area. Very difficult times for the nepali people. Stayed in Nepal a few times already and last time stayed outside the city area because normally its just too crowded for my taste. Kumari is in a small backstreet off a busy Thamel shoppingstreet. (Almost opposite Mulberry hotel ... easy for taxi driver to use as a reference point). Just 5min walk to get there. Hotel is small with an excellent staff. Friendly, polite and interested. Eager to help you to get the most out of your stay. My room was perfect. Wooden floor, good working power shower. Working toilet and clean towels were provided. Many of you will think ‘oh, thats nothing special’, but I tell you it is in Nepal! Its a rather small building with nice sitting area outside. They have an elevator. On the 5th floor is a tiny covered rooftop terrace with room for 4x people to sit. Compliments for housekeeping. They did a good job keeping the room clean and fresh. Also a very nice gesture to provide a few big bottles of water for making tea, coffee or brushing teeth. Met a couple from the UK (Cardiff?) while sitting in the sun and had some nice talks. Their room was almost next to the roofterrace and they loved it so much they were there sitting all evenings with a beer and a book. Great place when the sun is out. Owner of the hotel was around most days and always in for a chat. Again, difficult times as guests were already starting to cancel their bookings. Breakfast fine for me. Strong fresh coffee. Yogurt, fruit and some muesli. Hot dishes and eggs freshly cooked. What more do you need? Went out for lunch and dinner or just some takeaway from restaurants in the area. Eating my takeout at the rooftop terrace was great and the hotel privided me with plates and cutlery. I can recommend the Kantipur Tandoori house almost next door. Vegetable curry was fantastic. Anyway, loved my stay although deeply disappointed that Bhutan was a no go. I already decided to go back to Kathmandu and Kumari hotel next year... on my way to Bhutan. No doubts where to stay. See you again in 2021 and stay healthy. And thanks to all staff for your kindness. …
We stayed here for 5 nights and really enjoyed the location and wonderful hospitality provided by the staff. They always were very friendly and went out of their way to help us make our visit perfect. We were here during the Coronavirus and we had to stay longer than planned and they offered a discount knowing it wasn't our plans to stay as long. The rooms were a nice size and everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. I highly recommend!
