The room was so dirty. Sheets were torn on the bed and the curtains didn't close properly. The "hot water" didn't get hot and the bathroom had not been cleaned and smelled like sewer. All night we heard the neighbor hacking up a lung and spitting. If it rains you will have to wade through sewer water. Disgusting. There are so many better places to stay in Thamel

I realise it’s budget accommodation but we mostly stay budget and never had issues like this ... firstly I had to get the mop to clean the thick dust off the floor. Secondly my husband returned to the hotel when a heavy rainstorm came to close the windows we had left open. Turns out one of the windows actually had no glass in it! But worst was the sewer had flooded and he had to wade through it to actually get into the hotel. When he told the guy we weren’t actually going to stay there but he would pay for the one night ( all we had used was the bathroom) and went to collect our baggage, when he came down the guy had called friends who tried to take out baggage and stop my husband leaving. Not a pleasant start to our first night in Kathmandu.
