Except some point appreciate their services .......
We were in Kathmandu during the the Shiva ratrie festival in Nepal. I found there are very least hotels and resturant are operating and must of the them renovating during the corona pandemic.
After the corona pandemic compel us to limit our budget and choosen to stay in simple but comfortable hotel then choose holyland guest for kathmandu stay.
As we were in Shivaratri festival, there is lots of corwed , wood fire in every corner to celebrate the shivaratie festival.
For the very first day was good, but on shivaratri festival`s day there is music, crowed in every corner but enjoyed , and breathtaking experience for my life time , got the opportunity to celebrate from the close range ever in my life.
We have found the hotel is being renovated to maintain their standard being unused for long time they said gradually operating the hotel after the corona pandemic. Even though some minor points to be considered , we are very happy with the services they have provided us on our budget.
The staff was kind and badri is very informative and help us to test COVID -19 to back to home. He called the medical team at the hotel and collect the report to the hotel for our comfortableness i really pleased with him.
We had a cup of tea together as i wanted to know the situation after the corona pandemic. How they are trying to operate the hotel and maintaining the hotel even though there is no visitors in hotel really appreciating. Surely, i use them for my next visit in Nepal.
Cheers !

Got a chance to travel Kathmandu post COVID. It was a pleasant stay at Holy Land Guest House, the staff in the reception is very helpful and charming. He is always there to solve the problem.
Room wise the hotel has decent room on that budget. Attached bathroom and quick internet. The rooftop garden and food is the plus point of the trip.
Likewise, the location is prime as the heritage places are nearby. Overall, it was a best stay in this hotel. High recommendation.

We stayed here before and after trekking. We only came back the second time because we had stored our things with the guesthouse. The staff are ok. Nothing special about the service good or bad. The room was fairly average and there was hair in the bed so I'm not sure whether they had changed the sheets. But hey, after travelling for so long through Asia we had lost all worry about new sheets. The bathroom door did close so when we had shower the carpet got wet which was gross. When we did return from trekking we were told that there would be hot water then there wasn't so I asked and was informed that they were still pumping water and when the pump was finished it would take 2 hours to heat (10pm). We were a little annoyed about this as we had spent the day travelling and hadn't showered in about 10 days. But what can you do, its Nepal! Anyway, 10pm came and no hot water so then we were told that there would be no hot water until the next morning. In the end we just had to suck it up and shower in the morning. It was less the service and more they didn't really care. Maybe they are use to dirty grumpy customers. Over all the guesthouse isn't that great. Its dark and kind of dirty. There are better places to go with a nicer feel to them.

Do not stay here, you won't sleep. It's right in front of a dance bar playing extremely loud music till 4am. I complained to reception and got a standard dumb Nepali half grin. Find somewhere else if you want some peace and quiet. It's a sister hotel with Kings land hotel right next door so avoid that place as well.

Namaste!! Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at our property due to loud music from other organization. We believe you have stay on a Friday night where it has now become famous bar culture around Thamel. And it everywhere in Thamel. But we disagree with your comment regarding hotel next door which has nothing related with. You have even complained about the people and culture which we believe is not good. We hope you had a peaceful stay upon leaving our property. Best regards, Holy Land Hotel family

I have tried hard to erase the memory of having lived in this so-called hotel/guesthouse. Painful as it may be to re-live the experience, it would be remiss on my part to not document to ensure it is, at the very least, read (even if it is not considered) by those seeking budget accommodations in Thamel. The reception staff is generally friendly but, as mentioned by other reviewers, the level of enthusiasm in greeting varies from nationality to nationality. The pricing too is highly fluid depending on how well you can negotiate. Most rooms are ill-maintained by terribly uncouth cleaning staff who, might I add, view each guest as a potential thief waiting to break into another room. I had to change three rooms before settling down in one that stank till kingdom come of weed and cigarette smoke, mixed with dampness, and all sorts of puke-inducing concoctions. No amount of airing through open windows could clear it out. The linen cannot be called linen and I am pretty sure they are not washed after each use. Towels are essentially dirty rags. The bathrooms are in various states of disrepair, not to mention dank, leaking, reeking, stinking, and mostly unventilated. The buckets and mugs foster slimy ecosystems of microorganisms. Hot water is available only during certain short periods. And I hope you never get to see the kitchen because the conditions in which the food is prepared is absolutely appalling. Even if you have to pay a bit more, ‘anywhere else but here’ is the mantra.…

Namaste, Thank you for your feedback with nice suggestions, which will help us to improve. We do agree on certain things which you have mentioned and had worked already and fixed them. But at the same time, we do not agree with you on the following things; Budget and comfort: We are amazed to know that you were willing to get a five stars standard with an amount paid. We are extremely sorry we did not meet up expectations. Staffs looking at guest as a thief: This is even unthinkable you have thought this way and explained is totally clueless. Apologies, but we have trained our staff to welcome guests as gods and treat them that way too. Laundry of Linen and Towel: We always use cleaned stuff on every new arrival. Also, thank you for providing feedback on almost everything. Thank you. Holy Land Guest House

Friendly staff who were extremely helpful. Great location central to everything. Rooms OK but great for the money though a little run down. If you want five star pay five star money but for the price it was fantastic and staff were great.

Friendly staff. Clean room, quiet street and very well located in the heart of Thamel. Superb roof top where it's nice to have a breakfast 😊. The doors close in the evening but don't worry, someone from the reception is always present.

To arrive in Thamel at 5am is a no-problem. Except if you do not have a hotel booking. Which was in our case. Last minute you may call. While I was cramming on my phone, the manager Mr. Adhikari luckily met us on the street and has gladly took us in. So my first comment goes to the friendly and very helpful staff of this place. Affordable, very. Do not expect a bunch of this and that but I could say with the price they're offering, their rooms are decent and clean. Their rooftop is a charming place to unwind and chill. If I will come back to Kathmandu, I will definitely stay here again. This place is a gem.

I had been staying in Thamel with my adult son in accommodation just around the corner from Holyland guest house - and paying twice as much for less facilities. We decided to go to Holyland for our last two nights and I was very grateful that they could accommodate us at late notice. We booked a twin room with private bathroom and found the facilities great. Hot water was only available at certain times in the morning and evening, but that was ok - when travelling you need to go with the flow! The owner was very generous with his time and all the staff were very friendly. I loved the location for the time we were there; it was a perfect base for last minute souvenir shopping. Also, Momo Star is just opposite and they made my favourite momo jhol.

I slept there for a few days and I wasn’t too satisfied. The receptionists were very nice and helped whenever they could. The room was quite big (on Nepali level) and the bed was comfortable though not very clean. We had a lot of trouble with hot water and didn’t get to take a shower properly for all of our stay. We shared our bathroom ceiling with the guesthouse staff and we woke every morning earlier than we expected due to a lot of noise. However, this is Nepal, and we paid only a 1000 rupee for the room, so I didn’t have high expectations. To sum it all, an average Nepali guesthouse in a average price.
