Like most travelers to Bhutan, I decided that $250/day (the minimum that the government will allow you to spend) was enough to spend on my visit - the idea of spending more on a "luxury" hotel, to me, seems to be contrary to the idea of making a trip to Bhutan. After all, you're travelling in order to immerse yourself... More

Stayed for one night only, loved the room, warm and cozy, very comfortable beds with spotlessly white sheets. Good food, lovely staff, great location overlooking the city of Thimpu.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Motithang hotel. Perched on the top of a mountain overlooking Thimpu, this is a great place. One of the oldest hotels in Thimpu it is grand, wood paneling all over doesnt make it look cheesy but classy. Our room was huge, and very well furnished. The room heater was a little inadequate but... More

We arrived at Hotel Motithang after dark. Check-in to the hotel was quick and our rooms were ready with the heater and geyser on. The rooms were large, clean and very comfortably furnished. The washroom was also very clean and tidy. The heater was insufficient for the size of the room, and it got pretty cold in there. However they... More

The Motithang had adequate rooms and adequate food. But we had no one to come in to clean our room or give us new towels. I had to ask especially for a t.v., which others had gotten. The space heater worked okay, the dogs howled but not as badly as in Paro. It was mediocre. Dark living room in the... More

A new management and new staff have taken over the Hotel Motithang since the review was written and we assure guests that such incidences will NEVER happen in Motithang! We have renovated the hotel and work continues to make Motithang into a Bhutanese home stay experience. We will also be updating our webpage. More
