It's been 6 months since my stay at Khang Residency. The euphoria of my trip to Bhutan, including my stay at Khang Residency on my first night, still remains. From the hot tea to the lemon grass scent hot towel at the lobby, Khang Residency set the travelling mind at ease and at home immediately. The room was - wow, spacious, well furnished, clean and well maintained. The room and bed were sufficiently warm enough for me to adjust to the first winter night (I live near the equator). Though one might have heard about the barking of dogs in Thimphu in the night, this barking is the sound of benevolence and compassion in Bhutan. And at Khang Residency, I could still hear the barking - faintly. So, if you are a light sleeper, this hotel might be a good choice for you. I can't thank the staff enough for helping me to wear the Kira - from wrapping me sufficiently and securely so that I could hike comfortably without fearing that the 'skirt' would come off (haha), to looking high and low for a safety pin that I requested to hold the 'blouse' together. Throughout the process, we were giggling and laughing away like how sisters would. Thank you, Khang Residency, for your warmth and hospitality. May you come back well and strong when tourism resumes after the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, stay safe.…
Stayed here our first night in Bhutan and enjoyed it very much. Wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised how nice the rooms were. Had dinner and breakfast the next morning before leaving. A little outside main area if Thimphu but did not matter to us at all. Would highly recommend.
The hotel is very clean and spacious; however the hair dryer & the TV were not working in my room during my stay. The location of the hotel is good and worth to stay. Also, there is a very nice restaurant next to the hotel but advance booking is required.
Review by Ngak’chang Rinpoche. The Khang Residency is a delightful hotel well situated for Vajrayana practitioners— Lamas and their sanghas—as well as for general tourists. The hotel has a good atmosphere and the staff are most friendly and helpful. A high standard of food is available offering a wide range of options. The food hygiene is suitable for Western people and the hotel is admirably clean. We host Jomo Sam’phel Déchen Rinpoche in the garden and had several dinners for over thirty people — which were well catered. The wi-fi is fully functional in almost all pert of the hotel and laundry is taken in and expedited rapidly. The room in which Khandro Déchen was spacious and commodious and the Khang Residency Lotus highly and plan to return on 2021 when we next make a pilgrimage to Bhutan.…
I loved my stay at Khang, I went solo for approximately a week. the staff was excellent, the breakfast was delicious as was the dinner, the rooms were great, the location outstanding and quiet. I highly recommend this hotel.
This hotel is luxurious! Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff who can't do enough for you and spacious rooms with a huge bathroom. The beds are comfortable as well. The balcony also had panoramic views of the city. Highly recommend this hotel!
The Khang Residency offers spacious rooms, delicious food and a friendly, efficient service. From the room window or the balcony, one gets a wide glimpse over Thimphu. It is a "don't worry, be happy" place.
Staff were helpful and kind. Meals tasty. Breakfast very generous. It’s not located close to shopping or restaurants, but in house restaurant is fine. As with most hotels, too much light under doors, through curtains and from led displays.
We had a very good stay at Khang Residency but I believed this hotel will become even better with regular checks and maintenance. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom had a bathtub and standing shower. Our room 402 had a poor water pressure. The bathtub shower and standing shower simply didn't have enough water pressure even if you turned the tap to the max. The entrance door at 402 couldn't close properly and there is a gap which allows anyone to see inside the room. The breakfast is very good and service staff are friendly.
The service was great. The bed was comfortable and clean. However, the water pressure of the shower was extremely low and the temperature of water heater varies, which disappoint us quite a bit, especially when the evenings were cold. Not sure if the water pressure issue was just for our room. The food was great, very homecooked. But, the portion for dinner could be a little too much. Overall, recommended stay.
