We stayed here for 6 nights in February 2020. Our room was not luxurious, but was sufficient to our needs, It included a minifridge, which was handy. Two 1/2 liter bottles of water were provided each day. Our room rate included breakfast, which was buffet syle some mornings (perhaps when the hotel has sufficient numbers of guests?), but otherwise was table service, with several options available. We found the staff attentive and helpful. We were given our own Go and Kira ( Bhutanese national dress for men and women, respectively) and staff members assisted us with getting everything adjusted just right.

I quite enjoyed my one evening in this lovely hotel and wish I was able to stay longer. Very kind, helpful reception staff who were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner had limited selections, but were very good. The room was charming and clean. The only negative was the very poor wifi which pretty much did not work in my room the entire time I was there.

A comfortable stay and good service. It's very well located in the middle of town, great wifi and good food. Only big downside was the dogs barking through the night which meant a very poor night's sleep.

The hotel is located in between neighboring buildings under construction or building. Loud noise from heavy machinery goes on till midnight.
We had a front view room, facing construction right in front of us. So, curtains had to be shut at all times.
Hot water was sufficient for one person only. Once we complained, they offered us a larger room facing the back, but also facing a building being built, with terribly loud noise until midnight!!! Street noise was loud, too.
The hotel in general, and the rooms in particular, are run down. In fact, I dare write that the rooms were filthy. Bed linen was dirty and stained.
Breakfast was significantly poor and not satisfying at all.
The second room we received was freezing cold, so we asked for an extra heater. They brought one and plugged it in on an extension cord with another one, without realizing it was overloading the power cord, which heated to a dangerous state, resulting in that we had to disconnect one heater.
I would never go there, even if it was for free!

Our agent has booked us (3 persons above age 60) on 6 and 7 October. The poor service started from the word go. We were given room on third floor with an excuse that a group is staying on other floors.

They had no one other than a receptionist.we have to carry our own 4 luggage to third floor.

Now new problem, the toilet in room had no lock from inside and no water except wash basin.

With lot of argument, they changed our room to other one.we again shifted our luggage.

We had informed them being Indian vegetarian, they should make 4 chapati.the cook informed us wheat flour is not available.with somehow prepared some food.

They offered first floor room next day but we declined. The hotel is under renovation and there is shortage of staff in every section.

Will not recommend this to anyone.please note that we got excellent service at our next stop Punakha showing excellent Bhutanese hospitality.

Till our departure after 48 hours there old room was not repaired.

This is an average hotel located right in the heart of the capital city. It's a bit old, and the floors are rather creaky. The rooms are large and comfortable with portable heaters provided for the chilly nights. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. The guest rooms can get rather noisy, especially if you are in the back. The food in the hotel restaurant is adequate but nothing special. Probably the best thing about this hotel is its location.

I stayed at the Pedling at the end of February.

This is a very good hotel in the city centre

The service is excellent and all the employees are pleasant and friendly, although they lack much knowledge of local attractions. The rooms are clean, heated and the restaurant serves very good food at reasonable rates.

The only drawbacks were the spotty wifi and the sound of barking dogs at night.

We had arranged a trip to Bhutan in Dec 2014 for 7 days. It was beautiful, we were first arranged accommodation in Pedling in Thimphu, Thinphu is the busiest city you will come across in Bhutan. The hotel has pretty good food and esp. the people are really nice Very polite and their behavior and culture melts your heart.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. Good, clean and well maintained rooms without any disturbances. Neither will we come across any difficulty staying here.

I don’t know how this place got a 4 star average. Maybe I just picked an off week to stay. So, let me summarize:

Positives:
#1. Friendly and accommodating staff
#2 Clean rooms

Negatives:
#1 Barking and howling dogs on both sides of the hotel every night. You see them sleeping in the streets during the day. We figured that they were just resting for the night.

#2 Poor lighting in the room. I had to use my clip-on book lights to illuminate this keyboard.

#3 Poor water pressure in the bathroom.

#4 No safe in room or security lock on the door.

#5 Food was OK, but unimaginative.

#6 Tea was from a big carafe—no choices

#7 Toaster was always on and down—you use a wood pick to get your toast out whenever you feel it’s ready.

#8 Did I mention the barking dogs? Our guide handed out earplugs.

If you want to be in the center of town, this is a good location. But there are better choices

It is very difficult to give good rating for most of the hotels throughout Bhutan for a business/official traveler. Hotels are not having any particular policies of operation. They don't want to give a valid traceable bills. Most of the time they charge room rent in a white paper(surprisingly with Service Taxes).

Availability of Indian Veg food in this hotel

Not much of a choice for vegetarian food, but you may be able to request for it. Most hotels prepare very bland food - at least that was our experience in the 4 hotels that we stayed in Bhutan during our 1 week tour.

No wi fi is free. However it's not strong enough to enable connection in the rooms. So u sit in the lobby and use it ! Pretty much the case for all hotels in Bhutan !
