I have now stayed twice at the Norkhil and it was great both time - the place is stunning, very clean, large rooms and beautifully decorated. The food is great and the customer service absolutely excellent - all staff at reception or at the restaurant have been absolutely great and tried to accommodate different requests. It is not in the middle of town, but it is very quiet (apart from the dogs barking from time to time, but that you get everywhere in Thimpu). Overall we felt very much at home during our stay at the Norkhil and would definitely want to stay again.
Just a few blocks away, as they say, standing by itself this beautiful property is a delight to be at with 5 star comforts. The grand lobby that receives you with very courteous staff and the warm spacious rooms just make the stay quite memorable. When in the rooms or from the bar end just after the dining area, one gets a view of the grand Thimpu Valley. My most indulgence with food and quest for authentic bhutanese dishes were full filled by the restaurant Zama. They doled out dishes after dishes to a voracious meat eater like me with a great smile, always wondering which part of the world i landed upon them. I would highly recommend this place both for staying as well as visiting for a meal.
Me and my wife had a great time in Thimphu and our stay at the Norkhil Boutique was amazing! We were here for 2 nights and we truly enjoyed ourselves. The Hotel is located very close to the city centre( just a 10 min walk) and also to most of the sights in Thimphu like The Buddha Point, National Memorial Stupa, SIMPLY BHUTAN museum, Craft Bazaar etc. where one can easily reach in a matter of 10-15 mins by Car. It is a very peaceful location and one can find many good cafeterias and restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel has all the modern facilities like WIFI (very good speed) ,Flatscreen TVs, Electronic Kettle, Air Conditioning, Multi cuisine Restaurants, Gym and Spa and so on, ensuring a very comfortable stay. The food was delicious and the staff was very courteous and polite, which was such a pleasure! I would highly recommend this hotel and would love to come back.…
We were here during Christmas holidays with our kids, beautiful stay and neat and clean hotel, rooms are spaciaous, humbled staff with excellent hospitality, will recommend to stay here if in Thimpu.thank u Norkhil for making our trip memorable.
During our tour in Bhutan we arrived at this hotel in the evening. The lobby has a modern look and reception was smooth. The rooms are very spacious, luxurious and clean. We were here on a “no alcohol day”, so the minibar was empty. Other amenities were complete though with a safe and sockets that can be easily used by different types of plugs (European as well as American types). Wifi works very well. There is a bar, but service is slow when you come with a small group. The buffet dinner was excellent with Bhutanese (spicy) but very tasteful dishes. Overall beautiful hotel but the service department still has to gain some more experience.
Norkhill has large comfortable rooms with big windows. The bed was very comfortable. Internet was ok even in the room. The food was good with lots of choices if you skip the buffet and order off the menu. Breakfast had a good selection of both Indian and western style foods. They will make real coffee if you ask. It is more expensive to stay at Norkhill compared to other hotels.
A newly built hotel, which is very comfortable. Well situated for visiting the city. Staff wonderful. Everything works well. Food excellent; we stuck to the Bhutanese section of the menu, which might be a little spicy for some, but was simply delicious. Our room of the 5th floor had good views over the city, and was well equipped. We were told before coming to Bhutan that WiFi and internet generally were poor, but this was not the case here. So why not 5 stars? Maybe I’m being a bit mean, but although there are little nods to being in Bhutan, it is eventually a little bland, and lacks real character. It also needs double glazing, as there are a lot of dogs outside whose main nocturnal activity seems to be barking, and this was actually a bit of a disturbance. But a great place to stay in Thimpu…
Booked two rooms through MMT. Rooms are excellent, huge ones with all amenities, washroom superb and of course balcony with birds eye view of the city deserves a special mention. Food quality is great although it comes at a hefty price. Staff is very courteous and tries to help. However, at the price which this hotel claims, lots of areas of improvement are present. Some basic issues lies with the kitchen staff. When one asks for an American Breakfast from the menu, one expects that all items displayed as inclusions in the breakfast item under American breakfast shall be served. However, it so happened that items were missed out and had to be requested separately. First day pastries missed out. It was sent after reminding them. Second day fruits were missing, I didn't bother to call up and request again as it was irritating and embarassing. Glass of fresh juice and cup of hot tea served together ! When highlighted, tea was served in a pot the next day. Chicken sausages were not available the second day due to too many guests reportedly the previous night ! Hot water system was down for close to an hour on the first day prime morning hours. MMT booking assured complementary head or foot massage for 2 night booking but hotel was not aware !!! The hotel has the potential to be amongst the best if it pays attention to these minute details because we don't expect such issues from hotel booked at such high rates. …
I loved this hotel the minute I walked into my room. Huge corner room facing opposite the river. Staff very friendly. Could hear dogs barking at times from the houses behind the hotel, but lasted only a couple minutes each time. Had I been asleep, the barking would not have woken me up.
Totally worth a little extra money (compared to standard tourist-grade hotels). Spacious, spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated rooms; great views from the room balcony; convenient location (close enough to walk to main street, but somewhat removed form all the barking dogs at night); excellent water pressure in a shower; attentive and friendly staff. Highly recommend, especially if Thimphu is your first stop in Bhutan, and you need to recover from the looong time it takes to get there. My tour company was able to negotiate a price below all the online booking sites.
